This is another adventure with the Briscoe family we have come to know and love. Kellie Coates Gilbert just keeps getting better and better. I love seeing these characters evolve and grow throughout the series. The family pulls together to fight economic ruin following a storm that destroyed most of their pineapple plantation. Amid a new romantic friendship, Ava is there for her friend Alani as she battles aggressive breast cancer. There are some other problems that plague family members. I love this book and, indeed, the series. Ms Gilbert describes the beauty of Maui so well I feel I am there.
I read this book as an ARC and wish to thank the author and the publisher. The ideas in this review are strictly my own.
The Briscoe Family continues to rebuild their Pali Maui pineapple plantation as new adventures await. Tom’s mom is a piece of work and I hope Ava and Tom continue their relationship despite his mom. Looking for to seeing where the Briscoe Family goes next.
This book was a great summer read! Kellie Coates Gilbert has done it again in the Maui Island 5th Book, Ohana Sunrise. Ava Brisco’s family is facing a hardship after a storm hit the island of Maui and caused extensive damage to Pali Maui, their pineapple plantation. The family all pitches in to help rebuild their family legacy. Ava continues to deal with her best friend’s battle with cancer while beginning to open her heart to love with Tom Strobe. However, Ava isn’t sure she can deal with hidden secrets again. Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my own opinion.
Another five star read from this author. The descriptions continue to paint a vivid picture of beautiful Hawaii and it scenery and lifestyle
The Briscoe family continue to work on rebuilding Pali Mai plantation after extensive storm damage. Ava and her children continue to have a strong family bond of love and support for each other
Ava works to support her friend’s extensive battle with breast cancer. She slowly begins to trust and rebuild her personal life after she develops feeling for her golf course designer Tom. When she decides to accompany him to Boston for his Mother’s 80th birthday she realizes Tom has been keeping secrets; which may damage their relationship beyond repair
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
This story is the 5th book in the Maui Island series. This book focuses on Ava, the matriarch of the family. As usual, the descriptions of the settings in the book are amazing. The characters are depicted in such a way that you feel you know them personally. If you haven’t read this series, don’t wait to start it. I suggest starting with the first book in the series. I am impatiently waiting for the next book in this series!
In the aftermath of the storm that hit Maui, the entire Briscoe family works hard to find ways to generate income while the pineapples are damaged. Ava and Tom continue to plan the golf course renovations despite those monetary hits to Pali Maui. Their relationship also continues to grow, but they do face dire hardships. I love following the Briscoe family, and I can’t wait to see what they’re up to next!!
This series is one of the best I have read .The characters and the storylines are relatable to real life situations. This family has been through a lot, but they are strong and stand together through thick and thin .I love that Ava is getting a second chance at love, exploring love after a tragic loss and bitter secrets. I adore this fictional family, look forward to more stories .
As always we grew with all the family members, and friends, we laughed, we might of cried, we got angry, we dealt with cancer, un forgiveness, concerts, we cheered and we relaxed on the beach. A few surprises and a verbal fight completed book. 5.
Kelly’s books keep me coming back for more of the story of the Briscoe family. I love the mix of characters and their many challenges. I sincerely appreciate the mix of Christian perspective and faith struggles presented in her storyline. It’s true to life and very freshly presented.
My feelings for the characters remain unchanged except for growing admiration for Ava and Alani. I really dislike Vanessa the leech, who would not consider sacrificing her absurd luxury purchases to help when everyone else did. I am almost afraid to see what happens next and hope that everyone makes wise choices!
This story is heavy on Christel and Ava. I love how I feel emotionally invested in these characters. I can feel myself getting upset. I can feel myself wanting to give advice. I could not stop reading last night and then it was over.... now onto 6. I absolutely love this series.
Loving this series. The Briscoe family is a perfect example of what Ohana should be. Ava as the matriarch has to be one of the strongest women I know. Even after the betrayal of her husband, she stays strong for her adult children, and carries on with everything that life throws her way.
