She’s a tough former soldier trying to resist the charming medic who’s going all in to claim her.
Former Norwegian special forces soldier Siv Pedersen is making a new start in San Francisco. New country, new job at Norcross Security, and her new no men. She’s left her annoying ex behind and her only goal is to prove herself in her new job, especially when she’s assigned to her own investigation.
What she didn’t count on was having to work with one handsome, charming, and far-too-tempting former combat medic. After a career as an Air Force combat medic, Ryder Morgan is happy with his life. He likes working part time as a paramedic and donating the rest of his time at a free clinic in the toughest part of the city. He always thought finding “the one” wasn’t for him…until he sees gorgeous, tough Siv in a killer red dress.
Now he’ll do anything to break through her prickly shell and convince her that he’s the man for her. As homeless people start dying, and Ryder loses a good friend, Siv and Ryder must work together to find a killer. Going undercover as husband and wife, they have to discover who’s preying on the city’s most vulnerable before more people die. As they uncover a vast web of lies, Ryder has his work cut out for him. Not only to find justice, but to prove to Siv that he’ll protect both her body and her heart.
**Each book in this action-packed romance series can be read as a standalone.
I’m a USA Today bestselling romance author who’s passionate about fast-paced, emotion-filled romantic suspense and science-fiction romance. I love writing about people overcoming unbeatable odds and achieving seemingly impossible goals. I like to believe it’s possible for all of us to do the same.
I love hearing from readers and you can find me on Facebook, Instagram and my website: www.annahackett.com
Anna Hackett is one of my go to author. Trust her to always deliver action filled romance with solid plot and amazing characters.
Loved the cocky, charming, pathological flirt and former army medic Ryder. From the first moment he met our gorgeous badass, Norwegian soldier Siv, he was a goner. And when she put her on his ass for flirting with her- it was love at first sight!
The mystery was done well and many of the Norcross men and Womens showed their faces much to my glee. I would say this book was much more emotional than the other books in the series. One of the scene made my heart ache. One more thing I love about this author is, she covers every single angle in the story and the deserving always gets their comeuppance.
You can read it as standalone but I would definitely recommend this badass series.
The Medic (Norcross Security, #8) is another wonderful book in this series. Lots of chemistry, tension, drama, danger, emotion, mystery, and more you won't want to put it down. He will do whatever it takes to stop evil and protect what is his. A great re-read for me.
The Medic is book eight in the Norcross Security series by Anna Hackett. Ryder Morgan was an Air Force combat medic, so after leaving the military, he became a part-time paramedic and worked at a free clinic. One day at the free clinic, he realised that homeless men are dying in suspicious circumstances, and when he realised that one of the homeless men who was his friend was part of this trend. With the help of Siv Pedersen, who works with Vander Norcross Security, Ryder began investigating. Readers will continue to follow Ryder and Siv to discover what happens.
Reading this book, I began to understand the importance of a free clinic for homeless and low-income communities. I enjoy reading books in this series, and The Medic did not disappoint. It will be sad when I finish this series. I couldn't fall asleep until I finished reading The Medic because I was drawn into the book from the first page.
I enjoy Anna Hackett's portrayal of her characters and how they intertwine throughout this book. The Medic is well written and researched by Anna Hackett. I like Anna Hackett's descriptions of the settings, which let me imagine being part of the book's plot. I recommend this book.
The charming Ryder Morgan is up and HOO-BOY is he a goner once he catches sight of Siv. She, on the other hand, tries valiantly to ignore the simmering sexual tension she feels whenever he's around. The ignoring thing gets a little more difficult when she and Ryder are paired up on an investigation and she gets to see his charm and smolder dialed up to eleven.
Yep, these two have sparks. Ryder's not at all intimidated by Siv or what she can do. He kinda thinks her kickass skills are a turn on. And by "kinda" I mean he's ALL ABOUT the way she can handle herself. Meanwhile, quality time spent together means Siv starts seeing through his surface charm to the kind, intelligent, protective man underneath. Yeah, she's as gone as Ryder once she shakes off her past to see that he's nothing like her ex.
