War is coming—no, it has already come. As the demon hordes amass before us, our alliances are thin and brittle, balanced upon the edge of a knife. My mates and I have no choice but to leave the safety of our reclaimed homeland to seek further aid.
The crown weighs heavily upon my first mate, who refuses to share his burdens. He carries the weight of the world, forgetting that it is I who carry the weight of an entire species—the last female Draken.
If he had his way I wouldn’t fight. His instincts scream at him to hide me, to protect me, but it’s too late. I’ve already tasted pain—tasted death. That is not something that can be wiped away. When he made me his queen, he had no idea the power he was about to unleash. Neither did I.
And if the other creatures of this land won’t fight to save humanity—they will be next.
*This is a full length reverse harem/poly fantasy novel. Warning: there are dark themes and possible triggers.*
I like the story and the progression of the plot. However, there were so many mistakes it was like the author forgot where characters were and mixed up their names and attributes. She kept switching two of the male characters around and would sometimes say all three were in one place, when it was really two. It was a mess and bothered me so much that I stopped reading it for a couple days. Really feels like a first draft without someone referencing the first book.
There are frequent places where the mate who was left *behind* for this mission is suddenly there saying something. Except, you know he’s on an island far, far away. This is super distracting because you have to figure out which mate (or other character) probably said the thing.
I feel like the author in an early draft had all the mates together and then missed reassigning dialogue to the ones she didn’t leave behind in later drafts. This is something a halfway decent editor should have caught.
Super disappointing. Got this copy free from her mailing list but won’t be paying $5 each on Amazon for the remaining books because I don’t want to have to try to rewrite things to make them make sense at that price point. If they end up on kindle unlimited at some point I may finish the series up.
Found this one to be even more boring than the first one even though there seemed to be a lot happening. This book immediately picked up where the last left off. I did absolutely love the witches in this one and Wren is ok. But the way Benedict acts just pisses me off to no end. She's the reason they are all still alive and starting to thrive. She's not perfect but she's not a complete idiot, even if i feel shes a little flat in this story than the last one. And yet the amount of times Benedict questions her loyalty to her own people is annoying. On top of that, things end up being confusing with no reason on why things go the way they do. I don't know. I'm just left bored and annoyed. I want to finish the series but at the same time, the last two books haven't been the best. Ugh
The writing is better or I have just gotten used to it. The character development hasn't really progressed much and there's a lot of oh so she can do that now okay cool, oh she can suddenly fight okay cool, plot armour. The author does seem to get confused and lose track of mates, sometimes a mate will join in the conversation when he's not even there which is wierd and needs fixing. The story and world though is interesting if you can get past the other stuff.
This series is really interesting. The first book was more focused in my opinion on the heated feelings between Wren and her mates.
This one.... there was one or two good smut scenes but the rest was more rushed. It seems the author was trying to shift gears and focus more on story. Which is fine- but it felt way to rushed.
There were also so many typos! Would really recommend the author get a new editor.
Awesome read, the dragons have their queen and the goal of making Alliances with the witches, the wolves, and the rebels is challenging while they are attacked by vampires, demons, and other evil forces. Look forward to reading the next book to find out what happens and if the witches are found. Will the queen be saved by her King, etc.
part 2 of my "I should have been studying for finals but here I am" reads.
When the first book ended, I knew I should have put the book away and started studying. However, it ended with a cliff-hanger and i'm just a girl so 2nd book here we go.
I liked the world expansion. The king still pisses me off. Like I get it, trauma and all but the tantrums gurl wth! I really liked Keiran and Ronan my favorite of her lovers.
I was speed reading at this point so I really glossed over grammar errors and all that. Still enjoyed it. Would I read it again? No way.
Such a shame. Great concepts and base of the story but so many issues and writer errors. Characters getting mixed up in their descriptions and used in the wrong context or when they were not involved in a scene. Simple oversights.
What happened in the last chapter was so confusing and poorly written. Like did Kieran kill Benedict or what because I swear he brought the sword down to his neck (that can only mean decapitation??!)
A whole lot of fuck all happens and it’s very hard to follow because there are major swatches of information missing.
At what point did she decide to sacrifice herself? In the middle of the fight? How did Kieran understand? Why is there confusion over the alliance with the sea witches? Why are the Lykoses friends/foes/friends/foes?
