Eight months ago I married a stranger to help with a “green card” situation. Now I need a wife for real to help save my family’s ranch. I’ve only met Birdie the one time, but I remember very clearly that she’s remarkably smart, adorably shy and has curves I want to spend the rest of my life exploring. But now I have to give her an ultimatum: either be my wife for real or we have to get divorced so I can find someone else for the job. The only problem; she’s the only woman I want.
Birdie
The only thing I remember about the man who came to my rescue is that he’s a barrel-chested, thick-thighed, bearded cowboy who keeps invading my dreams. Okay, so I remember a lot about Harrison. But our union was for nothing more than practicality as far as he’s concerned. Our union serves a practical purpose as far as he’s concerned, but for me, there's more to the story. Like the fact he saved me from an unwanted arranged marriage to an obnoxious crown prince. I just want to lead an ordinary life, and now I know I want that life to be with Harrison. But will he want me if learns the truth about my past?

Set up by mutual friend online to help get Birdie a green card. Now Harrison needs a favor, so he goes to his wife and presents her with his dilemma. They need to marry, and it needs to be real, or their land, farm and homes go to their rotten uncle. The moment that Birdie and Harrison reunite for only the second time the attraction is palpable and undeniable. I loved watching this couple laugh, live and finally love while being surrounded by Harrisons crazy family! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Kat Baxter is my go-to whenever I need to relax and enjoy cute/funny characters who get their sweet HEA.
Harrison married Birdie to help her stay in the USA. Eight months later, he needs her help as his wife complies with his grandfather's will clause stating that all his grandchildren need to be married with a signed prenup.
Birdie jumps at the chance to help Harrison and be close to him. The truth is that Birdie didn’t forget about Harrison and thinks and dreams of him ofter - like every night to be more precise. But Birdie has a little bitty secret! But no worries, that secret doesn't ruin or jeopardize their relationship - they are solid. Theirs is a sweet story of promise and a bright future.
Ms. Baxter is the queen of curvy heroines and buff heroes! I love that her characters are usually everyday normal people that fall in love and are happy being themselves. Especially in the physical aspect of their lives.
Harrison has been hiding a secret from his family but it's time to bring her home. Birdie is proud to be Harrison's wife even though they married unconventionally and has never met his family, but all that is changing. I loved this story and the second Crawford sibling's story. Such an amazing connection between these two. Their story had twists I never expected but I loved every word. Highly recommended!!!
Quinn Monroe Hayes Harrison Madison Johnny
mi única queja: dónde está el epílogo bonito años después de estos dos??? 🔪
I loved that Birdie had a non-traditional job being a female in video games and that Harrison wasn’t just a hunk of a man, he was a husky rancher and felt vulnerable about his size.
I was so looking forward to Harrison's story after reading the previous book. And it was worth it. I loved his and Birdie's story. They have undeniable chemistry and attraction for each other. I thought with Birdie's quirky, geeky personality she would be a bit shy, but nope. Harrison brings out her other side because they're hot together. I'm quickly invested in this series and I can't wait for the next book.
I absolutely love it!! Wonderful!! This was a nice quick, short read.

I liked the way the Crawford brothers and sister are so close to each other and will always be there for each other.. I also like that if anyone tried to hurt one of their brothers or sister that person would be sorry because the family always looks out for each other and keeps them safe.. There is one thing i did not like and that was the Harrison twin brother acted when he met Harrison's wife..

I really enjoy this book and the romance between Harrison and Birdie.. I am glad that everything worked out and they got a happy ending..
I love this series … thankfully I have my own thick man and I really appreciate seeing heroes that reflect more realistic standards!
** If you have not read any of the stories, the following may contain spoilers. **
Second story featuring the Crawford siblings that find out about a caveat in the family patriarch’s will that could cause them to lose their birthright if not fulfilled. This caveat requires each of the siblings to be married. Yikes!
I do NOT consider it to be a STAND-ALONE read, because of the multiple reoccurring characters and the overarching theme. Each of these are very fast paced novelettes, but with a surprising amount of details packed into it. The sad news is I am already a third through the series … Maybe there will be a way to organically expand it with some periodic updates with births of children, or around the holidays.
Just like the first one, there are some good main character descriptions, but I wanted and needed more from those supporting (FYI … I never get enough). This story finally mentioned something about their parents, and fortunately, it did not leave a lot of questions relating to Harrison’s background like the previous one did with Monroe.
I mentioned the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There are a lot of grammatical issues. These included incorrect punctuation, incorrect word tenses, incorrect word choices, missing words, and extra inserted words. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.
Based upon the shorter length of the story, the frustration of becoming disengaged every time one occurred and the sheer number contained therein, I lowered the rating. Otherwise, this had the potential for 5 stars from me.