A whole lot of smolder, a little B&E, a group of ladies who easily enfold Siv into their group without thinking twice about it, a fight or three, and two people who can't seem to keep their hands or eyes off one another. There's one more Morgan brother left and...heh. I'm ready to watch him take the fall. *thumbs up*
Yeah, this just wasn't my favorite book in this series. Whenever I'm in the mood for a quick romantic suspense novel, I usually turn to Anna Hackett, but this just didn't scratch the itch for me.
While the suspense part was okay, and I loved seeing our other couples again, the romance just didn't cut it here. They were instantly attracted and we all know I prefer the burn much slower than that. Everything was also very convenient and I felt like both characters were just very shallow. I loved Ryder in the previous books, so this was a bit of a letdown.
This is (I think) my first Norcross Security Book - maybe my second... and I really enjoyed it because I didn't read all the others.
If that sounds like faint praise, it sort of is... not that Anna Hackett isn't a good writer - she is. But series like these seem to fall in their own formulaic tiger pit and reading too many of them too quickly is a recipe for burnout. It's not just her - I've found that to be the case with nearly every author I've enjoyed. After a bit the writing style, which was so fresh and delightful in the first novel, becomes boring and trite.
ANYHOO! Back to this particular writer (and sort of ) this story. I love Hackett because she writes incredibly strong, skilled, accomplished women who are appreciated by the men they become involved with. A Norwegian Special Forces woman taking the lead on a mission in SF's Tenderloin District is reminiscent of my favorite of Hackett's books with the SEAL-trained woman hired to protect the hot male archeologist - and both he (Unfathomed) and the medic in this book consider these women's skillsets to be both useful/necessary and HotAF. What's not to love? (while not Special Forces I have decent combat-adjacent skills; alas too many men have talked tough about liking that - until it becomes obvious they aren't liking it At All. So kudos to Hackett for writing about these unicorns!). This particular story is heavily focused on that particular trope, right down to the penultimate event on the Golden Gate Bridge. Sex is incendiary, and I definitely appreciated that. Ain't gonna lie - hot guys & gals having Fantasy Fabulous Sex is always a bonus. And, as always, Hackett delivers.
Because this book is set in the Bay Area there aren't any 'hot monkey sex in the middle of a snake-infested jungle with villains chasing you' scenes. Hot Sex, to be sure, because Hackett is all about the bangin' but it's all inside (with locked doors AND A BED!!! ). Probably because I'm aged, not inclined to bang in the middle of a jungle and I probably read too many of her Treasure Hunter series, but I found this very refreshing.
From first sight, Ryder is bewildered. The new Norwegian working at Norcross is gorgeous. Ryder has watched his friends and family all settle down into relationships and he never saw the appeal..until now. Ryder is a Medic working part time for the Fire Dept., volunteers his time at a clinic, and helps out when needed at NS. He loves helping people! So when some of his clinic patients start getting sick..and worse..Ryder wants to find out what is going on.
Siv has started at Norcross Security and loves it. Everyone has been amazing to work with. She hasn’t had any luck when it comes to relationships so no men for her. But when she attends a dance, she can’t help but to notice Ryder. At NS, she is given an assignment to find out why people in town are getting sick and worse. The same people at the clinic, so she’ll be working with..Ryder.
Another great read. These stories are relatively short so quick paced, entertaining from beginning to end and keep you invested throughout. One more..look forward to Cam.
Book specific: among my faves of the series with evenly matched MCs, a decent suspense plot and purposely mixing up the danger so that’s it’s not always the the FMC getting kidnapped (well, not every time anyway).
Series review: I needed something to distract me from the blizzard that hit my hometown and this was perfect. I devoured the entire thing in the span of a week and a half. It’s a straightforward, romantic suspense series (think Kristen Ashley with less screwball comedy).
