Unaware of the time bomb ticking inside her, Mia had lived the perfect life until it all came to a screeching halt, but despite the difficulties she faces, she doggedly pursues her dreams.
Once known as the god of knowledge and wisdom, Toven has grown cold and indifferent. Disillusioned with humanity, he travels the world and pens novels about the love he can no longer feel.
Seeking to escape his ever-present ennui, Toven gives a cutting-edge virtual experience a try. When his avatar meets Mia’s, their sizzling virtual romance unexpectedly turns into something deeper and more meaningful.
Dark God's Avatar is book 59 in the Children of the Gods series and is the first of the Dark God's trilogy. It is the story of Tovin and Mia.
First I am going to say I normally don't mind the secondary plot lines and secondary romances--not in this book. I have been waiting for Tovin's story for a long time--after reading Goddess's Choice wishing he would have been away when his brother dropped the bomb. At the end of Dark Memories when find out he is alive, I was like YES! However, the first half of this book is almost all secondary… and I wanted to scream. Once we got to see the couple Ms. Lucas didn't disappoint, everyone has a favorite male in this series--well Tovin is a GOD.
Since I can't give half stars, I will give this 4.5 stars in the review and 5 for the algorithm. I was that disappointed in the first half, but the second half was off the charts.
It’s hard for me to leave a review without revealing some things that would spoilers if you haven’t read the book yet. But let me say that after 59 books, I’m still absolutely addicted to this series, but I am REALLY looking forward to book 60. I love the concept of the different challenges that Mia brings as Toven’s potential mate. I can’t wait to see where that goes and if/how they can make it work. I also can’t wait to see what happens with Aliyah, Darlene, Ronja. And I’ve been hoping for a match for William for so long, so I would love to see his mate like I’m hoping was being hinted at. And it’s great to see Parker and Lisa’s bind growing stronger all the time. It’s great how much we see Annani and really the whole clan all together in these recent books. I’m blown away that after 60 books I still eagerly await the next installment every month. Keep ‘‘em coming IT Lucas!
I did not want Tobias’ story to end. It was so captivating, edge of your seat, down right delicious. A god, brought to his knees, by a simple human. Lots and lots of good news in the Village. No spoilers but I’m excited for all the possible stories to come. And the virtual reality experience was such an imaginative trip to fantasy land, i loved it.
Dark God’s Avatar KU 313 pgs ***.* 3/21/22 Tovan & Mia
3.5 stars. These books are starting to have way too many stories going on in one book. This one included the beginning of Tovan and Mia’s story: they met via the fantasy program developed by the clan and that was their entire story for this book. Mia has a heart condition and all were worried the fantasy trip may be too much for her heart but she wanted to do it. Tovan gained a little of his lively hood back after the experience. He has been depressed and bored for centuries, pushing anyone away that could have been in his life, as his son. He thinks he is the only God that survived the killing of the God’s by his brother. Darlene makes a decision about staying and attempting transition or going back to her human life with her deadbeat husband while her family tries to introduce her to different males every day and she is aggravated by that since she is still married to Leo. Ronja and Merlin continued their relationship, not much on that storyline except Ronja getting a little depressed that she hasn’t started transition yet and wondering if maybe she is too old to even start it. Alena & Orion share their news to everyone, Amanda is miserable being 8 months pregnant, Annani is excited for Alena and Orion. Aliya attempts to find her way in her new home and can’t decide between Vrog and Phinas as a possible suiter. Vrog becomes frustrated by this. This book was okay and at times exciting but so many plot lines makes it a little frustrating to read. I did enjoy the book and will continue the series.
I think I actually read this book faster than any of the others. I was drawn in right from the start. I absolutely loved it!! Below, I put several of my favorite quotes and moments from the book. I only did a few, I think I even had the most quotes I’ve written down in my reading journal. Yes, yes, yes, I keep a reading journal from quotes, favorite moments, impressions, WOW!! Just WOW 🤩 moments, or speechless moments and why and so on. I adore Toven and Mia, I can’t wait for them to one day meet the clan. I’m a thinkin that’ll go a long way in helping himself to heal from his guilty conscience. Mia will heal the rest of his soul while he’s engaged in trying to help her. Plus, he needs to meet the clan so he knows - YES give her your blood!! Ronja!! So excited for her. She’ll pull through the Fates and Clan Mother will make sure. RIGHT!?!?
