Rate this book
A cruise should’ve been their honeymoon.

Rachelle Stewart has spent the last year working through her Breakup Bucket list, something her roommates helped her create to get over her ex-fiancé, Landon Higgins. The cruise she won is going to be the crowning achievement of her list, but she can’t seem to get rid of Landon when he shows up as a passenger.

Luck is on Landon’s side when he finds out he’ll get uninterrupted time with his ex-fiance. He ruined things a year ago and getting her back is a long shot. But seeing the changes in her gives him the sliver of hope that they might forgive and forget.

As the truth is revealed, will she trust him after all they’ve gone through apart? Or will they leave the ship and go their separate ways?

Britney Mills was born in Utah but parts of her heart lie in Boston, Washington D.C. and Germany. Her love of writing began with the third grade book her teacher assigned her to write and she spent hours hidden behind her mother’s couch writing pages and pages about knights and castles.
Most of her time consists of taking care of her young son and triplets but writing keeps her sane as she travels along on the adventures of characters to come.
When she’s not mothering, writing or reading, she’s probably out playing a sport, going on a hike, or binge watching some kind of murder mystery show. She is a fan of chick flicks and adventure/action stories in books and movies, and can even get her cowboy husband to watch along with her.

What's not to love about a break-up bucket list? The premise and hook are appealing. There's a few disaster moments that are amusing to say the least. I just wanted more.
Rachelle and Landon keep bumping into each other after a year apart. Landon's dismissal of their pending wedding and subsequent disappearance leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Unbeknownst to either, they depart on a cruise that reminds them of their previous plans for their honeymoon that never was.
If there had been a little bit more shown through Rachelle's list, it would have given it more of an impact on the story. Or had her cousin and friends been more manipulative, I think the title would have worked better. The title works if you look at it from a bigger scope of Britney's previous series that this is a spin off of but, as a standalone, there wasn't much to back it up in the book itself.
Ultimately, I think it had a lot of promise. It made me want to go on adventures including paintball, ziplining, and a cruise. The ending and epilogue were very sweet.
Thanks to the author for the gifted copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

This is my very favorite kind of book! I loved the way the author made her characters jump off the pages. And the cruise setting makes it a perfect beach read. Everything about this book made me happy!

Rachelle is the former bride. She’s come up with a bucket list to get over her ex. It includes things like paintballing and ziplining. She takes pictures of herself doing these things for her social media. I really liked that not everything was perfect in Rachelle’s life. Her fiance leaving was obviously one thing. But Rachelle has a hard time in her relationship with her mom. And that makes her really relatable.

Landon sounds like he’d be the bad guy in the book. But…things aren’t what they seem for him. I loved that he knew he messed up, almost from the moment he did it. And he wants to make things right.

These two end up on the same cruise. And the things that happen to them are so great! I laughed out loud while reading this one so many times.

This one is a great rom-com! You need to read it!

I was sent an copy of Matched with Her Runaway Groom as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.

Rachelle
- you know what I love about dual POV romcoms? Getting to see people from multiple perspectives. I love when the guy thinks the girl is the bee's knees and the girl feels awkward and uncomfortable, and the man is just enchanted. It's adorable.
- the paintball. Nice.
- I like Kelly Clarkson. I approve of this breakup playlist
- 😂😂😂 I laughed out loud when he talks to Roman
- the grocery store 😬🤣😳
- oh gosh. So many embarrassing things going on here
- I like Tiffany
- I kind of feel bad for Savannah
- the zip line. I like that Landon is growing. I like that Rachelle doesn't see it. However, the end of the scene- gross.
- what a sweet kiss
- I no longer feel bad for Savannah
- good ending, satisfying. 👌

Reader’s Notes:

-this is told from both Rachelle and Landon’s points of view

-this is a spinoff from the Love, Austen series but you do not need to read it to understand this story

-this is the first of a series, but can be read alone

Review:

Oh my goodness! 😂 While Rachelle and Landon’s relationship in the story did not start off on a good foot (I mean I get it, who would like to be told indirectly that they are no longer engaged? Oh, and then you see the person who broke it off a year or so later with another girl all up in his space 🤨), after quite a few chance encounters, they start to mend their relationship. Oh, and after quite a few embarrassing moments too 😂. Poor Rachelle…but luckily Landon takes it in stride and is so sweet and patient with her because he knows what he did (and his sister won’t let him forget it 😂).

