After hearing crushing news about her husband, surrealist painter Emily has a strange encounter on the Night Tube with a mysterious man who offers to read her fortune. She already knows the fate of her marriage doesn't look good and doesn't need a stranger to tell her this.
Despite her reluctance, he predicts her future: three people in her life will betray her within the month. He harrowingly ends his prediction by warning her that he sees a gun being pointed at her head. Soon, the prediction about the betrayals comes true, leaving her suspicious and unable to trust the people closest to her.
When she learns that her husband's betrayal is connected to the mysterious man from the Tube – and a dead woman – she suspects the Tube encounter was not coincidental. But her husband is not the only sinner; there are two more. Three wrongdoings, resulting in three motives to hold a gun to Emily's head.
Whilst battling paranoia and questioning her beliefs, she sets out to discover the gunman's identity before the prediction can come true. But the more she finds out about the wrongdoings committed by others, the more she realises it could well be her own that will determine her fate.
This was not the book for me. The writing was good but I found the whole subject matter unbelievable. A girl meets a guy on a train who predicts her fortune. Then she starts to believe his predictions. Nothing really happens till a little more then half way through the book. Just her crazy anxiety over nothing at that point. Then when the book did pick up it read as a day time soap. Complete with faked deaths, ghosts, murder, and secret marriages. I would have stopped reading a few chapter in if I hadn't agreed to read it and give a review.

When Emily suffers a concussion, is that the cause of the strange things that happen to her--starting with meeting a man on the Tube who insists on telling her fortune--or is there something more sinister at work? This tense story unfold slowly, with some surprises--certainly, the ending was one. It's one of those stories that kept me reading, even when I should have put it done and done something else for a while.

On the Tube one night, Emily encounters a mysterious man. He claims he a psychic and reads her palm. He predicts that within the month, three people will betray her and that he sees a gun pointed at her head soon.
As his predictions about the betrayals start to come true, Emily is suspicious about the others that will betray her. She sets out on a mission to figure out who it is that will be pointing a gun to her head.
During her investigation into the betrayals, she learns that it’s her husband’s betrayals that may be connected to the man on the Tube. Who else is going to betray Emily, and who is holding the gun to her head?
HOLY DEBUT NOVEL!!! I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. It is abolsutely amazing, and a plot that I haven’t read before. It was absolutey refreshing. This author has a wonderful voice and mind for pscyhological thrillers.
Allie Davies wrote Emily so well that all her emotions and anxieties lept off the page making the reader feel everything that Emily was feeling. I was right along for the ride with her the entire time.
I never once guessed all the connections, or how this was going to end. I just had to keep reading (staying up late) so I could read more and finish the book. I cannot wait for others to experience this book. I also cannot wait to be able to read more books by Allie Davies in the future.
I loved this book. It hooked me right from the beginning. We are taken inside the troubled mind of the protagonist who is clearly dealing with some trauma. We don't know what it is - quite yet. But we are intrigued and want to find out more. Her relationship with her husband is fractured. In fact, she suspects him of cheating on her and has hired a PI.
And then strange occurrences start to happen. She meets a man on the tube who is the specter of someone who died recently who she read about in the papers. He is strangely enigmatic. He tells her fortune which disturbs our protagonist to the point she starts suspecting everyone in her inner circle of wanting to hurt her.
The book is beautifully paced. I couldn't put it down. The story pulls you along just right, always imparting exactly the right amount of information to keep you engaged - and guessing. I loved the paranormal elements. In fact, it made me hungry to read more books in this genre.
The ending was beautifully done. I did not see it coming. But it seemed inevitable at the same time.
Well done and 5 stars from me!

We get an insight of Emily's fractured mind. Her failed marriage possible cheating, losing a child and the paranoid behavior that could result from not taking her medications. When Emily encounters a stranger on the Tube he palm reads her hand. Three wrongdoings. Three betrayals and a gun pointed at her head. That would be enough to drive anyone crazy. Emily hires a PI to investigate whether her husband is cheating. Then so many coincidences happen to make her believe that perhaps these weren't coincidences afterall. Emily starts to investigate deeper into her husband and the murders. As the pieces of the puzzle start to fall in place she realizes that it's only a matter of time before the gun is pointed at her head. A fabulous read. Thrillers aren’t a genre that I tend to aim for, but in knowing Allie and having many conversations with her about her writing I was intrigued when she told me what the story was about and so I treated myself to a copy.
I love Allie’s voice and the way she describes the world of her characters. The story was so natural and down-to-earth and yet at the same time, kept me on my toes.
I was hooked by the opening scene and the more I read, the more I found myself trying to figure out what was going on. Not that I did, which was great as the ending came as a complete surprise.
I fully enjoyed this story and I’m looking forward to her next release.
The author gives the reader a peek of the mind of the main character. A glimpse of what she is going through. The story keeps the reader wondering what is going on next and keeps it interesting. There are enough twists and turns that makes the reader keep reading until the end.

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
What a great debut novel! It had me gripped from start to finish. I did not expect some of those plot twists, especially towards the end. Looking forward the next one. Highly recommend!

Review: I'm shocked that this is Allie's debut novel. The writing is really good, what a fantastic debut novel. I ended up plowing through this book because every time I got to the end of one chapter, I had to keep going to see what the next chapter would bring.
I love when the narrator is unreliable. Especially when other factors come into play such as alcohol or in this case, going off anti-depressants cold-turkey. It makes it incredibly hard to trust the character and as a reader, you spend a lot of time wondering what is real and what isn't. I spent the entire time trying to figure out and guess what was happening, trying to put all the pieces of this puzzle back together to see the full picture. This is one of those books where you think you understand the connections and bigger picture, but when you get to the end you realize you had it very wrong.
“They whisper in hard tones, probably hoping they cannot be heard over the thunderous rumble of the Tube. It's obvious they are in the midst of a heated discussion. He's staring into her eyes. I recognise the forced expression that appears on his face when he says, 'There's no one else.' Yes, I know that look.” ― Allie Davies, The Fate She Sees
I really enjoyed Emily's character. She was very relatable and it was easy to get sucked into her mind and experience her feelings.
Overall I give this book 3.5 stars because I loved the plot, I enjoyed the character development, and the storyline was very engaging. I can't wait to see what Allie writes next.
This is a good psychological thriller. It is a bit slow but the story is building up. It goes into detail from beginning to end about Emily's past and present life. There are twists and turns that will keep you guessing.
