I thought the book was okay. I feel that it was a little to young for me in the sense that there were pictures throughout the whole book.

Jep jep, olen tosikko.

***
- Kas karvane mammut suudab hüpata mäest kõrgemale?
- Jah, sest mäed ei oska hüpata!

The first in a series.

This felt a little confusing in terms of what age group it is aimed at. It seems to contain elements associated with new readers but also the type of gross-out humour associated with young readers. I feel the mix didn't quite work and it would possibly fail to amuse both groups.

The humour itself had more misses than hits for me. The characters also were less defined than I feel they could have been. Despite this I am interested to know where the series went in the sequels.

This darling book about two woolly mammoths and their first days at school warmed my little heart. Though more about Oscar than Arabella, this story only has room for two heroes and Arabella is too clean, responsible, and caught up in making new friends to realize that dangerous HUMANS!!! are lurking around the academy. With the help of sticky Fox, Oscar manages to outwit, outsmart, and outlast the grunting buffoons. Yeah for mammoths and the sloth, who also makes an appearance.

This thing can't decide what it wants to do. You have the fantasy aspect of woolly mammoths attending primary school, the adventure of animal vs. man, the science of inventing the skateboard, and the mystery of the Orange Stealer. That said, the stinky fox ended up being the only story line providing consistency, plot structure, logical chronology, and a refreshing sense of closure. This book sucked.

Straightforward stepping-stone about starting school and making friends - except the students are mammoths and rabbits and giant sloths and such. The tone is dry and funny, very British, and the plentiful drawings feature very blobby, hairy animals with school caps perched on their shapeless heads.

My son, if he sees this listing will insist that I change this to 5 stars, but I found the story a little too reliant on gross-out humor. That said, T has never been so willing to sit still for a book that doesn't completely rely on pictures to tell the story. We will seek out the sequel.

Hiukan Kapteeni Kalsarimaista menoa suoraan kivikaudelta.

Kolmostenkin. Ihmiset, nuo mammuttikunnan pahimmat viholliset, saavat tuta haisevan ketun koston...

Kuvitus ensiluokkaista!

Hauska kirjanen. Sopii hyvin vinkkausreppuun, kun siellä puhutaan jo hirviöiden koulun käynnistä jne. Sopivan vähän tekstiä yhdellä sivulla, menee siis vähemmän lukevallekin.

Kiitos vinkistä anti!

My son has given this book 4 stars and has chosen the next in the series for us to read next. It was a nice, fun story, my only criticism is how utterly lame the supposed jokes were on pages 45 & 46. Not even amusing for a child!

Charmingly hyper third-grade book with Quentin Blake-esque drawings galore. Give this to Roald Dahl and Cressida Cowell fans: there are plenty of cavemen, bogs, body odor, and friendly mammoths.

After a long time, my 6 wants me to read this book again as bedtime story.

This funny and interesting book give him a lot laughs, even the jokes at 44-45 has amused him.
