Sea Island Wolves #2
Taming Samantha
TAMING SAMANTHA [Sea Island Wolves 2] Samantha Hark is running from one werewolf when she ends up in the arms of two. Can she overcome her fears and insecurities to trust in the love they offer her or will her time run out as her past closes in with deadly intent? JD and Caleb McBane aren't about to let anything or anyone stop them from claiming their mate, even if that person is Samantha herself. The mating musk may render their feisty mate pliant to their commands, but when it wears off, Samantha is back in fighting mode. Can JD and Caleb tame Samantha before her enemies strike the killing blow? *** "I love werewolf stories and menages, so I combined the two! What I most loved about this story is the concept of the mating musk. It acts as the ultimate aphrodisiac. While it may render Samantha pliant to the commands of her two Alpha mates, it doesn't take away from her feisty nature!" ~ Jenny ~

44 books227 followersThroughout my life, I’ve always been an avid reader. Reading fed my need to dream and fantasize about what could be. As a latchkey kid I’d spend hours at the library earning those shiny stars the librarian would paste up on the board after my name.
I credit my grandmother’s yearly visits as the beginning of my obsession with romances. When she’d come, she’d bring stacks of romance books, the old fashioned kind that didn’t have sex in them. Imagine my shock when I went to the used bookstore and found out what really could be in a romance novel.
I’ve been writing stories for years and have found a particular love of erotic romances. In this genre, women are no longer confined to a stereotype and plots are no longer constrained to the rational. I love the anything goes mentality and letting my imagination run wild.
I hope you enjoyed running with me and will consider picking up another book and coming along for another adventure.

When JD McBane shows up to introduce himself around the new race park that is opening in his town, he finds himself confronting his mate and she wants nothing to do with him. Samantha Hark has no plans to being taken advantage of by another man, especially another werewolf.
Life has never been easy for Samantha, and it does not look like it will get an easier when she finds out that JD has a twin Caleb who is equally invested in making her their mate. Samantha is just not going to succumb easily to the two men who make her quiver with need, she is going to put up one hell of a fight along the way.
I gave this a 3.5, my only issue with the whole book is that JD and Caleb are so aggressive in the beginning you wonder what is the interest there, it took awhile to soften to them in the book.
**Reread, I liked it better the second time but that is because I knew and realized JD was a numbskull. Caleb is the softer of the two but both still have the caveman mantra down pat.

Look I'm a masochist when it comes to Jenny Penn. I read her stories even though I know they will cause my feminist self to curl up and whimper. Why you ask? Well her super hot alpha heroes aren't *pretending* to be misogynist jerkoffs for the purpose of sexy times they ARE misogynist jerkoffs who think (and loudly insist) women should be sweet, chaste (until they meet them) and demure and are obsessed with getting them pregnant. Penn's heroines tend to talk a big game then collapse into a puddle of hormones whenever the men so much as look at their vaginas. There is often dubious boundary-disrespecting sex that skates the line of non-consent.
That being said, I kind of love this book. It's probably my favorite Penn novel, The story is good, Samantha is pretty funny, the romance is sweet and the sex is... well it's hotter than hell. But, like I said, total masochism to anyone with a low tolerance for sexism because hoo boy, the heroes JD and Caleb are bossy, pushy, bed-chaningly backward AND they produce a hormonal musk that makes their mate want to bang them against their better judgement which... Hello? Rapey?
This book embodies the dilemma Roxane Gay NAILED in Bad Feminist. The dilemma comes when you as a feminist woman adore something you know is bad for your gender, humanity and society at large but you can't help but like it. Where do you go from there? Well I've decided to embrace my love of Taming Samantha, I enjoy it for what it is, a hot romance novel about an experience that I would hate to encounter IRL. And if you're kinky and have a high pain threshold you might want to read it too.