Harrison marries Birdie to help her secure a green card so she won’t get deported. Her family is from a small island nation near Finland, her parents want her to marry the country’s crown prince, Birdie just wants to design and play video games. The CEO of the company she co-owns suggests getting married to an American, and he knows just the guy. Harrison is a rancher and one of six siblings, they all just found out they need to marry or lose the ranch to their terrible uncle. Harrison only spent a couple of hours with Birdie but she left a lasting impression on him, he decides he needs to see if she is willing to return the favor and act like a married couple to fulfill his grandfather’s inheritance clause. Birdie has feelings for Harrison but doesn’t think they will ever be together, it doesn’t stop her from having a picture of them on their wedding day in her office and telling her coworkers about him. It’s funny when he shows up to the office, everyone is shocked to see him, they all thought Birdie had made him up. She readily agrees to her living and sleeping in the same bed as him. Harrison fights his feeling for a bit but their attraction wins and soon they are hot and heavy and consummate their marriage. The uncle tries to invalidate their marriage by bringing some official guy from the palace to state that she is betrothed to the prince, Harrison tells him it doesn’t matter because she’s married to him. She explains and the two confess their love and send the guy packing. They have a wedding for the family, even her parents attend. Harrison sings and plays the guitar, before their vows he sings her a beautiful song telling her how much he loves her. Epilogue with them married and fulfilling one of Birdie’s fantasies, her sitting on his face and coming. The other siblings have books and I’m looking forward to their stories. I liked that both characters were plus sized, she very curvy and he’s like a big bear. Birdie loves that about him, his big husky body really turns her on. He has a fraternal twin, they have been known his whole life as “the fat” one and “the hot” one. The hot one is a real jerk and a player.

“I’m so in love with this man, I should be president of his fan club, not his temporary wife.” ♥️ Review: Lone Star Husband by Kat Baxter. Saddle Creek, TX: The Crawfords Book 2. ♥️ The Crawford siblings are in predicament, if they don’t get married and has a prenup sign up in time manner, their land and farm goes to their rotten evil uncle. So one by one, they are looking for their perfect spouse and Harrison has a surprise in store for his siblings and maybe to himself.
In order to help Birdie get the green card and stay in the US, he secretly married her a favor for a friend of his. But now he’s the one who needs a favor and after months without seeing each other, he’s at her door to lay out the terms. Expect when they lay their eyes on each other, sparks, chemistry and everything explosive settle between them.
I really love their connection, how Birdie always dreamed about him and how would be being really married to that handsome growly man. She even has fantasies about him and when he hears that, all pretense is over. He is so possessive and protective of her, I loved it. And together they are sweet and yet so steamy.
It’s good that Birdie secret didn’t mess them when revealed, I love a good power couple. I mean, there was no way for him to let her go, he’s a totally simp for her. I’m having lots of fun with these siblings, can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Harrison and Birdie's story is the second book of the series.
Wow.... This story is not only keeping you on your toes but will cause you need to step into a deep freeze just to take the edge off.
After the news of their grandfather and what is in the will, the Crawford family is determined to find a wife and not to lose the ranch. What the others don't know is that Harrison has been married for eight months, now he needs to go talk to his wife.
Birdie just wanted to live her life, work on games, and marry who she wanted, but when her parents threaten to have her taken back to her country to marry someone they wanted, her boss helped solve the problem.... She married Harrison.
There is a hot and intense connection between Harrison and Birdie, from the first meeting, even if it was only about two hours. They were always on each other's mind, but nothing was said. When Harrison showed up at Birdie's work and explained what was happening, she could not deny him.
Just going to say. hot, hot, hot. Can't wait to for the next book.

This is book number 2 of the Saddle Creek, TX: The Crawfords series and focuses on Harrison and Birdie. Harrison is one of 6 Crawford siblings who has to get married ASAP to save their family ranch thanks to his grandfather. Thankfully, Harrison has been married to Birdie for 8 months already, but in name only. Birdie’s parents had been trying to get her deported back to her home country for an arranged marriage and Harrison stepped up and married her. Once Harrison finds out about his family’s situation, he decides to go to Birdie and has her move to Saddle Creek to be his wife for real. They both had an instant connection when they got married and followed each other's lives while they were apart. As soon as they reconnected, there was no stopping their connection and their marriage went from in name only to real almost right away. This was an excellent story and an excellent addition to the series! I can’t wait for the rest of the series!

