The book follows Herbie the Hummingbird and Bree the Princess Bee, two characters from very different backgrounds as they set off on their journey to help save the forest. Along the way, they meet a colorful trove of beautifully illustrated characters, brought to life by Ukrainian artist and refugee Yuliia Lestes, and learn lessons of love and acceptance, and to quote the book “if progress must start somewhere why not with Herbie and Bree."

I love the whole play on the birds and the bees. This story is more about re-pollination than reproduction. The story teaches us about acceptance and teamwork from two characters from different backgrounds. The characters are fun and colorful. My son really liked how Herbie wore a backwards hat. I liked how Queen Bee and Bubbie were seen as the elder ladies who come together to talk about their children to make sure they come together to do the right thing and help preserve the forest. The Bird and The Bee is a wonderful and entertaining story that your kids are sure to love.

BOOK REVIEW: The Bird and The Bee

Recently I got my hands on Jonnie Forster's 'The Bird and the Bee'. I read this story to my nephew and he had a great time listening to it.

Herbie is a hummingbird who has recently turned into a teenager. Bree is a bee who lives in the hive. She has waited for years and today she is excited to go out. Herbie was thirsty and could see only one flower to sip from. He met Bree who was hiding in the red rose.

This story takes readers into the forest with Bree and Herbie. I am delighted to read this book. My nephew enjoyed this story. The illustrations make the story more lively. The cover of the book is well designed. Looking forward to reading more books by Jonnie in the near future.
