This is the same story over and over. Person drinks too much. One day person decides to stop drinking too much. Lots of PR for the gurus of the new sober movement ie Annie Grace, etc. The stories aren't very compelling, detailed, unique or well written (a guy named Sam uses the word "literally" about six times in his short story, mostly incorrectly). I don't think this was edited. Was also very difficult to read as its formatted incorrectly with copyright wording interrupting the copy on every page. Presumably that will be fixed before publish. Also please take a few "literally"s out of Sam's tale.

I just reviewed Rock Bottom and Rising by Simon Chapple. #RockBottomandRising #NetGalley

This book is a great read for anyone considering taking a break from or giving up alcohol and changing their lifestyle for the better. It's a collection of stories from many different people who's lives have been affected by alcohol and the positive outcome once they finally managed to become free from it.

I initially picked up this book as I thought that it would help to give me inspiration during 'Dry January' but after reading all of the different peoples stories it definitely makes you think a lot deeper into the long term effects of alcohol.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A very powerful collection of stories about personal accounts with drinking and alcohol abuse. There are several examples from people and each chapter focuses on one at a time. They discuss how their drinking experiences effect their lives. Ultimately and sometimes after several tries they become sober.

As someone that has quit drinking almost five years ago this was a valuable book. Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy for the purpose of this review. I liked it a lot.

It was really interesting reading about everyone’s relationship with alcohol - how it started, grew and ended.

I honestly didn’t think I had a problem with alcohol, I wanted to read this book out of curiosity and having a friend about to attend rehab. But after reading some of the stories I realised that maybe I do. I don’t think it’s a major problem yet, but it’s on the way. So now I’ve read this book I’m going to think better and stop drinking.
