I highly recommend this book tosomeone who wants to start learning Korean languagesomeone who is not familiar with Korean culturesomeone who wants to learn Korean alongside its culture I also recommend this book tosomeone who knows Korean well but hasn't lived in Korea yetsomeone who has difficulties blending into the Korean communitysomeone who is afraid of making cultural mistakes while speaking Korean I don't recommend this book toa native Korean speakera foreigner who has lived in Korea for more than ten years This book is designed for everyone (Korean skills or cultural background are not necessary in order to use this book)
I recommend everyone wanting to read this book to first learn hangul. This will improve the experience you will have with this book.
With the book, you can learn lots of words, which you would not learn in a normal textbook, because these words are only used in casual settings like texting or talking to friends. You also learn some swear words. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the korean language and culture.
I gave it 4 stars, because there was no continuos story. But its okay. When your interests in the korean language is high, then you will have no problems to continue with the book.
What’s great about this book: it’s concise with anecdotes and some histories as well as the best, how to pronounce, what other similar words to the word we are learning, and also sentence example for each.
I think this book gives great context which not a lot of books out there, even for other languages will do.
What’s not so great: it’s short and for those who focus on improving a lot, this book is not suitable as it is not a textbook.
To whom this book is good: Those who want to know the cultural side of Korean language from a native.
Learning some famous korean words (Not lots of words just few and we hear them alot in many korean dramas) and how to use it according to korean culture.
