In a place where realms combine and portals open passages to the unknown, a prophecy speaks of fertility being restored to his people through the taking of King Kabril's mate.

The prophecy neglects to mention she lacks something vital to his kind--wings. Kabril, King of the Buteos Regalis has no interest in taking a human mate. His kind believes humans are dirty, vile cre

King of Prey is book one in the King of Prey series by Mandy M. Roth. This was my first book by Mandy Roth and now I’m wondering what the heck took me so long!

Giulio Maria Berrutil.:

King Kabril, King of the Buteos Regalis is a bird shifter, specifically a hawk. His kingdom has been suffering. There have been no new children born in years. The streets no longer carry the sounds of children’s laughter. Morale is low, people are unhappy. It is prophesied that King Kabril must go to the human realm of earth and he will fi

This was free on Amazon. So I thought why the hell not?
I liked it, I've never read a bird shifter book before and it was cute.
Hero was gone for the heroine from the moment he meets her and some of the things he said was cute and had me laughing. I liked how he wooed her even though he thought she wasn't his mate, the heroine was the typical heroine. I don't think I have to say what I meant by that.

There were things that bothered me, like the whole kingdom had a ha

4 1/2 stars, This is one great shifter romance. I will always hold a special place in my heart for paranormal romance, it was my first jump into romance an all I read for years. After several years of only reading PR I moved to other genre's and seemed to move on from PR. But it was never because I don't love this genre, I always will I think I read so much that I got burned out for a while and then just plain couldn't find any good paranormal romance books. I always keep an eye out for a good p ...more

Apparently this is a re-release that has been extended since its original publication. I’ve never read a shifter story with an avian hero before so was interested to see what the author would do. Well if honest I didn’t find Kabril to be very heroic unfortunately as he’s spoiled, egotistical and at times downright hotheaded. Still I do understand that he’s always been feted by those around him so can forgive some of his behaviour. After all no matter how much he wants to lick th

Cute & Sexy Hot Read!

This was such a cute and fun read; I think I smiled all the way throughout the book. The characters connection was perfect as it showed a close friendship between the King Kabril and his loyal old friend and advisor “Sachin” as well as creating the friendship between Kabril and his future mate Rayna (human).

The romance between Kabril and Rayna grew sweetly with friendship and trust; and I loved how the relationship developed into an undeniable attraction between the two.
I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I ended up liking this book. I'm not one for bird shifter stories but for King Kabril I did. He's not too fond of humans nor having one as a mate. But meeting Rayna has made him feel things he's never felt. She isn't like every other woman he has encountered. She's different from other humans. And giving her up is out of the question. No matter how madly attracted he is to Rayna, he's going to have to win her over. She's not someone to be ordered around. And ...more
The hero was your typical alpha male know it all, but he was funny and no one took him seriously anyway.

So this story was a setup for the entire series. Reyna is all alone in the world after her grandmother passed. She is a funny character. She does not try to be this prisy, damsel in distress heroine. She understands her flaws and she understands that she cannot protect herself at all times and she doesn't attempt to.

Kabril is King and he totally uses that to his advantage. When they first meet one another he is attracted to her and he wants to just take her back to his bed and ravish her but he

This ebook was alright. It was enough to keep me entertained and to keep reading, but the actual plot of the story was a bit lackluster. I did like how Kabril learned to respect Rayna rather than just wanting to sleep with her 24/7 lol. Overall, I wouldn’t read this story again, but it was okay to read during breaks at work.

The Good
· Good storyline.
· Fun secondary characters.
· Nice scenery descriptions.
· Well developed male protagonist.
· Appreciable world building.
· Made me want to continue reading the series.

The Bad
· Rayna's acceptance of the paranormal. She barely batted an eyelash IMO.
· Though resolved, I feel that the conflict in Kabril's and Rayna's relationship was somewhat glossed over.
· Kabril's entitled, imperialistic behavior. I
2.5 stars. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. The author did one of those "Three months later" chapter headings after the hero & heroine meet. The shortcut has them jumping on eachother but the reader is cheated out of their flirting and initial conflicts.
I didn't feel very attached to any of the characters.

The sex was minimal. It was beyond young adult for certain but I wouldn't call it erotica.
The world setup wasn't too shabby. There's a world of avian shifters with magic and conflict bet
Fast paced jumps from the met to three months later then it's over. Okay read if you just want something to fill a bit of time with.

I thought this book was okay. I didn't really like the hero or heroine too much. Actually both were a little irritating. Hope the rest of the series is better.

The H is arrogant, over indulged and it makes him seem stupid. Fortunately his adviser and friend, is smart and knows what he needs to do for their king and their kingdom. He needs to fool the King, the H. The h is a sugary sweet human, but unfortunately turns into thoughtless madwoman when the H pushes her buttons. She judges him harshly but easily forgives others. It was good but the too common character tropes detracted from a slightly different shifter story - bird shifters on the brink of w ...more

This was a great book. I wish it was a little longer because I love the story. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.