At one point, Rachelle and Landon were set to get married…until Landon broke it off with no explanation. So Rachelle’s friends help her to set up a list of things to do to get over the breakup that will also push her to do things she wouldn’t have chosen to do on her own. The story starts with Rachelle and her friend doing one of the items on the list and happening to see Landon at the same activity. Needless to say, she is not happy to see him, but Landon is hopeful that he might have a chance to win her back.

When they both end up on the same cruise, Landon is ecstatic. There will be so many chances for him to make amends and win back the girl he never should have let go of. He just needs to show her. And he luckily gets a lot of chances to do so.

But what will happen when the truth gets out as to why Landon broke it off in the first place?

🚢 dual POV
🚢 setting: cruise ship
🚢 second chance romance

I found myself really confused with a lot of the characters. We’re introduced to a ton of individuals. Lots of names. And I was struggling to keep up with who was who and where they all came from.

I honestly just couldn’t handle MC Landon. I wanted to like him and forgive and forget and all that jazz. And I can’t. I don’t want to spoil anything- but I cannot get past what he did. Furthermore- putting up with legit sexual harassment from a coworker further showed how he was just unable to speak up like a grown adult should. (This was never addressed as sexual harassment. But it 100% was.)

Also with Hillary (MC Rachelle’s sister). I have no good things to say about her choices and reasonings. I was honestly furious with her and was shocked at the grace she received. No no no no. You don’t get to do all this crap. Then be like ooohhh it was crappy but still right because I wanted you to be happy.

No, ma’am. Go directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

And Landon with his issues too. Over and over. No sir. Go directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

But this is what Rachelle apparently sees as acceptable. 🙈🙈🙈

Lastly. I thought it was strange how involved the bosses were with everyone’s drama. If I were them- I’d be like ..... listen, I don’t want to know anything about this nonsense.

I don’t know, guys. I’m sad because I really liked the beginning but then it got so out of control and I couldn’t get on board.

Matched with her Runaway Groom

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the perfect “vacay vibes” book! I just made that new category on my GoodReads account in honor of this book. But you know the type, the book that is set in summer (or a warm summer-y type place) that mentions swimsuits, pools, beaches, palm trees, etc. well, this one delivered that! It takes place pretty much on a cruise ship. And with 1 more day until my spring break, I’m having definite FOMO!!!

This is a second-chance romance with lots of awkward moments and proximity issues (duh, they are on a cruise ship!!!). But I really enjoyed it.

I wish the MMC had as much character growth as the FMC, but it’s still a great book. I loved both Landon and Rachelle’s various POV.

Thank you Britney for the complementary copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own and a positive review was not required.

Grab your copy or Matched with her Runaway Groom before they all set sail! 😏✌🏼

From the first bucket list to the last page, this story was pure entertainment!

Rachelle and Landon dated forever, and even got engaged, before their relationship crashed and burned. Now, stuck on a cruise together, hearts just might change...

Ever the careful and over-planner, I thought the breakup was good for Rachelle to have a chance to find herself and grow a backbone. Although the reader doesn't see a lot of the growth, we are privy to some of her changes and it was heartening to watch her bravery and confidence shine through her insecurities.

I liked Landon and enjoyed watching him figure out what he wanted and how to get it.

A fun story that cruised its way into my heart.

