About the Book

This book describes the life and philosophy of Shankaracharya. It uses a fast paced narrative which reads almost like a novel. The book succeeds in exploring the depth and breadth of Shankaracharya's personality, witnessed in the part played by him in resurrecting a rapidly declining dharma. This biography is not written in a 'Western historical sense', rather, it follows the style of our timeless Puranas and includes inspiring material interspersed between stories about Shankaracharya. Indeed, it fills a gap felt by many; namely a book which explains Shankaracharya's philosophy in a simple and interesting manner. This is the greatest achievement of the book. About the Author The author is a sannyasi in the lineage of Shankaracharya, having been initiated into sannyasa at Shringeri. Undoubtedly, he is one of the greatest scholars of Advaita Vedanta of this century and his pure life is a source of constant inspiration for his disciples.

What a beautiful book on Adi Shankaracharya ji. The message, the essence of Advaita and our dharma is told in a divinely way. This is second book I read on Adi Shankaracharya. I throughly enjoyed this book Mahaparivrajak and Atmatirtham. Now its time for me to dvelve more on Adi Shankaracharya's bhashya (commentary). I recently bought book on Brahmasutra. Hope I read that book sooner.

Param Pujya Swami Shri Parmanand Bharati ji is not only a Sannyasin of the Advaita tradition, but also an authentic Acharya of the unbroken tradition of Jagadguru shree Shankaracharya. Undoubtedly he is one of the eminent scholars of this century of Advaita sect. His pure and unselfish life is a source of great inspiration for all the seekers. Do follow his Youtube channel. He gave lot of discourses in Hindi, Kannada and English.

For my friends out there, Both Mahaparivrajak and Atmatirtham are good books. This book is also available in Sanskrit, Kannada and Hindi.

And one more thing, this book was published by Chaukambha. Their books are trustable just like Gita Press. Quality content and authors know Sanskrit, not like those mainstream writers who don't know Sanskrit and yet write books on Hinduism.
