The book shows the dark or hidden side of Social Media that the masses are not aware of by showcasing how social media has crept deep into our lives and how now we have become a puppet of it.

The book emphasizes how things happen and how are the masses being influenced, trying to make you realize and question what is happening behind the scenes compared to what you are seeing on your mobile screens

This book gives you perspective to think on the below topics

1. Social media's main aim was to first connect people. But are they?

2. Does Whatsapp actually provide end-to-end encryption, if they review some messages as being improper?

3. How social media platforms are so biased, where they promote some sort of posts, how their verification badge (blue tick) system is biased as well towards certain people.

4. Social media's aim was to help support genuine talent. Is it happening? or are we seeing random people singing BS jingles, reciting lyrics and getting viral?

and many more

Although the book is short, I wouldn’t say this is a very easy-to-read book because first it is very much dense in information and second it has truth bombs which might not be easy to digest.

To be very honest, Bhavya has asked difficult questions which I am sure every adult using social media would have a tough time answering.

2 very genuine points I loved were

People start to copycat celebrities but don’t bother to ask what is happening in reality in the lives of those celebrities

The second very thought-provoking thing the author asks is shouldn’t there be a downright thumb sign available on Instagram and Twitter to tell the creators that what they are doing is not appropriate?

Some of the chapters are really hard-hitting and I am damn sure, after reading this book every time you go social, or chat on social media you will have trust issues in the back of your mind.

A complete eye-opening book

Recommended to everyone who is interested in learning what is happening behind the screens you are reading this review on

📱The book highlights the dark sides of social media as this is not only tarnishing our conscious mind but also making us internet troll material. Social media, nowadays, has a great influence in market. It gives a larger platform to reach people to interact with larger set of audiences. The author throws light on how fake news is influencing perceptions and attitude for people by hampering their mindset.

📱There is upsurge of brainwashing strategies to influence people. Social media is manipulating real talent of people. The book is showing the anomalies of social media and how it can be corrected. The chapters are although short but upto the point. It is of concern that to please audience, younger generation spends many hours in clicking pictures to grab attention for themselves and their activities. The social media tools have started working as dopamine to experience pleasure of being alive.

📱They are imitating lifestyles of celebrities only to get likes and love reaction on their posts. According to author, its necessary to even have "Down Right Thumb" sign to people let know that not every content is worth imitating and admirable. The author explains that how WhatsApp has become a tool, where viral content is continuously promoting fake information and rumours that makes people fail to understood truth. Also, there is no privacy on these platforms. It's just becoming a game of more followers, more likes and more shares only without understanding the content on pages.

📱The author tells that behind every hashtag, there are both influencers and manipulators of truth. The author has explained all her concerns of social media by various example that happened recently, revealing the dark side as well as positive side, may be it's just 20%, of social media. The pace is comfortable, writing is easy to read and relatable, as every second person is on social media. The premise of book is interesting as it puts a series of situations that make you feel a variety of conclusions on social media and its effects. A good aspect of book is that the book has a graph that goes up and down keeping the interest in story alive.

An excellent book that describes the nuisances of social media; how social media has invaded our personal space and our personal information is no longer private. It draws readers' attention to how social media platform is fueling the events of hatred and violence. Author explains how social media is the cause of the increasing cases of depression and depleted mental health.
"If something is free, then you are the product."
The author has stated every aspect why these social media platforms are businesses working only to maximize their profits, while the users and their information are the products.
At the end she is not suggesting to stop using social media altogether but to limit our social presence and be cautious about what information we are sharing.