Content: mild romance

Matched With Her Runaway Groom by Britney M. Mills was a cute quick read for me. It is the first book in her Romance by Love, Austen book. I look forward to reading the second book in the series. It was a really cute second-chance romance. This book follows Rachelle and Landon. They used to be engaged but out of the blue Landon breaks it off with no explanation. Almost a year after the breakup Rachelle wins a cruise trip on the same ship the company Landon works for is on. There were some cute encounters along with some humiliating ones. This was such a cute story with a HEA ending with I am a sucker for.

I so wanted to love this, but I struggled with it. I’ve never read any of the other books by the author, and even though this book is the start of a spin-off series and not a continuation, so many characters were introduced right away with NO backstory, I felt like I was missing something. The majority of the book is dialogue which kind of makes the story hard to follow. And while I love a good HEA, the MCs were far too co-dependent for my liking. This was a fairly easy read, and I I did love the solidarity the female characters showed one another as they stood by Rachelle to help her get over the break-up, but like I said, I felt like I was missing a lot of the backstory.

I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

I thought this was a cute story. I loved how we finally get some answers about what happened between Rachelle and Landon. I like that we get to see them heal from their breakup and to come back together. I also liked how we got to see Rachelle grow into a more confident person through the things she went through.

Contains: kisses and hints at disorderly eating

I liked this book. There were a lot of characters that got screen time in such a way that it made me assume they’re from different books (Tiffany and Isabella and setup for the roommates and Dani). Other than that Landon’s self doubt or reasoning behind breaking up were a bit aggravating. I don’t care for the idea of “deserving” another or feeling that you don’t deserve someone.

This was fun to read. The characters are flawed, and it's not easy for them to reconnect. The story takes place on a cruise, and I was amazed at how easily they ran into each other so frequently on and off the boat. Fate, I guess... It was a sweet story with sweet romance and a great friend/sibling/cousin support system.

"Matched with Her Runaway Groom" by Britney M. Mills is the first book of the Romance by Love, Austen series, a spinoff of the Love, Austen series. Characters from the earlier books (primarily book #6) make appearances here, though it works relatively well as a standalone. (I haven't yet read the earlier books and was definitely missing some context related to main character Rachelle's sister's "almost wedding" six months earlier, as well as her cousin Tiffany's recent wedding, but it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the story.)

It's been nearly a year since Rachelle Stewart's ex-fiance, Landon Higgins, broke up with her only a month before their wedding. Since then, Rachelle has been checking off items on a Breakup Bucket List to help her forget about him and move on. The cruise she recently won from a matchmaking company called Love, Austen will be the perfect way to finish it off, but she has to get through paintball with her housemate Kenzie first. Rachelle is shocked to run into Landon at the paintball facility, and she keeps running into him over the next few days - first at the grocery store, then when she and her cousin Tiffany board the cruise. Seeing Landon again brings back all of Rachelle's old feelings, and suddenly it seems as if all of the progress she's made in getting over their breakup has been undone. Landon, meanwhile, realizes that he made a huge mistake in letting Rachelle go and becomes determined to win her back. He just needs to come up with a plan to convince her that he's changed for the better and won't break her heart again.

This was a cute story and I liked Landon and Rachelle together, but I wish there had been just a bit more character development, especially with respect to Landon. I really wanted to know more about his past job with his grandfather's company and the fact that he didn't like working there, mainly because it seemed like it was a major contributor to his lack of self-confidence and decision to break up with Rachelle. Whatever his reasons, I appreciated that Landon sincerely apologized to Rachelle for his behavior and didn't try to make excuses for what he had done, but simply admitted that he had been wrong and was sorry.

There were some genuinely funny parts to this story, but I think my favorite was the paintball scene when Rachelle sees Landon again for the first time. I loved how calm she was when she shot him! She was so uninterested in paintball before that, so for her to suddenly turn into the Terminator was hilarious. I also enjoyed Rachelle's housemates, especially Kenzie, as well as Landon's sister Dani. I hope that all of them will get stories of their own in the future.

In sum, I very much enjoyed "Matched with Her Runaway Groom" and would recommend it for all sweet contemporary and romantic comedy fans. I plan to continue with the series.