If the first book was chaotic, then this is senseless trash. I physically cringed multiple times and considered dropping it completely. Now, lets discuss what is wrong with it. The biggest problem to stand out is that there is no coherent following of the story. I understand that sometimes story takes turns on its own and authors just go with a flow. But at the editing point those kinks should have been smoothed out, logical points should have been made and characters should act in at least some vaguely logical way. As it is, it's all disjointed. Characters feel like puppets on a strings that gets janked in different directions and nothing to hold the story together. The story is supposed to be following Bennedict and "what's her name" female trying to obtain information and form alliances. What it is it's them stumbling around accidentally coming across other species, constantly yelling at each other and not having united front. Both characters don't act like someone with their history and experience, but like two dumb teenagers throwing tantrums. It's truly hard to stomach. There is supposedly love there, but ,apart from characters declaring it, I have yet to see any action that shows it. And nothing makes sense! New information is force fed to the reader, yet no character is questioning it or acting on it. Conversations that should have happened, never did. Even the whole draken culture and abilities and magic system is a jumbled mess. I'm sure it made sense in authors head, but absolutely nothing in this story shows or tells it to reader. To top it, the writing itself is barely tolerable. To be honest- books like this is what keeps me from finishing my own book as I am afraid to death I may end up with disaster like this. Maybe, if your reading requirements are really low and you don't mind constant confusion about everything, then you are the correct reader for this.Me? I have read truly amazing books and books with boring plot that was written masterfully and therefore still leaving good impressions. I probably have overinflated standards. But I also have loved books with cheap plot lines ,but that left so big an impression that it didn't matter. Unfortunately this is not it. A good editor and lots of work this could have been good series, but instead is just cheap and trashy.
Yeah, my opinion is really low. The only thing to keep me with these series is the whole idea of drake's and power structures. Not well developed or executed, but a bit different enough from mainstream to give it continuous chance. Enough to hope the next book is better.Fingers crossed.
Okay wow… Dangit xD I went from being unsure if I would continue this series to the last handful of chapters making it so I want and kind of need to read the next book asap! A good majority of this books feels kind of lack luster for me sadly, and I wanted it to be so good and feel even more intense than the first by diving more into this world's magicks and history of certain races. As well as leveling up the quality of the spice, by giving it some attention to detail and variety. Sadly other than the sweeter kissing moments the spice felt repetitive and did not add much to the story. If you liked the first book then I think you will also like this one, but just not as much. I really liked parts of it, but as a whole it wasn’t as amazing as the first(until the last few chapters that is.) I know that there are twists and turns to be uncovered in the next book, but I worry I have been able to predict them fairly well. The only time Storm has really blindsided me so far with the surprises is when they really didn't make much sense and were kinda just dropped into the moment. Also in the last five or six chapters I feel it could have used another round of editing/checking because there were moments when things simply did not add up. An example is when the name of a character whose on a separate island is all of a sudden right next to the FMC whose far away, even when I know it was a simple name mix up I find that to be difficult to look past and can take you out of the flow of the moment the author has created for us. I will continue the series, because come on…a good cliffhanger? You have me by the throat there! The last few chapters truly hooked me in and I am curious to see where it goes next! If the spice and overall quality improves I will gladly continue the series even past that. But if it is mainly lack luster with only a few good chapters I will probably not continue with the series sadly.
2.5/5 Witches ~ If it had more editing and less mix ups of attributes and names of main characters it would have been rated higher probably a solid 3.0 because the story itself is pretty solid! It was such a shame since so much more was going on in the second book compared to the first yet it felt slow/boring at times. I want this to be a good series dangit! Come on Storm don’t let me down in the third book! Please!!
The Lost Alliance By: Raven Storm ☽ Book two of the Rise of the Drakens series quickly lost my interest. There were more writing and spelling errors in this book, and it made it difficult to figure out what the author meant a lot of the times. I can’t believe that this has 5 books. This one again had lots of grammer error really frustrating when Wren is talking about or to one mate, but the name is of another mate. Made for a frustrating read at times, if it wasnt for the storyline and plot thickening, I would have stopped reading.
Alliances are starting to for and its awesome to see the witches and now humans, pirates to be exact get involved. Along comes Thad, right from the git you know something is off. The chemistry between the 3 mates and Wren, get stronger and she becomes stronger and braver in her own storyline. This has a little romance, lots of plotting, action and major mystery. I love how this world is starting to expand and new mysteries and story's are evolving. I love how you have the strong brute king in Bennedict, the calm lover in Keiran and the stratagist and planner in Ronan and they all fit pretty well with Wren. AGain, this is great in a fantasy novel but couldnt do 3 mates at once. Really enjoying the female pirate and the spirited Astrid, their storys I hope get expanded in the next book. Hopefully they can clean up the grammer errors and quit switching the names for the wrong characters...Keiran vs Ronan...that was frustrating.
You can bet your ass I will. Will I enjoy it? Idk, let's see 🤷🏻♀️

4⭐️- did I finish the first book and immediately buy the whole series? Yea. Was it worth it. I believe so.