Each book goes like this: FMC is in danger, MMC steps in and says “you’re moving in with me until it’s over,” which means she’s never moving out and they’re falling in love, but one or both fight it a little, cue big dramatic moment where they realize life is short, HEA is triggered. The End. With lots o sex while in danger. This isn’t reinventing the wheel and I’m ok with that, though it’s also why I’m not rating this super high because it was predictable even if enjoyable. Also, ngl part of my need to tear through the series was to get to Vander’s book. In the end this whole series deals with certain tried and true - enemies to lovers, surprise pregnancy, even a bit of royal romance, but it’s the found family built and did I mean took the sex? Yeah that kept me coming back for more.
I loved it at the beginning, but sadly it went downhill.
Siv, (Pronounced Seeve,) is the newest recruit at Norcross. When Ryder meets the Norwegian beauty, he falls in love with her. Siv, doesn’t want to know and hits him when he tries to charm her. When homeless people start turning up in the morgue from organ failure, Norcross is hired to find out what happened.
This is where it lost me. There are homeless people turning up dead, and the police aren’t investigating? Yes I know that they are put down as drug deaths, but that many people dying the same way, WOULD BE INVESTIGATED! Then there’s the fact that Ryder is working with Siv to solve the case, as he’s a medic. When they discover a link to a cancer cure, Ryder is working with Siv as he’ll know what it is??? Erm……. 😱😱😱
It goes really downhill from there. Bad ass Vander doesn’t seem to exist hardly in the whole book. And suddenly he’s never there when things go from bad to worse.
*********Plot Spoiler*************
So at the dramatic conclusion of the case. Siv is taken hostage by the bad man. All the Norcross team aren’t able to stop her leaving a house, and they’re all busy, doing what??? He manages to get her out of the car, and walk to the edge of a bridge, all while being surrounded by police and Norcross!!!! Oh come on!!!! 😡😡😡 And apparently they must have climbed over the edge backwards as Siv is being used as a shield!! 😂😂😂
Seriously Anna Hackett, it didn’t make sense. And I was really really disappointed in how bad it was in places. I’ve always loved this series as it’s fun, and makes me laugh at times. This didn’t do it for me. Sorry.
Another good story in the Norcross Security series by Anna Hackett. We get to meet Siv, a new member of the team who is a badass heroine. It was great seeing Ryder and Siv together and seeing them in action.
La historia está bien escrita y las interacciones entre los protagonistas son dinámicas. La acción y la participación de los personajes secundarios complementan la trama.
Love this series, so much fun to be had. I was a bit nervous about Siv and Ryder taking centre stage without much teasing (long game couples are my absolute faves) but they worked well together and I really loved how Ryder won Siv over with his deeds, not his words or charm. Looking forward to Cam's book!
Ryder Morgan is a former combat medic, who is now a paramedic who is also volunteering at the Anderson Free Clinic in the Tenderloin area of San Francisco, where he treats homeless veterans. Siv Pedersen has recently escaped a cheating boyfriend and needs a new start. She has moved to San Francisco to work for Norcross Security after a career in the Norwegian Special Forces. Ryder and Siv met a few weeks earlier when she flat out decked him on a dance floor. As a result, he is intrigued by her and wants to get to know her better. After her douche of a boyfriend cheats on her, Siv swears off of men for a while. Ryder is trying to convince her to change her mind. Meanwhile, some of these homeless veterans are dying of mysterious causes; the deaths are being passed off as drug overdoses. Ryder and Siv are tasked with investigating deeper into these mysterious deaths.
As usual in an Anna Hackett book, expect action, sexy times, fighting, death threats, a little breaking and entering, bad folks trying to get away with something, and help when it is most needed. This story is gripping and will keep readers from going to sleep if they start it in the evening! Be prepared! You might want to start this story in the morning instead. Many of the Norcross Security Operatives are couples now, and this story gives us a sneak peek into their lives as well. It also sets up one of the final members of the team on his way to finding his own HEA ending and introduces readers to the next generation of the Norcross family. This is a fun and harrowing story at times, but well worth the roller-coaster-ride-feeling.