Super cute second chance at love book. I felt for Rachelle and the battle she was waging with her self about her broken engagement with Landon. No better way to relax than on a cruise!!! I'm glad things were all worked out in the end. And that a super adorably thoughtful ending.

I ended up skimming most of this. There were too many coincidences to be believable: after not seeing each other for a year, they somehow end up at the same paintball venue, being on the same cruise, having rooms next door to each other on the cruise, and Rachelle randomly runs in to her sister while visiting one of the islands while on the cruise.

First off, incredible cover. I’m loving it so much. Besides that, the story is incredible as to be expected from this author. I love her writing so much. All of her books are so well written and this one was, obviously, not an exception to that rule. It was a fun rom-com, easy to imagine, easy to get addicted to and just like a great book overall. I’m very excited to read the next one.

first things first, can we just take a second to appreciate the concept the author managed to set up? I've read my fair share of second chance romances, but this one was so unique in comparison 💌

——————————

𝐌𝐲 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 : 🌟🌟🌟🌟
𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 :
🐚 dual pov
🐚 forced proximity
🐚 cruise ship setting
🐚 second chance romance
𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬 : clean & super young adult friendly; spin off to the 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬.

——————————

Rachelle & Landon, having been together for six years, were it for each other. until suddenly, they weren't — or atleast, Landon seemed to think so. 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 follows their cutesy second chance, set aboard a week long cruise!

like I mentioned above, the first thing that really stood out to me was the setting — there's something so cagey about a cruise ship, and it made perfect sense when you take into account how Rachelle & Landon left things off. I also really enjoyed all the lists, from the Breakup Bucket List to the one at the end😆

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 has a way with words, and I genuinely felt like I was living the scenarios with the characters every time I turned the page! About 220 pages long, this one was such a quick and fun read, and I would SO recommend this to anyone looking to get out of a reading slump🥰

as much as I enjoyed the book though, I have two major contentions with it —

» 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬. although the side characters provided for great entertainment, and honestly were so fun, we had no backstory to any of them, which definitely had me frustrated since we jumped right in. I haven't done my research on the 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, but I'm assuming that reading those books first would help out a bunch so you're not lost :)

» 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐬. Rachelle's development arc because of the break up? IMMACULATE. doesn't change the fact that the reason for the breakup didn't really get to me — a little more explanation and build up might've helped with that, since it was such a valid reason that deserves more exploration in romance🙌🏻. adding on to that, Rachelle's dysfunctional family dynamic was a nice touch, but I do feel like it was rushed, and the whole Hillary running off thing could've easily been avoided all together ://

overall though, I loved this book so much, and would definitely recommend it — the build up and angst is real, and the self - learning and exploration journey is so raw and relatable! can't wait for Dani's book; you'll catch me reading the 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 until it comes out🤪

——————————

I'd also like to pop in here and thank the author for providing me with an Advanced Reader's Copy to this gem in exchange of an honest review — much appreciated💗

You make me brave?

Rachelle grew up under her mom's controlling thumb. When her fiancé broke up with her a month before their wedding, she decided it was time to move out & rebuild her life.

She's grown a lot since then.

Then her ex, Landon, unexpectedly shows up. Several times. (The end of the paintball scene is one of my favorites, lol) And then they end up on the same cruise together. Fate - and their loved ones - are working hard to get them back together.

Rachelle's growth from people-pleasing doormat to someone who can stand up for herself & push past her fears is fun to watch. Though I also liked that she respected her own limits - a little challenge is good, turning yourself into a melting down basketcase is not.

Landon, ironically, has been focusing on succeeding in his worklife & trying not to think about his broken heart to the point that he hasn't grown much personally since their breakup. He's so used to being Rachelle's strength & support, he worries that even if she forgives him, she has no use for him anymore.

The premise is a good one - I do enjoy 2nd chance romances - & the story is well written. It engaged me pretty much from the beginning and kept me immersed with a comfortable pace.

