Finally realizing what she wanted to be when she grew up, she wrote The Baron and the Bookseller, which won the Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart award in 1993.

A charming tale about a young man who is jilted by his fiancée, and a young lady who becomes his friend...and much more, although it takes a while for them to realize their feelings for one another. Along the way, Lord Pelham is jilted again by his fiancée and by his new fiancée.

Cute traditional-style Regency story about a girl whose fiance thinks he still has feelings for a woman who jilted him. Meanwhile the girl herself decides that if the man she loves (Baron Pelham) isn't in love with her, she'll be better off marrying her best friend's widower father, the 39-year old Duke of Harwood, who is very strongly attracted to our heroine. I must say that I found the duke a much more attractive prospect than Baron Pelham (but that's just me, I guess).

Mildly amusing, if a bit on the silly side. All this business about "pantaloons" - that is what Regency men wore so I think she meant, possibly, pantalettes - at any rate, Davida (definitely not Davie!) wouldn't have been showing them off in the Park. The interaction with the Patronesses & her beaux was a bit too familiar. It all ends happily, although I think she chose the wrong one.
