At long last, Noir has released his master, Olivia, from the Death Chains that kept her bound in the hidden dungeon. But before she’ll agree to train him in earnest, he’ll have to earn one hundred thousand LP! On top of that, the Hero Academy is about to kick off its annual series of competitions to determine the king and champion of the school. And then there’s the new girl in town, Mira Santage, treasure hunter extraordinaire. With all the excitement, Noir’s going to have to give his all to prove he’s worthy of his master’s tutelage.
The biggest thing I liked about this book was when Noir won his academy’s competition, he wasn’t a total creep about his prize. The prize was getting anything he could want as the King of the School for the day, so while other winners might’ve asked for kisses from the girls or something more extreme, Noir played the perfect gentleman and asked for hugs from all the girls to increase his LP to get closer to 100,000 LP to formally request Olivia be his mentor. It was such a simple request from Noir, but it showed his straight-arrow kind of personality, where he’d rather be gently proper than a boorish perv.
Even though I cared about pretty much all the characters in this book and have loved Emma Brightness as my favorite character overall, Olivia Servant claims first place as my favorite heroine after being released from the Hidden Dungeon, I like Noir even more now than I ever have before. He does right by everyone and always strives for the good of everyone around him while still considering himself a bit of a coward, which he is anything but!
The only thing that felt semi-unrealistic to me about Noir as a character was his gentleman nature to the extreme. It’s a rare young man these days to want to hold back from intimacy with a beautiful girl, yet Noir sticks to his virtue and wants his first time to be special, deep, and meaningful despite having numerous girls clearly show their affection for him through their choose me to be your first actions, no matter how lowkey they are. In that regard, it’s interesting to encounter a young man who puts friendship over intimacy, but that might just be because I don’t know many modern gentlemen to begin with. Concerning Noir and the perfect girl for him, I’m shipping Noir and Emma over Noir and any other girl.
I felt so much excitement as I read this book, but I also felt bittersweetness as this book is the last in The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter series and wasn’t prepared at all to say farewell to the characters I’ve grown to love so much. This book series was awesome in so many ways, and I can’t wait to watch the anime adaptation later today!
I don’t care if I sound like a broken record by now; my favorite part in reading this book was the entirety of reading this whole book! I wasn’t bored with any scene, nor irritated by the Lucky Letcher mishaps that increased Noir’s LP, and I felt like I was there in the book alongside Noir! Give me my dad’s compound bow and gather my hunting knives; I need a machine of literary magic to transport me into this series, so I can become an adventurer as well! I’d be an idiot not to want this so badly, ha-ha!
The only scene that broke my heart in reading this series from start to finish was Tigerson’s abandonment by his first friend; the elf who asked Tigerson to wait for him while he went deeper into the dungeon and became stuck. After Noir freed him, the elf said a final farewell to Tigerson, and I felt somewhat emotional inside, because I always cry over videos of pets being abandoned by their owners, and this gave me that sort of vibe. I don’t care if the elf was the kindest to his own kin, he was cruel to Tigerson, and I can’t overlook that as quite the animal enthusiast I am. What fixed my shattered heart towards Tigerson’s situation was when Noir “adopted” Tigerson and gave him a second chance at having a family—that was so beautiful! No scene in this book, specifically, left me with a negative impression, but as a series, what I just described truly did… and now I’m going to move on before I get overly emotional about animal abandonment stories!
There were quite a few scenes in this book that had me laughing; anytime Noir triggered a Lucky Letcher event and gained LP was quite amusing to me. My favorite Lucky Letcher scene was when Emma and Noir drank each other under the table in hopes of “winning” Noir for themselves. I won’t go into all the details, but I thought it was hilarious when Noir conveniently groped Mira accidentally. There are artworks at the beginning of every book depicting a scene or two, and Noir’s accidental handsy-ness was one of them.
