Describes canals throughout the world, discussing materials and building technologies, functions and locations of important canals, and examples of famous canals in history.
Chris Oxlade is the best-selling author of more than 150 non-fiction books, most of them explaining complex scientific ideas and modern technology to young readers in readable text.
This book is a great source of information if you're interested in canals and the various types and means of construction. It's filled with great photographs and very informative text. I'd have to say it's geared for pre-teen/teenage reading levels.