King Kabril needs to find a mate to fulfill a prophesy and fertility of his people but with one catch... it needs to be a human. Kabril doesn't like humans that much. But for his people then he will do it. He must travel to the Earth realm to find his mate. He meets Rayna instead and starts to practice his wooing skills on her. Rayna gets close to Kabril and during a campin

I haven’t read too many bird shifter books. This is definitely one to add to your library! The shifters in this book don’t turn into tiny little birds, oh no, they are larger than life huge birds of prey. And Kabril, he is the King.

King Kabril must take a wife in order for the mating magik to begin, and for the people of his kingdom to once again have children. It is his duty. Sachin, his friend and right hand man, tells him that he must woo an earth woman to fulfill the prophecy. This doesn’t

****A gifted copy was provided by the author for an honest review****

King Of Prey is a book which is sci fi /paranormal mixed with erotic romance. Kabril, King of Buteos Regalis, is seeking his mate who can help bring fertility back to his people. There is a prophecy stating that the mate would bring fertility back BUT the prophecy DID not mention she would be human and from another realm. Another problem Kabril has is that his kind believes humans are dirty and have to rely on artificial means
The immortal bird shifter Kabril, King of the Royal Eagles has enough to worry about. Like the impending war with the Peregrine Falcons and declining birth rates. Now, their Oracle has told him that Kabril's mate is to be found on Earth and she will make him fall in love with her. The only problem is that Kabril hates the vile and wingless humans who need planes to fly. How could he ever fall in love with one so beneath him?

Enter Rayna Vogel; wildlife photographer and bird cooker extraordinaire.

I recieved an arc of this book by the author for an honest review.

I have to say that i really like how Mandy writes.
This story is short, funny, sexy and keeps your interest.
We meet the bird men royal hawks and specific we meet their king that the profecy has it he is to be mated to a human.
Kabril is not overly happy about that fact and tries to avoid it but he finds himsel in earth and overly drawn to Rayna.
Can these two find happiness?
A really sweet and funny story that will keep you reading and

I don't often read bird shifter book, but this was not too bad.

Kabril is King of the Eagles in a realm apart from Earth. They didn't really go into detail about this but the realm can only be accessed by some portals in the the Bermuda Triangle.

Kabril's people are having problems having babies so he comes to Earth to find his destined mate. I really liked his friend Sachrin. He convinces Kabril that he has to woo Rayna and get her to care for him. It gets pretty steamy.

2 and 1/2 star!!

I loved the idea of this book. Unfortunately, it felt like it could have gone a bit smoother.

Not sure the characters, with their designations in the story, felt like they were developed enough.

It kills me that this could have gone a lot better, cause I know that I LOVED the theme and idea..

Oh well.
This was the 2nd book that I read where the shifters are birds.
I just find this too short to have a development between the H and the h.
Overall, it wasn't a bad read.

King Kabril is happy with his life in Buteos Regalis. Rayna Vogel is sad to be selling her grandmother's home. A trip to earth for a mate and meeting the beautiful neighbor, may just change his mind. She thinks he's a strange veterinarian with a unique assistant. They can't deny their passion. Will his secret keep them apart?

A bossy king who is above everyone else, especially the human race that are see as barbaric and pitiful. Though because of a proficiency he has to claim one.

It’s a nice little book that drives more on sexuality, lust and desire then anything else. Driving the characters together because of their desire for one another. If there was a build up of normal intimacy from getting to know each other and making memories in the book, showing the development of their relationship i would feel more connected

I do enjoy shifter books and this was an ok read that was easy and fast paced an easy vacation read. The H was the typical Alpha out of place and time (ok realm) trying to “woo” the girl; the h was easy going and accepted the shifter/different realm thing easily (that was kind of strange) she also had spunk when needed that was fun to read. Kabril, King of the Buteos Regalis, Kabril is need of a Mate to fulfill the prophecy, but that is the furthest thing from his mind, specially a human female as the Prophecy states is his mate.
Sachin and Kabril travel to earth via a portal that connects his world to earth , now all he has to do is woo her and fall in love with her.

I recently read in a different book the phrase “rolled his eyes so hard he saw stars”. After reading this book, I completely understand what that phrase means. I’m sure I’ll have an eye-strain headache tomorrow from rolling my eyes so very hard during this. It was fun. I’m not sure it was intended to be as funny as I found it. This reminded me a lot of SE Smith’s Valdier (and related) series with the domineering alpha shifter male and the clueless human female, and a whole lot of graphic purple ...more

An independent human woman meets a handsome strange man with an odd way to phrasing things. Used to just take what he want`s Kabril has his difficulties to "woo" his human mate. His courtship is funny. He is a real caveman. Good for him, that there was an instant attraction.

King of Prey is book one in the King Of Prey Series; but can be read as a stand alone.
