From the global coloring sensation, a new, dazzling compilation of colorists' favorite images from Kerby Rosanes's stupefying Worlds series.
World of Color is a book of coloring challenges that showcase the internationally bestselling illustrator's astounding artistic skill through eighty pages of super-detailed artwork in Kerby's signature style. Loyal fans and newcomers alike will be entranced and enthralled as they step into his singular imagination.
Featuring a full-color sixteen-page section at the beginning to display the work of some of Kerby's most talented fans, the original art in this section will demonstrate the incredible, unique approaches that colorists can try their hands at in the subsequent pages.
Philippines-based illustrator Kerby Rosanes works mainly with ordinary black fine liners to magically illustrate his “doodle” world. Considers his art as a personal hobby which turned out to be his part-time freelance work after being recognized by various design blogs, international magazines and online art communities. Most of his works are characterized by whimsical lines, patterns, characters and little elements that are spontaneously combined to create massive compositions depicting his everyday inspirations or scenes from his quirky imagination.
I absolutely am astonished by the magical creativity of each of Kerby Rosanes' coloring books. Each is wholly original and yet utterly identifiable as the artist's work. This latest installment is a compilation of those original artworks, and it is a beautiful collection.
The pictures are glorious. They are complex and complicated and absolutely delightful. This type of coloring experience is not really designed for beginners - there is a level of detail and intricacy here that requires significant time commitments to complete. These are not simply coloring pages, they are works of art that are optimized by shading and a sense of color and creativity. But even if you, like me, are not an artist, it is possible to create something truly beautiful when the baseline picture is this astonishing.
This book includes a number of samples that look to be professionally colored. I used those as inspiration and did my best. The results aren't going to be hanging in galleries anytime soon of course, but they were extraordinarily fun to create nevertheless!
Thanks to the publisher and fantastically talented artist for my obligation-free review copy.
It is important to note that this is a collection of colorists' favorite Kerby Rosanes drawings. There are no new images in this coloring book. I noticed some people have given a poor review for this coloring book because they thought there would be new pages. I knew what I was getting into when I received a copy for review.
The artwork is of course, amazing. These pages may seem like they are for expert-level coloring artists, but you don't have to be. You can do your own thing and practice more advanced coloring techniques shown in the beginning by the colorists who chose the artwork included. And instead of the colorist giving commentary on their techniques, Kerby gives it! So you get his perspective about how his images were colored.
Check out the Look Inside feature on Amazon to see some of the artwork. It is always a joy to see Kerby's artwork. Excuse me while I find my coloring pencils...
Every time a new Kirby Rosanes coloring book comes out I think it’s better than the last. I love the intricate imaginative pictures. Each one is a challenge to color. In this edition, the work of several colorists is showcased. The full color pictures are beautiful, but even better is the critique that accompanies each one. I learned a lot by reading them.
The book is solidly constructed with heavy pages so the colors won’t bleed through. I highly recommend this book if you’re a fan of Kirby Rosanes.I think the fantasy pictures are some of his best. If you’re interested in getting started as a colorist, this is a terrific book to pick up.
I received this book from Penguin Random House for this review.