The second book in Kat Baxter's Saddle Creek, TX: The Crawfords, is a fast-paced, sweet and steamy marriage-of-convenience romance. Harrison, one of the six Crawford siblings who must be married with a pre-nuptial agreement in place in order to hang onto their ranch when their dastardly grandfather dies, has a secret: he's already married. To help out a friend, he married the beautiful Birdie - the daughter of Saldanian diplomats - eight months ago to get her a green card and escape an arranged marriage. Now he needs her to come to Saddle Creek. Video game designer Birdie has had the hots for her husband ever since he stepped up to help her out - so when he comes for her now needing HER help, she is more than happy to assist, especially if it means getting the opportunity to make their marriage real. A swoon-worthy cowboy and a beautiful, sassy, nerdy heroine make this steamy fake marriage romance a must-read.

Harrison and his siblings own and run their family's ranch. When they are informed that all of the siblings must marry before their grandfather dies in order to keep the ranch, he decides its time to tell his siblings about his wife. Birdie is a friend of a friend that needed a husband to help her get her visa and to prevent her from being forced into an arranged marriage. When Harrison's friend asks him to step in as the groom, he agrees. Birdie and Harrison marry in the courthouse and Harrison returns home to the ranch. Now that he needs a wife, he must see if Birdie is willing to be a wife in more than name only.
This is a twist on a favorite trope of fake marriage. As usual Kat has great characters, engaging storyline, witty dialog, unexpected twists, and plenty of steam. I love Harrison's commitment to a marriage that he assumes is in name only. Birdie is fun, quirky and just what Harrison needs.

LONE STAR HUSBAND by Kat Baxter is a shorter story book that I like to read as a break between reading longer books. This is about a Husky man/Curvy Girl & a Fake Marriage. (Saddle Creek, Texas and the Crawfords) This is Harrison's turn at getting married, but it is to help a woman out. She is from Saldania and her own parents want her to return home from Texas and honor an arranged marriage they had agreed to without her blessing. Harrison married Birdie within only seventeen minutes of meeting her. They felt an attraction, but he returned to his Texas home, and hadn't seen her in months. It seems their contagious grandfather has made a stipulation in his will, that all six Crawford siblings must be married before he dies to inherit the Saddle Creek Ranch. He had not told any of his siblings that he was already married except one, and he was sworn to secrecy. He went to see his bride and ask her to return the favor, but instead of a fake marriage, they'd now have a real one. After reading this book, you'll know they consummated their marriage for sure!
Harrison is fourth of six siblings and is a twin. The family just found out that their grandfather’s Will requires them to all be married or they will lose the farm and land to their not-likable uncle. But Harrison has a problem. He had helped a stranger named Birdie out 8 months previously by marrying her so she could get a green card. So either he has to get her to agree to step up as his wife, or he will need to divorce her so he can find another woman willing to marry him. He’s not even sure how she might feel about him.
For Birdie, what Harrison did absolutely saved her. She was supposed to be part of an undesirable arranged marriage to an obnoxious crown prince. She only wants to live a simple, normal life. She would be more than happy to spend her life with Harrison, but she is afraid his finding the truth about her past situation might drive him away. What will they decide to do?
I was delighted when this book landed on my Kindle. These Crawfords and their race against time to find suitable spouses are just romance heaven.
Except this is Harrison's story, and as we know from Book 1, he already has a spouse. He just needs to find her and persuade her to stay with him. Harrison is the devoted rancher with a big heart. He agrees to marry Birdie to help her stay in the US and not have to face an arranged marriage back home. He wasnt counting on being consumed with thoughts of her once they went their separate ways. Upon finding out about their grandfather's will, Harrison is determined to try and win her round.
Birdie is the quiet and reclusive programmer. She is happy with her life, free from the pressure of her family and having to return home. However, she too, is hung up on the gorgeous man she married. And when he turns up at her work out of the blue, she is happy to return home with him to see where the marriage takes them.
This is a gorgeously sweet and steamy quick romance read. This series is really enjoyable and the characters and adorably crafted. This is a really fun read.
I absolutely adored this book! I couldn’t put it down. It is the second book in a series but can be read as a standalone. Harrison and Birdie have a marriage in name only. Circumstances come to light that Harrison and his siblings must marry. Harrison needs to find out if Birdie will be his wife at least to look as real as possible or divorce him so he can marry to meet the terms of his situation. Both only originally met for about 2 days total but they certainly left an impression on each other. Harrison doesn’t think that Birdie can ever come to care about him. Birdie already cares about Harrison, so she readily agrees to help him. This author, Kat Baxter, writes fabulous steamy books. I loved this book! Definitely a book I’ll reread!.