The pen might be mightier than the sword, but the sword was still necessary to implement and enforce the pen's creations.
"When you are the creator of your own story, it lives in your subconscious even if you don't remember it consciously. You will expect things to happen a certain way, and nothing will surprise or challenge you. Talk about déjà vu. Every moment will feel like you lived it before."
The other good news is that the program found a ninety-three percent match for you, which is truly unprecedented. Anything over seventy percent is considered a perfect match. I'm almost afraid that the match is too good. It's like she was created for you." Enjoy my fellow readers!!
I'm not liking the soap opera-esque, multiple-storyline layout of this series right now. Especially in this instance when the characters and storylines were completely unrelated (ex. Darlene, Mia and Toven, and Aliya have nothing to do with each other).
This one was also a rather slow read. I don't know if having to read the story within the story of Mia and Toven's VR experience was necessary. I could have done without that.
Unless I missed something, were weren't given all of the info about Mia and her health/disabilities. The doctor (Brenna) kept mentioning using data from Mia's experiences, but I seem to have missed any direct mention if anything other than her heart condition.
These books continue to take one step forward and two steps back. I'm sure there's still some good stuff to get to... I can only hope it doesn't take forever to get there.
The book count for this series may seem daunting since this is the 59th book, thankfully the way IT Lucas organizes the series is by having the books are set in 3-4 books in a mini-series that revolves around a main couple. There are often side characters & couples that you will see develop along side the main couple. The series does have an overarching storyline that continues through all the books so it is best to read them in order. These books are also told from the POV of multiple individuals, even many of the side characters or members of previous highlighted coupled. Each chapter clearly identifies who is telling their story so it is easy to follow.
This is the first book for Toven & Mia and oh goodness is this an ending. This book left me completely wanting more. This was another great book and I can’t wait to see where the story goes!
This is the start of one of the most important love stories of the series. So many threads need to connect, but I. T. Lucas never fails to make the wait worth our while.
The adventure inside Perfect Match was very intriguing and left me with new theories about the series!
We were eased into the new characters by interspersing the new story with the more recent side stories in the beginning that haven’t wrapped up yet, which I appreciated. New characters sometimes give me anxiety.
There’s still so much more to come and I can’t wait!
This book was fantastic, I gave 5/5 for the algorithm but I would give 4.5/5 because this story is clearly setting up for some big revelations in the future, which are usually mind blowing.
I want to start by saying that as someone with a physical disability, I could not be happier that we have Mia!! I didn't catch on right away that she was an amputee until the very end. I'm was so pleasantly surprised that I'm literally in tears as I write this review. I've never personally read a book where the female main character uses a wheelchair, or has a physical disability. All I can say is Thank you I T Lucas for giving me this beautiful experience!!!!
With all that said, I absolutely adore Toven and I'm really enjoying the Perfect Match adventures so far. They've all been so unique and surprisingly immersive. I'm so excited to read the next installment!
I have been reading this series from book 1. Toven , father of Orion , has had many moral loves that went through his immoral life like flour through a sieve. The discovery of his immortal son gives him a taste of family but he is scared of discovery and abandons him. Mia enters his life at a stage when he is disappointed with humanity. She has her own journey of disappointment but is determined to make the best of her life. Will she be the spark that ignites a new journey for both of them or is this a road to nowhere. IT Lucas takes us on another journey of these immoral loves.
I have read Books #58 and #59 as slow as I can - I didn't want them to finish them because I knew they were the last two books to the end of the series and I didn't want to get to #60 too soon - this series is so good, the suspense, the drama, the romance, and a bit of science fiction - they are the best reads I have read and I don't want it too finish. IT Lucas you are the best and I wish you could continue with the series, every new line you put in just makes me want to read more. I am gonna be sorry to see it end. Just love it, I think I will read it again that's how good this series is - I would like to see you keep it going, there is still so much more to read to see the out come of my favorite immortals inter actions - Keep them coming IT Lucas - absolutely love this series
Book 59 and Still every bit it's creative And realistic And compelling as book 1. Each book Gives us new characters fully fleshed out and berry Human While still keeping us in touch With well established and well loved characters. If book 60 proves to be the end of this series, I will personally howl with disappointment. As always 5 stars is nowhere near enough For this fantastic book and series
Ok so this one was a little different and not what I expected…I positively love it. Mia and Toven story is not over and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds. But I got to say I think his love for Mia made Toven alittle sloppy and exposed I think it’s how the clan will find him with Perfect Match …I’m excited for that story to be unfolded. Things are getting interesting that’s for sure.