Four and a half This was both fun and at times emotional to read which I really hadn't expected. Siv and Ryder brought the fun elements as they skirt around each other but boy was he a gorgeous charmer ! I loved that Siv whilst wary of getting involved didn't mess around and frequently made Ryder take a sharp intake of breath. Add in a storyline that showcased the dangers involved in testing new pharmaceuticals with absolutely horrifying consequences and this was extremely interesting. Yes there's heat aplenty here too when Siv decides to take Ryder on but for this reader it was the snarky, quick witted shenanigans they got up too as Siv definitely didn't pull her punches ! Plus the ending was pure sweetness so yes I'm a very happy reader. This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Another great Norcross Security book! Ryder has a thing for Siv and is really excited when he gets assigned to work with her. Siv is a kick butt, former military, extremely independent women who can fight her own battles. She is drawn to Ryder but is trying to fight her attraction to him. Ryder goes above and beyond to help people, that includes homeless vets with mental illness. When they start showing up dead, starting with a friend of his, he will do anything to help solve this problem. While Ryder and Siv work together he gets to shower her with his charm. I have loved this series since the start. Each book has been extremely enjoyable and this one was no exception. I loved These two together and loved their connection. I enjoyed how protective they were of each other and how passionate they were. I like getting caught up on some past characters and meetings new ones! I truly enjoyed this series.
This is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. There is so much to enjoy in this story; humor, suspense, surprises, action, interesting characters, and steamy romance. It was wonderful to see favorite characters from previous books, but of course the most exciting part was the romance between Ryder and Siv. I was totally drawn into the case that Siv and Ryder were trying to solve and get justice for Ryder’s friend. I can’t wait for the next book!
Siv's not down with men, as in, no more men to get in her way of settling into her new normal. She's got a new life now in The City, a new job with Norcross Security, and no charming, gorgeous medic is going to get in her way of starting over. Except, Ryan's intent on changing her mind about the no men part and she's finding it hard to resist him now. Just how much longer is she going to be able to resist? He's a sweetheart - volunteers at a shelter, loves his fellow veterans, and is trying to find out who killed a friend. He couldn't be more swoon worthy if he tried, and this sassy, badass woman is falling hard for him.
I am always down for a badass woman in my reading, and I more than got that with Siv in The Medic. But she's not just badass, she's strong, she's got a heart of gold, and she's unafraid of going after what and who she wants. Ryan was the perfect partner for her with his sweet charm and more than a hint of his own badass nature complemented by his equally caring heart. There's suspense in the form of a truly evil, coldhearted pharma company, and the rest of Norcross coming along to help Ryan and Siv out, steamy sexy times, and two lovable leads surrounded by a superb secondary cast. I can't wait for more Norcross men and women to find love now.

Series: Norcross Security #8 Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
Siv Pedersen is the newest member of the Norcross team. She is determined to start a new life in San Francisco, one that includes no men for a while. But she doesn’t count on having to work with the handsome and tempting former combat medic, Ryder Morgan.
I loved these two. Siv is such a badass heroine and I think I have a little bit of a crush on her. Siv struggles to be accepted by men because of how independent and dangerous she can be. Too many men felt threatened by her and can’t deal with it, but not Ryder. He finds her strength and skills a turn on. I loved how he took every opportunity to tell Siv how amazing she was and how much he loved her ability to take care of herself.
Ryder was a great hero. He accepted all of Siv and never tried to change her, or prevent her from doing her job. He even lets her beat up some punks on her own because he knows she can take care of herself. Ryder is now one of my favorite men from this series.
Ryder and Siv have a very intense relationship with sparks flying from the very beginning. I loved every minute of it, especially the fact that Siv was the aggressor a lot of the time because I loved that this strong woman wasn’t afraid to take what she wanted. I really hope we see more of these two in future books because I really want more of them, especially if Siv is kicking some ass.
The mission these two are on was suspenseful but also a bit heartbreaking. It shows how easily the pharmaceutical industry can be corrupted. Overall, this was an interesting mission with a wonderful couple. I cannot wait to read Cam’s book now.