It does have some weaknesses:
-Savannah is a sexual harassment suit begging to happen. I can understand not wanting to complain to your boss/her dad to a point, but it was rather over the top. It was surprising that Landon mentioned at least one incident involving her tricking him to Roman & nothing was said or done from there. We also hear nothing more about her after that incident

-I liked Roman & Isabella, but their parts felt too overly invested in Landon & Rachelle's relationship to believe

-The Hillary reckoning felt unbelievably deus ex machina convenient, as well as stiff & rushed

-I was disappointed that Rachelle accepted what had happened so easily. Forgiving? Excellent. Saying 'oh well, it was necessary & for the best'? No. I could buy why Landon thought it was necessary, I suppose, but I don't agree that it actually was.

So needless to say, I enjoyed the first half more than the final part of the second half. Nevertheless, I loved how Rachelle's growth pushes Landon to grow, too, & gives their renewed relationship a new dynamic. It's the best aspect of the story for me. The ending is pretty much pure fantasy but it's fun anyway.

*Romance level: sweet kisses, nothing graphic

A breakup bucket list? Best thing ever created in my mind! And it made for such a FUN story. Matched with Her Runaway Groom had me laughing, crying, cringing, gasping...seriously Britney M. Mills pulled all the stops with this one and I felt like I was right there with the characterse watching it unfold and feeling all the emotions.

With the help of some awesome roomates Rachelle is getting over a devestating breakup, marriage was in the works, and the solution? A breakup bucket list full of fears, desires and just plain fun. As she is nearing the end of this list something unexpected happens, Landon is back in town and seems to be every where she goes. In fact, he's even on the same cruise ship...and it is going to be great.

Rachell's journey to love again is a really important one for all of us. She learns some life changing things about herself, what a real relationship should have, and how to put one foot forward. The bucket list and her awesome friends are thankfully there along the way to cheer her on and help her see how she is a shining star, worthy of love and most importantly, worthy of herself. That knowledge is powerful and allows true love to blossom. It is a beautiful thing and I now love bucket lists even more and want to make one right now!

This story is flat out hilarious and you won't want to miss out on it. From Rachelle's first encounter with Landon again you know it is going to be a fantastic rom com and Mills does not dissappoint. Thank you to Britney Mills for writing a book for of inspiring characters who touch the hearts of readers and allow us to look at our own hearts and how we can be so much more. I can't wait to she what she writes next.

When getting over a long-term relationship, how would you cope?!  A good cathartic cry is necessary, but how about creating a list of crazy life experiences you want to try out or others think you should try – this is what played out for Rachelle!

Rachelle is nearly done crossing things off her Breakup Bucket List and when the book opens, she’s with her roommate, Kenzie, going to try her hand at paintball!  This was definitely not her idea of fun, but she tolerated it to the very end…until bumping into some unwanted company!  Rachelle tells herself it was a fluke, that she just needs to get to her cruise vacation to really let all her worries be set adrift…except that unwanted company from the other day happens to be onboard too!

Landon hasn’t seen Rachelle in nearly a year; after calling off their wedding and an unexpected moment at a paintball field his life is flipped upside down yet again!  Not knowing how to process the altered version of his ex fiancée, he knows that while he ended things, his heart is still very much with her!  With his new job and moving back to the city, he hasn’t had much time for anything, but with some nudging from his sister, Landon decides he will attempt to win her back…famous last words!

This book is full of twists, turns, daring heights, and crazy antics that are so fun to read!  It’s a great launching point to this series – as I have read some of the later books!  Oh goodness, this second chance romance was awesome!  I love seeing some of the side characters I had previous read about and makes me eager to read more!  Britney M. Mills has delivered, so I might be hanging out in Boston out for a bit!

