بإمكاننا اعتبار الفحص، إلى جانب القصة السريرية أدواتٍ لا يمكن التقليل من شأنها. وفي بعض الاختصاصات هناك خصوصياتٌ لهذين القسمين من الممارسة الطبية. ففي طب الأطفال مثلاً، لا يمكن اعتبار القصة السريرية مرضيةً إلا إذا احتوت تاريخ التطور الحركي والعقلي للطفل (خاصةً إذا كان الطفل موضع النقاش دون الخمس سنوات). وفي طب الأعصاب، بإمكان الفحص العصبي الدقيق أن يعطينا من المعلومات ما لا يقدر بثمن، ويوفر علينا الكثير من الجهد والوقت. ولذلك أرى هذا الكتاب واجب القراءة لأي طالب طبٍ يسعى لاختصاص العصبية أو حتى للطلاب غير المتخرجين المهتمين في هذا المجال.
والقصد من وراء هذا الكتاب تغطية موضوع الأعصاب المحيطية فقط، وعلى الرغم من أنني لا أعتبرها نقطة ضعف، إلا أنني كنت أتمنى وجود قسمٍ عن الجهاز العصبي المركزي.
الكتاب غنيٌ بالصور والرسومات التي تم دائماً التعليق والتعقيب عليها مما يساعد حقاً على فهم المواضيع المختلفة.
لكن، هناك موضوعٌ رأيته شخصياً غايةً في الأهمية لكن الكتاب أغفله ألا وهو المنعكسات، فكيف يمكن أن تكتب كتاباً عن فخص الجهاز العصبي المحيطي دون ذكر هذا الموضوع!
على أي حال، كتابٌ جيدٌ أنصح به.
Examination, besides taking history, are crucial items which there importance cannot be underestimated in medicine. Anyway, some part of these couples have unique properties depending on the specialty. For example, in pediatrics, the patient's history will not be sufficiently complete unless it contains information regarding the mental and motor development (especially when we are talking about children under 5). In neurology, we have the nervous system examination, which could give us invaluable information and spare us a lot of time and effort. Thus, I see this book a must-read book for any medical student who looks forward to study neurology or even for the undergraduate.
The book is intended to cover the subject of peripheral nervous system only; it is not a drawback but I wish it contained information concerning the central nervous system.
The book is rich in photos and illustration followed by comments which really help the reader to comprehend the different issues.
One thing I found personally highly important but unfortunately was not mentioned here is the reflexes, how can you write a book about peripheral nervous system examination without mentioning this topic!
Anyway, a good book I recommend.
