Who says you can't go home?

Coming back to Abbott Ridge and starting over was my plan. But, just like everything in life, plans change. Especially when the interior design reality tv show I dreamed of taking part in gets canceled before filming even begins. Now I'm stuck without a job and forced to rethink how I'll start my own company.

They say you can’t go home again, but I think the author, and our leading lady, have proven that sometimes you can. In this book, I liked Jaime, but I loved Wade. There was just something about seeing all the hard work he was putting in to make his family’s business a success that pulled me in. I found it a very stark difference to the way Jaime was handling her business. I loved that this had a bit of a second chance vibe between our hero and heroine even though they were never actually a coupl ...more

This book is part of the Meet Cute Bookclub collection. Jaime has come home to Abbott Ridge to start her own business. She also hopes to get onto a reality show related to her design field. Things aren’t going quite to plan. The show hasn’t started taking application for the new season yet. She only has so much money in savings. Wade Dempsey now owns the local bar where she worked with him in college. He offers her a job. Wade dated Jaime’s sister for a bit. Nothing to serious. The problem now s ...more

4 Star Review of The Hometown Dilemma (Meet Cute Book Club #7) by Julie Archer

We’re back with the Meet Cute Book Club and this time we are in Abbott Ridge. This is Jaime Harlow and Wade Dempsey’s story and was an entertaining story and a good addition to the Meet Cute Book Club series.
Returning to Abbott Ridge, Jaime had plans but they all came crashing down, now she needs to re think her what she is going to do; that’s when old college friend Wade steps in.
There were parts of this story that

Hometown Dilemma is the next book in the Meet Cute Book Club series. This one coverd a lot of different tropes. It has a small town girl who returns home from the big city to re-evaluate her life and maybe start her own business. The hometown boy trying to keep his family business afloat. They are friends who turn into lovers. But they have different priorities. He is also the sister's ex-boyfriend. I liked it OK. I feel like I have read this one before. I didn't warm up to Jaime for a long time ...more

This is the 7th book in this series, and this is Wade and Jaime’s story, Jaime returns to her hometown to regroup when all her plans go to pot. Wade is working hard to keep his family’s bar going. Wade is Jaime’s closest friends from college, and he is her sister ex-boyfriend. Wade offers Jaime a temporary job working in his bar, until she gets back on her feet. This is a cute story which has family, friendships, emotions, a tad angst, witty banter, humor, fun, and is an enjoyable story. I look ...more

Jamie heard her voice called and wished she hadn't looked up when she sees her younger sister Cami waving an embarrassing banner full of glitter and swirls at the arrival gate. Walking away from a steady job to start her own freelance interior design business in her hometown was terrifying but she needed something to excite her and working for someone else wasn't doing it.

And she kept refreshing her computer screen as it was her dream to be on the interior design reality show Interior Nirvana.

I felt the author played it safe with some of the tropes in this book and takes the easy way out rather than have difficult confrontations with side characters on-page. For example, she kinda-sorta sets up two potential triangles (Cami-Wade-Jaime and Austen-Jaime-Wade). However, it's like she doesn't want to alienate anyone who hates OW/OM in their books because she makes it clear that neither Cami nor Wade have lingering feelings for each other and she makes Austen into a jerk rather than let h ...more

I was very curious about this read from the blurb and as I haven’t read much from this author I couldn’t wait to jump in to a new read!! I’m a sucker for a going back home genre!

Wade seemed to be the all around bar owner who had strong ties to his family and the community. I loved falling for him as I’m sure everyone else will but I had some issues. While I understand we’re the story was going and how things were, parts of him didn’t read the rude, demanding and jerk type of character. I felt pa

You already saw the blurb, so I will not repeat it. We all change ourselves to fit the situation we find ourselves in, and we see Jaime doing this repeatedly--dressing up for her date with Austen and when she goes to New York. At home, she is jeans and shirts. She also becomes obsequious with those she feels she has to impress, while she is relaxed and forthright when at home. Well, mostly--she and her sister have trouble with their self-centered, critical mother. But mom saves the day by preven ...more

Stephannie's 4-Star Review:
Wade is slowly taking over his family's bar but he is getting his father to agree to modernize the bar to get more college students to come in instead of just regulars. He is Jaime's sister Cami's ex-boyfriend and has known Jamie from before she came back to her hometime. But as soon as he sees her he is interested in her but doesn't know if she is interested and what Cami will say about him trying to date her sister.

3. 5 stars. The story for this one got my attention quickly, and it was a short and easy read. I liked the characters and also the way that the sisters were able to deal with one dating the other’s ex-boyfriend without getting overly dramatic. The romance and connection between Jaime and Wade was good and worked perfectly. The steamy scenes were good, although a few parts were kind of awkward or seemed kind of rushed in a way. At the end I felt like there was a little bit more drama needed about ...more

This is the latest in the Meet Cute Book Club series is completely standalone. There were parts of this book that I really liked but there were also parts that I really didn't.
Firstly, the good. I liked the individual characters. I liked the dreams that they each had and I liked their distinct personalities.
The not-so-good. I didn't really like them together. I also understand what Wade got from the relationship, but not Jaime. There were also things that just didn't gel story-wise for me. Jaime

Jaime has come home for a fresh start, but things don't go according to plan. The reality tv show she was going to do got cancelled, and now she needs to figure out how she's going to get her design business off the ground. This was a little difficult to get into. The recent breakup between Wade and Cami left me feeling…a little dirty, truth be told. Yes, he and Jaime had incredible chemistry, but everyone in this story had some immaturity and bitterness to them. Wade and Jaime also managed to almost make a gigantic mess of everything before getting a real shot at their future, but they did pull it all back together with some communication and real discussions about choices. That said, I found myself agreeing with ...more

Another great addition to the Meet Cute Book Club Series. The Hometown Dilemma by Julie Archer is book seven in the series and is quite well done.

Jaime moves back to her hometown of Abbott Ridge to launch her own interior design business. Falling in love with her old friend and sister’s ex wasn’t on the agenda.

Wade owns and manages the family bar with a lot of direction from his family. While struggling to honor his father’s wishes to keep the bar the same, Wade hatches some plans to modernize

Jamie came home to Abbott Ridge with some goals in mind. First is to get onto the reality show Interior Nirvana, the second is to start her own Interior Design firm. When Wade joins them with his best friend Austin, he prompts Jamie on her plans now that she's moved home.

Both are trying to figure out how to move forward in a big way in their chosen career, never expecting to find solace in each other's arms. But his life is in small-town NC and hers is in the big city of NY. They will have to decide where their life together will be. A guaranteed HEA with a bit of spice.

The Hometown Dilemma by Julie Archer

Another great addition to the Meet Cute Club and another new author to explore. I loved Wade he was everything needed in a perfect leading man. He was such a family man loved fiercely and would do anything for the people he cared for. I was not quite a huge fan of Jamie but she was likable at times. I think I kinda disconnected from her starting with the fact that she knew feo the get going they her SISTER dates Wade which gross. I mean I would never and I mea

I love how each story in the Meet Cute Book Club Series is unique and this one was no different. Wade and Jaime were both following their dreams and things weren't always looking up. They are challenged and the believable feel of those battles is is what kept me engaged. At first I was apprehensive due to the recent break up of Cami (Jaime's younger sister) and Wade but the truth of that relationship and Jaime's past friendship with Wade prevailed.

Positives: Cami & Jaime's relationship, Wade's P