Story Notes

This series spin-off of the Love, Austen series begins with a sweet story of second chance romance. I loved that Brittany paired it with forced proximity to give her characters a real chance to work things out. They faced their fears, found forgiveness, gained contentment with themselves and took a chance on opening their hearts again. The main characters were those you cared about and wanted to cheer for. The secondary characters added some fun conversations, snarky wit and helped Landon and Rachelle find their courage in the face of long-held fears. I really loved the ending too. Landon creating the perfect recreation of their special day was the sweetest thing ever. Definitely recommend you grab a copy of this delightful story!!

I received a complimentary ARC of this story from Brittany Mills. I am not required by anyone to write a positive review but am pleased to do so. I will receive no fiscal compensation for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.

This is contemporary romance novel is told from both characters’ POV. And I loved it! Seeing how Rachelle was thinking versus how Landon was thinking really helped me understand them. Landon broke Rachelle’s heart by breaking up with her a month before their wedding. She has these awesome friends who helped her come up with a Breakup Bucket list and it was epic! From paint balling to zip lining, Rachelle was going to become stronger and more independent. I loved her courage despite her real fears. I have to admit, the jury was out on Landon. How do you dump your fiancée a year ago and now you want another chance? He had a lot of making up to do in my book.
I loved the cruise setting and the fun moments throughout the story. Roman and Isabella were great supporting characters and I would love to know their story in more detail. This is a great romcom with laugh out loud moments you won’t want to miss! (The Zipline scene, you must read this book just for the Zipline scene!)

I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a feel-good read, though I will admit I could have knocked some sense into both main characters throughout the story! Overall, I laughed, smiled and very much enjoyed this second chance romance. I especially liked the ending where we got a little glimpse into their future. I’m looking forward to Dani’s story next!

Matched with Her Runaway Groom is the first book in the Romance by Love, Austen series.

Take a trip on a cruise! Meet up with an old flame.

Matched with Her Runaway Groom by Britney M. Mills is a great summer read in my mind. When I think cruise - I think sunshine, warmth, and water - a great Summer atmosphere. This a dual POV novel between the two main characters - Landon and Rachelle. The scenery is imaginative (since I've never been on a cruise and lived vicariously through them) and the characters have a battle before them. It's a battle over the past and a battle to build a better future.

One of my favorite book quotes, "It's been a rocky road to get here, but I needed every single roadblock and detour. Because it was all worth. it."

Bookish highlights ...
- lists
- being brave
- Landon's sister, Dani

Reviewed from an eArc. Thank you, Britney!

So bad I cannot even rate it! Wow. The title for one, really?! That's not even a major plot point. You would think she was MATCHED with him early in the plot, nah, nope, also, ha, sorry for saying there was a plot didn't mean to say that! Rude of me to LIE! She is matched with her runaway groom in chapter 33 of the book! There is 34 chapters lmao.

As for Landon our main lead; cmon I literally cannot even see his logic in the breakup no matter how you perform your mental gymnastics. Main lead girl whose name I have forgotten, Rachelle, was as fun as a slice of bread! She was less boring but,eh! Dani just got in the way like Tiff tbh.

Main gripe! Nothing bloody happened before. BAM book is over?! And Hilary was honestly the most normal human, even if eveyone did make her out to be a bitch! Landon though, by God, annoying.

Fun second chance romance for two high school sweethearts! After Landon dumps Rachelle a month before their wedding, chance is on his side to win her back a year later when they end up on a cruise together. Talk about forced proximity! Loved that it was dual POV and all the growth that Rachelle went through and how she recognizes she is stronger than she thought. Loved some of the side characters (though there were a lot I didn't know who they were) and there were definitely some laugh out loud hilariously awkward scenes. (the grocery store? The zipline?)

This was a quick, cute read and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a second chance romance!

I received a complimentary copy of this book but a positive review was not required.

So good! A cruise that should have been a honeymoon. A bucket list that strengthens Rachelle. Running into Landon on the cruise ship wasn’t on the bucket list but she’s stronger and more than capable of handling it. A sweet, clean story that keeps you turning the pages because you want them to figure out what happened and get back together.