Trigger warnings: references to sibling death from cancer; death due to malpractice; homelessness; mental illness; drug use discussed;

What happens when you put a charming, cocky medic and a badass former special forces soldier together? You get absolute fire!! The Medic (Norcoss Security #8) is action packed and filled with suspense. Siv is Norwegian and moved to San Francisco to work in private security at Norcoss Security. Ryder is ex military who works as a medic and volunteers at the free clinic and helps out at Norcross Security. Ryder has made is very clear that he’s into Siv. He’s relentless with his flirting, sexy smile and innuendos and he claims her right from the start. Siv has a lot of sass and she’s a tough woman with a guarded heart. However, Ryder is persistent and determined to break down her walls. Although Siv acts like Ryder doesn’t affect her, it’s pointless. That sexy, delicious and swoon worthy man completely charms his way in. Siv is so turned on by him and low key wants Ryder in the worst way. I don’t blame her one bit. He’s utterly irresistible.
Ryder has a good heart and he cares about the homeless people especially the veterans who are patients at the clinic. A relative of a dead homeless veteran (he was a friend of Ryder’s who had gone missing) hires Norcoss Security to investigate his suspicious death and Siv is the lead person on the case. Who better to assist her than Ryder and when they notice a pattern of homeless people dying in the same way, they begin their search to get to the bottom of it. Ryder and Siv make an excellent team with their witty and funny banter coupled with their excellent fighting skills. They’re definitely a force to be reckoned with. And once they got hot and heavy, I needed a cold shower after reading those scenes. They are dirty with a capital D!!
The Medic is the first book that I’ve read by Anna Hackett and it’s a good one. Although it’s part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone and I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything by not reading the previous books. I recommend reading it.
Really enjoying the men and women of Norcross Security and their stories.
Norwegian, Siv, has moved to America for a change of scenery and pace and has taken a job with Norcross. A former armed forces, she’s used to being strong and skilled in combat - and not many men can handle that.
Not Ryder. Paramedic and volunteer at the local free clinic, playboy Ryder has no problem letting Siv know that he finds her special set of skills sexy.
When homeless people are turning up dead, it’s up to Ryder and Siv to work together and uncover what’s really going on.
Loved the romance, loved the action and the storyline was giving me Elizabeth Holmes Theranos vibes. If you like an action packer, fast paced romance then look no further.

I had a really hard time warming up to the H. He was cocky. Liked pushing the h, let a girl put her number on his arm while at the bar with the h, held her when she wanted to get free so she would listen (what happened to no means no), opened the door wearing only a towel when her mom was on the other side, hello use a peep hole (I don't know why this bothered me so much).... So by the time I liked him the story was over.
This OMG 8th book in the Norcross Security series reminded me just how much I love a story when the heroine kicks ass and takes names every bit as well as the hero – or even just a bit better as it proves in The Medic.
After all, that’s what Ryder Morgan is, a medic. He was a combat medic when he served, and now that he’s back in civilian life he’s a paramedic who is serving, protecting and patching up on not just one but three different fronts.
He’s a part-time paramedic with the city of San Francisco who could be full-time if he wanted to. But he’s doing his bit of paying it both back and forward by working part-time at a clinic in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, providing free medical care to people whose circumstances have either led them or left them to life on the occasionally mean streets of this generally temperate (climatologically) city. It gives him an opportunity to treat some of the men and women who served just like he did, in places and circumstances that leave scars on the soul.
And he also works part-time and on call for Norcross Security whenever one of their agents needs more patching up than a first aid kit can handle. Which happens a lot more than he’d like, particularly since one of those agents is his brother Cam, newly returned from a war he hasn’t quite managed to leave behind just yet.
But those agents also include Norcross Security’s newest agent, Siv Pederson from Norway, a former member of Norway’s Special Forces. She’s come to San Francisco to make a fresh start in a place with no memories of a relationship that went bad. It’s not that she’s grieving or mourning her ex – more that she’s kicking herself for ever getting involved with an arsehole just like her dear old (absentee) dad. In other words, a lying, cheating, empty charmer who has nothing underneath and is threatened by her strength and abilities.