Here we are, on book number 59 and I still can't wait to sink my teeth into the story. Each and every new book makes you feel like coming home to family you haven't seen for a while. Toven and Mia's story is one I can't wait to read. I can't wait to find out whi Brian is and how the rest of the immortals find and react to Toven. The End of April can't come soon enough!
This story was interesting due to the switch from one character to another, with two of the characters having their own switch with their avatar! I had to reread a few spots to get my mind's eye up to speed. Lol . This series will be missed...I am not looking forward to saying goodbye to Annani and her kin.
I wasn’t sure how I’d like Toven, after abandoning his son I wasn’t sure if he was redeemable. But I T Lucas has a way of changing my opinion of characters that were previously introduced in a bad light around so that we get their perspective and love them for it! I can’t wait to read the next instalment, I’m dying to know more about Mia as well.
After so many books I'm still hooked and reading about Toven has increased my interest again. I'm still awed by the fact IT Lucas can still make me impatient to wait a month each time for the next installment. I hope Toven will make it to the clan and make up with his son and daughter and be a good friend again to Annani.
This book was a bit weaker again. While I still enjoyd the different story lines, I was not realy into the main story line between Toven and Mia. The whole vitual reality storyline wasn't for me. I skipped over the chapters between Tobias and Azul. I hope that the next book will be better again.
Conclusion:
It was again a weaker story, bit I still enjoyed it for the most part.
Too much building, not enough doing. As usual, I love the characters and the plot is interesting. However, for some reason I was annoyed by the process of getting from point a to point b. Maybe it was the lack of ANY resolution to any part of the story. Too many cliff-hangers!
Wow fifty nine books in and I can still be shocked!! Wasn't expecting exactly what Toven found when he tracked down Mia. But I can't wait for him to start woeing her will she fight it or accept the inevitable🤔🤔🤗 hope Orion finds his father soon so Dr Bridget and the others can help Mia
This is so exciting! Meeting two brand new characters and following their story. Can't wait to read the rest. I have recommended this series to many readers and will continue to do so, I.T. Lucas is a creative genius!
So glad to see a disabled character. Was an interesting twist to the story especially since she's Toven's love interest. Poor Aliya needs some wisdom from one of the older women regarding her romantic choices. Also glad to see all the immortals having babies.
Totally liking the Toven storyline but I’m wishing to hear more about some of the other people. Really wishing Amanda to have her baby already. Along with Jacki. Lots of things on hold and it makes for trying to remember what was going on before.
Tovan intrigued me from the start. But the interactions with Mia was so wonderful I couldn’t put the book down. I’ve loved this whole series and can’t wait for the next installment.
Children of the Gods has me extremely anxious waiting for next book every time! So many twists and turns keep me coming back for more and as it goes on the more I want to read it immediately. Keep it coming please!
I found this book unlike the others. Toven and Mia's storybook meeting and the way he tracked her down. Her physical conditions and it's challenges Will make for very interesting reading in the next book!
I am awed that Lucas is able to weave all these characters into this series AND keep them straight. These new characters are very different and in a very good way. Can’t wait to get book 60.
Toven and Mia's fantasy meeting was the best!! Cannot await to see where this goes. Who would think flushing out a good could be so easy. Now we just have to wait for the clan and Kian to catch up.
I have loved every book so far but reading about Toven has enthralled me I cannot wait for the continuation of his and Mias story I love reading about my favorite characters and how the author blends them together to perfection
Dark God's Avatar is as good as all the other books in The Children of the Gods series! There's a few new twists and turns that I thoroughly enjoyed. I'm patiently awaiting the next release.