I love this series about the Crawford siblings, who are forced to marry to secure their ranch, yet all seem to find their perfect partner. That’s the case for Harrison and Birdie too. While this was initially a green card wedding and they haven’t seen each other for eight months, when Harrison needs Birdie to become his wife in more than name only, there’s no denying their mutual attraction and they soon realize their marriage may not be as fake as they first imagined. The sudden appearance of a reminder of Birdie’s past and the reason for her marriage to Harrison was a bit of a red herring and really didn’t lead anywhere, begging the question, what was the point? So, as Harrison and Birdie celebrated their second wedding with family and friends, all I could think was two down, four to go.
Doin a whole lot more than just kissing, that’s for sure!
Harrison and Birdie meet and marry in a very unique way. At first it was to help Birdie, but now Harrison has his grandfather’s will requirement to fulfill and It’s Birdie’s turn to help.
I adored Harrison and Birdie is just plain adorable (jelly donut anyone?). From the $exy way Harrison “marks” his woman to Birdie’s bright pink wedding dress, these two are too hot for your kindle!
I’m enjoying this series and I’m looking forward to reading about how each Crawford sibling fulfills their grandpa’s wishes AND manages to find love. Even Hayes, who seems like a 🤬 (oh I know Kat will make me fall in love with him too). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me!
Birdie has to be the luckiest woman in the world to get a man like Harrison. He comes to her rescue when she needs a husband to get out of a arranged marriage. At the time he didn’t ask for anything in return now he needs her help. To help save the family ranch Harrison needs his wife to be a real wife. Both Birdie and Harrison fell hard when they first met and married only neither one knows how the other feels. I really enjoyed following these two as they learn about each other and what it takes to make a fake marriage real. Kat Baxters writing has you right there with her characters. This series has been great and I’m looking forward to reading the next book so I can find out about Quinn.

Mmm mm mmm. I absolutely adored Harrison! Adore a man who is a gentleman to his woman. However, you get him alone in a bedroom and bets are off. He is a very dirty talking cowboy. While all the other brothers were worried about trying to figure out a way to meet the newest learned terms of their grandfather's will, Harrison already unknowingly has met them on his part. However, even though his marriage with Birdie starts out as a marriage of convenience to help Birdie, both of them feel the attraction and are determined to make their marriage work now.
If I had any complaints about this one, I really wish we could've gotten to see a scene with Birdie and her parents after they might've learned about her marriage to Harrison.
Buying me a one way ticket to Saddle Creek Texas! 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥 𝗛𝗨𝗦𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗗 is a quick and easy, marriage of convenience romance read. Harrison offers himself up as Tribute, when Birdie needs a husband to stay in the country and avoid her parents matchmaking scheme. Fast forward to Harrison then needing his “marriage” to be real for his own personal reasons. From here on out it’s a fine line between what’s real and what’s not and there is nothing fake about their combustible chemistry. I enjoyed this sweet and sexy cowboy romance and am giving it the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!
Ooooh lawdy!!! This is Kat Baxter’s hottest book yet!! The way Birdie and Harrison dirty talk to each other will make your toes curl!!! These two were lovable characters and I totally enjoyed their road to HEA!!
By the way, a hero who sings… oooooh yeah!! My kryptonite!!
Just when you think Kat Baxter’s books can’t get any hotter… she says “hold my beer” and fires up the the blow torch!!! She keeps one upping herself… and we looooooove it!! Another 5 stars for the Queen of Adorkable!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.
This was a fantastic fake marriage romance. I’m loving this series so far both stories have had heart, steam and humor. The relationship between Harrison and Birdie was just amazing, I loved the way he acted the first time they are together in the story, it just really showed the kind of man he was. They had such amazing chemistry and I loved that Harrison was such a dirty talking cowboy. The only little thing that bothered me was the placement of her fictional country something was definitely off with the European geography, but I probably noticed because I’m European.

Eight month's ago he did a friend a favor and married a stranger so she could get a green card. Now his "wife" is going to come in handy to help to save the ranch and the stupid marriage clause put in by his grandfather. He never expected to have the hots for her.
Birdie does not remember much about her husband except the big bearded cowboy keeps invading her dreams. He saved her from an unwanted marriage and left with the ability to life her life like she wants.
Can these two have a possibility of having a real marriage?
I received an Advance Readers Copy of this book with no obligation to write a review.
I really liked this story of a marriage of convenience turned real. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable. Birdie had needed Harrison so that she didn't have to go back home. Harrison needed Birdie because of his grandfather's will. Harrison and Birdie had great chemistry. Birdie and Harrison were super sweet and cute together. There was a bit of steam too. I liked the way the story ended but I do wish there was an epilogue further out. I recommend reading this book.

Lone Star Husband is the second book in the Saddle Creek, TX: The Crawfords and it is a sweet and romantic fake marriage romance that turns into the real thing. It all starts when Birdie needs to get married to keep her Green Card. But now Harrison actually needs a wife....so isn't it lucky that he is already married. Now these two are going to have to figure some things out, not the least of which is their growing feelings and sizzling attraction sparking between them. I quite enjoyed this story which is a wonderful romance morsel filled with everything you want to satisfy your romance appetite when you don't want a long book.