At the end of the previous book in this series, The Detective, readers had a ringside seat to Ryder’s first meeting with Siv. He tried to charm her – like he has so many women before – only to find himself measuring his own length on the floor after she showed him exactly where he could stick that charm and what he could do with it when he got it there. She decked him.
He never recovered – and neither did she. This is the story of how she got past her initial impression of Ryder, while he just kept leaning into his first impression of her. All the while, in the usual Norcross Security mix of action, adventure and car chases, they manage to bring down some bad people who thought they had the right to mess with Ryder Morgan’s friends – and Vander Norcross’ city.
Escape Rating A: One of the things that love in any romance is a relationship of equals – and that’s just what we get in The Medic. It’s not just that Siv can hold her own under any circumstances with the best of Norcross Security’s agents. The icing on this particular cake is that Ryder loves her for it just as she is. That he thinks it’s hot when she takes down the bad guys. It’s not a reaction that she’s used to from either her insecure ex or her love-em-and-leave-em sperm donor who is still harping on her to be more “feminine” and less capable of taking men down and seeing through their bullshit. Quite possibly because he’s afraid that she’s seen all the way through his.
But the strength those previous men in her life have tried to control, tame and even eliminate is the thing that draws Ryder to her like iron filings to a magnet. It’s something that is refreshing to see – to say the least – because so many women are stuck dealing with entirely too many people in their lives who see a woman’s strength of any kind as something to be denigrated at every turn.
I also loved in this particular entry in the series that Siv is always proactive and not reactive. It helps that the plot of this story does not start out with Siv being in jeopardy and requiring rescue. She is never a damsel in distress – not that she can’t be in distress but that she’s never damselfied.
One of the hallmarks of this series as a whole is that the Norcross Security operators are all former military in various stages of coming all the way back home – and both Ryder and Siv are part of that. This particular story in the series extends that outward, from the successful bunch at Norcross, to the work in progress that is Ryder and Hunt’s brother Cam, to the homeless veterans on the streets of San Francisco who Ryder is doing his best to help.
As he fully acknowledges that there but for the grace of God and the help of his family, he and his brothers would be also. So he stands for them when he learns the truth of how so many are being abused by the system yet one more time.
The crime that Siv and Ryder are investigating has a ripped from the headlines feel. The unexpected (at least to both of them) romance that has them ripping each other’s clothes off is hot enough to raise the temperature in their slightly chilly city. And the pulse-pounding conclusion to their part of this series will have readers on the edge of their seats.
If that wasn’t enough, there’s a bit of a teaser at the end – as their usually is with this author’s series – for the next Norcross Security case. It looks like Cam Morgan will be taking the series back to New York City, the stomping grounds of the Billionaire Heists series in The Protector. And I can’t wait to see what happens next!
The Medic is the eighth book in the Norcross Security series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading them all in order because it is an amazing series. I have loved meeting the Norcross Security team and all their family. They have such a great bond and are devoted to protecting others. This is Ryder Morgan’s book and we met him in previous books. Ryder and Siv first met in his brother’s book, The Detective, the seventh book in the series. It was certainly a cute meet that has you looking forward to this book. Former Air Force combat medic Ryder Morgan is happy working part-time as a paramedic and volunteering in one of the roughest areas of the city in a free clinic. He has made friends with the people and helps when he can. When one of the men he knows goes missing and is found dead, Ryder is on a mission to discover who is behind the death of the homeless people. Siv Pedersen is new to the city and at Norcross Security so when she is given her first assignment, she is ready to prove herself. Unfortunately, her boss wants her to work with Ryder since he knows the area and has medical knowledge. She had just gotten out of a bad relationship and her rule was to avoid all men for now while she restarts her life over again. As they work together, Siv starts to see that Ryder hides behind his humor and charm. The books in the series keep getting better and better. I was so excited about Ryder’s story, especially after the ending of the previous books. I loved watching Ryder and Siv slowly open up to each other and realize their first impression of each other was wrong. Siv had so much baggage from her relationship with her ex that she had to overcome. I loved how Ryder was secure enough to let Siv be herself and how he showed his admiration for her strengths. I recommend this book if you love action-packed books full of humor and intrigue. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
She’s a tough former soldier trying to resist the charming medic who’s going all in to claim her. Former Norwegian special forces soldier Siv Pedersen is making a new start in San Francisco. New country, new job at Norcross Security, and her new rule: no men.

