Valuable resource!

This book is excellent as a basic primer on solo travel (mainly for women but nearly everything is totally applicable for guys too). Most of this stuff no one ever really comes out and says but it manages to be quite frank here. A lot of it reads like a mindfulness book even though this work predates much of that blossoming trend of today. Despite its age it has held up very well (video stores and travel agents are reoccurring but not critical to the overall message and there was only one cultural reference to a movie “lost to time” that I looked up on the internet and later found a way to rent for the fun of it).

I stumbled upon this book at a secondhand bookstore while going through the travel section. What a blessing this was. In a crazy pandemic, I still have my dreams of travel, but I am stuck home, overthinking and doubting my abilities to ever achieve these goals, and this book helped so much.
While this book is a bit dated with the information, it’s also part of the charm. The author knows what she’s talking about and she wants everyone to experience the world to the fullest, whether it’s at home or in a different country. I enjoyed reading this book a lot!