This book was undoubtedly a page-turner, and the only thing I disliked about this book was that this was the final installment in The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter series! I have nothing more of Noir’s adventures to read about, and it sent me into quite a book depression afterwards. Not even watching the anime adaptation of this series on Crunchy-Roll could help, because the books are always better than the movies! What do I do now? Ugh! On a bit of a sidenote, if you know about any books similar to this series, please let me know in the comments section below, because I want to get over this book depression and read those books you’ve just mentioned as soon as humanly possible! Thank you in advance; you’re awesome!
There was indeed a cliffhanger ending in this series, but I still don’t know if I entirely loved it, or entirely hated it, because there’s nothing more in this epic saga for me to read, so I’m left in the dark as to the next would-be scene, and that drives me crazy in all the best and worst ways! Ack, I need to know! Meguru Seto, what were you thinking?! Whatever else you write in the future, I’m undoubtedly here for it all!
If I were the author of The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter series in lieu of Meguru Seto having written it, there isn’t a whole lot I’d change to make this series better, because I feel it’s perfect just as it is. I’d probably rewrite a scene or two to give the elf who abandoned our dearest Tigerson more of a heart; and I’d want to develop a more monogamous relation-ship for Noir and one of his “girlfriends,” but I still love this series as-is! Yes, even though this entire saga ends with a cliffhanger ending… Those types of books are always a hit or miss for me, with nothing in-between, and even now, I can’t tell if I love it or hate it!
If I could recommend this series to anyone, I’d say this saga is custom-made for anyone in love with high fantasy video games, guys or girls! The artworks within the books are well-suited for teenage boys who’re nerdy, but I think that’s relatively okay. I don’t know what I should rate this book, but I’d rate the series overall a 10/5 stars! I don’t know how to describe this series as a combination of other high fantasy books, but if you’re someone who enjoyed the Dungeon Dive series, you’ll definitely love The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter series as soon as you finish reading the first page of the first book. It’s a page-turner, is so much more multilayered than a literary onion, has the action and cutesy side of all anime, and proves that a young gentleman, literary or otherwise, can still find value in keeping his virtue. That is something I don’t often see as a reader of so many books. Noir is so different than the plethora of heroes I’ve read about, and I love him for that. Noir Stardia, legend adventurer and Padawan of Olivia Servant, let me join you in your next quest! I’ll have my satchel packed with my knife collection and my compound bow ready to launch (if you're wondering, yes, I legitimately have these things!); I’ll be waiting for you, my friend, ha-ha!
Volume 6, has stories all over the place... Noir uses LPs (Life Points) to gain skills that will only be useful but an instant. With costs of over 1500 LPs, most quests, adventures, or goals, become more expensive than the "rewards" that he receives from achieving them. His costs are higher than his "gains-profits". I feel that since Noir, the main character freed Olivia, his "master-sensei" from the Secret Dungeon, Noir has barely entered and improved on the Dungeon in this volume 6 he only enters it at the end... There is an end of the year ranking contest (King of the School) amongst all of the students of the "Hero-Academy". With Noir's edit-modify and create "cheat" skills it would be impossible for Noir not to come out on top. Not that the winner would gain anything (except maybe bragging rights). Although Olivia's strategy of confusing Noir by Emma showing all of her curves, was a "dirty" way to make Noir lose his interest in the championship....but Noir is always selfish and exploitative of his "harem" retinue, so who knows who'll win in the end....and get a hug from all the girls and some extra LPs. This Volume 6 has 9 chapters and over 200+ pages. A possible new member of Noir's "Harem" retinue in the new character Mira. Noir has millions from all the loot he has gained, but spends his weapons, artifacts and money to gain LP (Life Points) and spends it on the "dumbest" and most "useless" short term or one time use skills. Because story is all over the place, I really have no idea where this story series is going. I feel the author has run out of ideas. Noir's family members are more stereotypical than actual real characters (from a lack of information from them). Noir spends most of his time between Emma, Luna and Olivia. Lola being the receptionist and the Adventurer's Guild has a small part in this volume. His teacher Elena (his other teachers aren't even mentioned), his classes, are barely mentioned as well. Maria, the girl he saved with Luna's help, was mentioned once.