Her cocky healer
One more action packed read to add to this series. After the last book, I knew this one would be fun, with Ryder and his flamboyant smile and his flirting persona. Even more as Siv did not fall instantly for his sassy charm upon their first encounter, she is determined to stay away from men for a while, so she thought. Ryder has been introduced all the series as one of the Morgan’s siblings, brother of the Detective, previous book hero and of the Protector, next book main character. He is the one who charms everyone, a fellow who hops from one adventure to another. Yet there is of course more to him than his bright smile, and light teasing, he is a man who cares and in his own way helps those who are left behind by society. Siv is here for a new beginning, to leave behind her old life and her bruised pride. So she is on a no-men diet, determined to make her mark before even thinking of entering the dating game again. She just not expected the cheeky medic to go under her skin and dig his way into her case and her life. As they work together, she will discover the man behind the impertinent smile, one who looks at her fiercely, not threatened by her strength and toughness. Another good addition to this series with an impertinent healer and his sturdy lady. 4.5 stars
The Medic is the eighth book in the Norcross Security series by Anna Hackett. This is an intriguing romantic suspense with a swoony former military medic MMC, security operative FMC, an undercover element, fake relationship, forced proximity, chemistry, spice, tension, drama, danger, emotion, mystery, and more. ~Former Norwegian special forces soldier Siv Pedersen is making a new start in San Francisco. Going undercover as husband and wife, they have to discover who’s preying on the city’s most vulnerable before more people die. As they uncover a vast web of lies, Ryder has his work cut out for him. Not only to find justice, but to prove to Siv that he’ll protect both her body and her heart~ Looking forward to the rest of the series. Happy Reading...
Ms. Hackett, from your first book I read, I was hooked! Whether the Billionaires, Hawke security, or Norcross security, every book is another trip into laughter, excellent suspense, and definitely a little chaos! All worthwhile trips!
I loved Ryder and Siv's novel! These two very large personalities were absolutely perfect for one another! Ryder's huge ego, lol, thinks he has it made with a tall blonde beautiful woman, gets him laid out flat at his sister-in-law's art show. Apropos for the man who charms all women. Siv is the woman who isn't drawn in with his charm, flirting, and normal antics. She is however, the woman that sees beyond the facade! Together these two individuals end up on a Norcross case, a case that truly is inhuman and horribly sad! But, even with the case being what it encompasses, Ms. Hackett, again brings humor, excellent suspense, and a love story Ryder and Siv's children will love learning! Ms. Hackett, I have yet to read a single book/novel by you that didn't have me rolling, captured with the thrills, or hanging off the edge waiting for, what is next!
If you've read the rest, then like me you've probably been chomping for seemingly "playboy" Ryder Morgan to fall, guessing he'd be so loveable under tha smile and charm. Gotta say I was falling even harder than I expected when he fell for a bad to the bone female operator who he adored for her strength and abilities and would even stand back and let her do her thing until she needed him to stand beside her...never I front of her... like any fiercely independent strong woman, Siv is wary of relationships and men because they too often want to break strong women rather than embrace them and stand beside them, and she bears the scars from this typical societal norm. I feel her pain in that, but Ryder basks in her strength and does not give up, in fact saddles up to fight for her after she literally knocks him on his butt. As he works to break through her titanium walls, they both find someone to share their pains and weaknesses with as they find danger and action during a deadly investigation with fast-paced suspense. Stella Bloom and Teddy Hamilton do a terrific job of bringing the story to life as always.