J D and his twin brother Caleb are looking for a mate. J D finds her in Samantha. When they first meet they get into an argument. J D realizes Samantha will never agree to be their mate so he releases his mating scent. The mating scent makes your mate pliable and she looses the will to resist. So he preceeds to have sex with her and bites her , which will turn her into a were, all without consent. This did not sit well with me. Once the mating scent wore off Samantha was back in fighting form. J D was such an Uber Alpha that he constantly threatend and doled out punishment. If Samantha had her own thoughts- punishment, if she did not agre3e with him- punishment. He came across as a total jerk. His brother Caleb was not quit as bad. He was running interference alot of time. While the sex was pretty hot, the use of the mating scent kind of made me question the consent of the sexual acts.
I like alpha guys but this was way over the top.

Jenny Penn has written a hot and imaginative tale about a strong woman forced into a difficult situation while running from another. Definitely a hard-core story that will leave you needing a cold drink (or shower) when you finish reading. I haven't read the first in the series, but this book stood alone just fine (and it's on my TBR list as well *LOL*).

Re-read as the story was calling me! As the sheriff, JD McBane makes a courtesy visit to the new business owners and all he finds is his mate and he is awfully excited by this turn of events! So much so that he lets nature take its' course in the driveway against his squad car before bundling her up and taking her home for the weekend and presenting her to Caleb. Come Monday, everyone needs to go to work, so JD and Caleb leave Samantha chained to their bed, a completely logical plan to them, not so much to her and she contacts her sister to come get her. Then begins the chase, with Samantha taking off and JD and Caleb trying to convince her to stay. All three of these people have a strong will and it easy to see why they are perfect for each other as they move towards their life together. One of the highlights of the book is at the end and Sam's actions when she transforms into a wolf the first time, just showing that her personality stays with her in either form!!

Technically I skimmed. Not bad, the twins were hot. Gotta love twins. Not much to say. Typical of what you would expect. I would read more from this author though.

Welp, I really wanted to like this one, but no.
The idea of a certain sect of weres having the ability to release a scent to arouse their mates is great in concept, but in reality is nothing more than a date rape drug the way it's written. She loses all control, no longer has the will to say "no" (even though she's been saying it vehemently and physically fighting to get away from her "mates" prior to the drug...errr, "mating musk" sorry...was released).
2 strong, luscious twins who are devoted to her...also sounds nice, right? Wrong. They are barbaric apes with a 1-track mind (sex), who absolutely refuse to listen to anything she has to say and order her around (oh, and they'll handcuff her to a bed when she refuses to "stay". That's always nice.)
Yeah, as I said. Wanted to like it, concept was good, application was absolute shit.
Oh, and don't get me started on the grammar and spelling issues.

If you call being raped over and over and owned by force and date rape drugs is really hot as long as the men are hot looking then this is romance for you. Otherwise it is just a dark erotica where heroine gets raped and abused and there is no HEA because she is brainwashed in the end with the excessive use of the date rape drugs.
And dont tell me it is not a date rape drug because it is a natural musk for them. They use it to subdue her and make her compliant to their demands of sex and ownership.
Poor girl tried to fight so much, I am really upset that it was not HEA

I don't know what to think of this. She was drugged out of her mind, then the brothers used it to their advantage. Isn't that comparable to rape. I don't know what to think. :(

Is there anything hotter than having a sexy man whose solely focused on giving you pleasure? Yup, Make that 2 sexy hot men focused on giving you pleasure.
This book is filled with steamy passion not limited to the bedroom.
I love that even though Samantha is surrounded by 2 alpha wolves who want nothing more than to fulfill her every wish, she doesn't give up her independence and stays true to herself.

Loved this one. The creation of the pack of twin werewolves works very well when it comes to the sex scenes as well as the HEA. The female lead is absolutely charming, and the paranormal elements are still creepy.

JD and Caleb are Alpha males. When J D first meets Sam he is all macho ****hole. He does grow on you after a while. I loved Sam she all posts and vinegar. Well written and enjoyable. If you enjoy reading shapeshifter romance with menage then you will love this one.

I did not enjoy this one as much as the first one of this series. The plot was just not there. It was still a good erotic story just not the paranormal romance that mating claire was.

This is a really hot read. It's mostly sex, sex, and more sex, but it's written well enough it's held together. I really have a crush on the hero's too. Yummy werewolves.
