For those who are interested in inventors, black history and Lewis Latimer himself, this book works as an introduction. Told through lists of facts and visuals instead of as a narrative.

40 pgs. This is a good book to learn about a relatively overlooked African-American inventor. The book has helpful photos, diagrams, maps, fact boxes, and illustrations to explain the details of his life. It is colorful and interesting. Kids will learn a lot about him and the historical context in which he lived and worked. I plan to purchase the whole series. Kids will enjoy reading this one. The layouts are engaging and a glossary and index are included at the end of the book. Highly recommended for Grades 3-5.