After the discovery of the last draken female, the protections and curse on the males is lifted and they must flee the demons. Going back to their home on Lyoness, Wren gets injured on the journey. Being saved by a small witchling, she forms a tentative alliance with their coven. When she returns with the back to the draken homeland, they are met with hostility. When it is uncovered that they are able to rejuvenate the land, the agree to allow the witches to stay, and an alliance is formed.
Seeking more witches, Benedict, Kieran, and Wren leave with a few witches to seek out other covens. Gondi my them along the way, the group catches wind of some of the demons plans. Making their way to the human cities to find more fighters and to hopefully save as many innocents as possible.
So so good. Love where this is going. The cliff hanger wouldn’t be appreciated if I didn’t own the whole series already.
I’m not sure why I’m so turned off by this book. I loved the first one. But it felt too unrealistic. Yes I know it’s fantasy but the romance factor is just too unreal. Benedict legit thought she just killed his brother for fun and was horrible to her. But then as soon as he realized she was telling the truth everything is okay.
Now I’m not one for making someone grovel a lot but he needed to grovel a little bit. It’s weird that they just got married and everting was okay. Then she says she loves him but they’ve barely spent time together. In the beginning when he bonded with her he wouldn’t even touch or look at her. I’m just confused on how she had the time to start loving him.
Now I know sometimes the whole fated mates thing can cause strong feelings but she chose her mates. Well except Benedict cuz he just barged in saying “I’m first” so really she didn’t choose him. But I just don’t get it and it turned me off
In reading this story, I have a feeling this is a new author who needs a good editor to point out inconsistencies. Otherwise, this is a wonderful fantasy book. Not buying the romance though. I have a feeling that Wren has a lot of growing to do, and what she wants now may not be what she wants in the future. I mean, I don't understand why she would still want Benedict after he beat the crap out of her. But she is young, found a new thing, and is ready to take on the world.
In the last book, Wren and the Drakens were fleeing, and in this book they are searching for alliances, running into some interesting folks a long the way. I really love Luci, the half bred child and I am curious to know more about her. I hope we meet her again, because if not for her Wren would not have survived.
DNF - the story this book is striving for could be such a great one but unfortunately again, another rushed, no editor version that we suffer through reading and get annoyed when we hope it’ll get better. News flash, it doesn’t. Along with a few grammatical errors, the real kicker was when someone entered a conversation who wasn’t even in the scene and then referenced back to said person in the same conversation saying they felt bad for leaving him behind. I had so much hope this could have gone somewhere great but I just can’t get past the bad editing. Please fix and re-release and maybe it might gain the traction it should have had…
I enjoyed the plot of this one. It was slow about 20% into it. However, there were major mess ups with characters. Example: It stated all three male drakens were together when they really were not. I found myself saying several times "Wait hes not with them. Hes back on the island". These were distracting but at the end of the book you can tell the third is main girl missing. Every series I read theres always at least one book dedicated to finding the missing/kidnapped girl. *sigh* Will see what the third has to offer but already feeling hesitant. If it does not get better I might abandon the series. I want to love it but its getting rough.

Oh man, I was decently excited for this sequel, and it started out fine but the typos and inconsistencies were really rough. There were scenes, plot points, and progressions in the story that didn't make sense, sometimes not matching up with the previous book, but mostly contradicting points made in within this book itself. As the book went on, the characters and story got worse as well unfortunately, and ultimately became boring for me. I think the draken species itself is interesting and I can imagine what these creatures and people look like very well, but the story devolved and I won't continue.
Amazing. Fabulous. Fast. Interesting. Intriguing. I love the characters. I love the growth and the amazing way that words create this imaginative story. The Main Characters are so amazing and their growth in this one is palpable. The spice is decent and not as much as I would have expected a second book to be. The new characters are fantastic. I love how Storm has given characters their characteristics. The MC is benevolent and Storm has shown the readers fantastic descriptions of how Wren is benevolent. Its an enjoyable and fun and great read.
The author still has an editing problem. I don’t expect much from kindle unlimited books, but I do expect the author to have read it at least twice for editing purposes.
I read the first one and was interested enough to want to know what happened. I’ll probably read the third when it comes out but I’m not thrilled about it. I expected all the events to occur just as they did.
I do think this author actually built a pretty interesting world but the world is very light on details. I think it’s okay and what I expect for this kind of book.
I am just so unsure how I feel about this series. Plot wise, I am still interested in knowing what happens and where the story is going but like… I just don’t know. Something that drove me crazy this entire book is the plot holes! Characters were mentioned being in one place but 2 scenes later are somehow in another place and then 2 scenes after that they’re back where they originally were. It really felt like a plot change had been made and these moments were missed in editing and accidentally left in which had me so confused the entire time.
