Such a good reading, such a great reminder that even in the midst of my questions when looking around to all that is broken, there is hope for the future restoration!!
I adored this poetry collection! It’s crazy - God knows exactly what I need to read and when. This collection was a blessing to me. I will certainly be revisiting these poems just like I do her poems in Fleeting Things.
Her poems are so beautiful; I don’t know what to say but that. They reflect her heart for God and her questions she has and it is a wonderful thing to see (especially as I have been thinking about some of the same things).
I found the author after seeing her on my instagram discover page and had to read the book— very well written! As an English major, I loved her attention to detail and her writing style. The words felt like thoughts I had but couldn’t put into form. Definitely want to read more by this author!!
Rachel H writes in a way that makes it seem like she may have gone through some similar experiences as my own, and understand some of the same things, that are very particular in their experiences, especially in her first book. I love being able to see things through the lens of her view. I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because I enjoyed Fleeting Things more than this one, and wanted to give note to that. I like that she brings in more of her relationship with the Lord in this one, I like that she is real. There are so few real things left in this world.
I’ve followed Rachel for a few years on instagram and found a lot of her poems through Pinterest. I can’t believe I didn’t pick this up earlier! I loved everything about this collection and really resonated with how she views the world, all of the brokenness but also all of the beauty. Can’t recommend enough!!
📖 Three and a half stars, but difficult to rate. I haven’t read much poetry and when I have, it’s been Shel Silverstein and Ogden Nash because I like rhyming humor. So going somewhat slowly through a book of not funny rhyming poetry was a challenge for me. It was a good exercise though. There were several poems I very much loved and plan to go back and mark with a tab.
When I bought this book, I justified it by telling myself it was ‘for morale’ and oh my goodness, it was 😭 The Father is truly making whole through it 💝
