Neale Donald Walsch on Abundance and Right Livelihood: Applications for Living series

Rate this book
Essentially, God tells us in Conversations with God that most of us do not understand what abundance really is. We confuse it with money. Yet when we take stock of that in which we truly are abundant, and choose to share it freely with everyone whose life we touch, we find that what we thought was abundance--money--comes to us freely. Even this chain of events, however, many of us cannot accept. For when we think of money, we imagine that it is an experience and an energy that stands outside of the reality of God. Yet there is nothing in the universe that stands outside of the reality of God, that is not a part of God. Once we understand that money is a part of what God is, our attitude about money changes. We see it as an extension of the glory of God, not the root of all evil. This can produce astonishing results. Just what is abundance? Is it lots of money, lots of stuff that money can buy? That's what many people believe. And many work at jobs they dislike, just to support that belief. Neale Donald Walsch gives us the simple key to understanding the true nature of abundance, and a practical easy-to-understand philosophy for applying that knowledge to our daily lives. Neale Donald Walsch on Abundance and Right Livelihood is an inspirational, and sometimes humorous, exploration of the real meaning of money and prosperity--and of the secret to finding happiness with "right livelihood"--all of which leads to creating the true abundance we all desire.

Neale Donald Walsch is a modern day spiritual messenger whose words continue to touch the world in profound ways. With an early interest in religion and a deeply felt connection to spirituality, Neale spent the majority of his life thriving professionally, yet searching for spiritual meaning before beginning his now famous conversation with God. His With God series of books has been translated into 34 languages, touching millions of lives and inspiring important changes in their day-to-day lives.

In addition to authoring the renowned With God series, Neale has published 16 other works, as well as a number of video and audio programs. Available throughout the world, each of the CwG dialogue books has made the New York Times Bestseller list, Conversations with God-Book 1 occupying that list for over two and half years.

The With God Series has redefined God and shifted spiritual paradigms around the globe. In order to deal with the enormous response to his writings, Neale created the Conversations with God Foundation, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to inspiring the world to help itself move from violence to peace, from confusion to clarity, and from anger to love.

Neale's work has taken him from the steps of Macchu Picchu in Peru to the steps of the Shinto shrines of Japan, from Red Square in Moscow to St. Peters Square in Vatican City to Tiananmen Square in China. And everywhere he has gone-from South Africa to Norway, Croatia to The Netherlands, the streets of Zurich to the streets of Seoul, Neale has found a hunger among the people to find a new way to live, at last, in peace and harmony, and he has sought to bring people a new understanding of life and of God which would allow them to experience that."

God referenced as ‘herself’… suspect.

In short, Neale merges a hippie-esk vision of the world with the World Economic Forums vision of ‘you will own nothing and be happy’ propaganda. It’s a very immature take on the ability of humanity to become entirely altruistic while simultaneously eliminating man’s inclination towards leaning into dark afflictions as a collective resulting in a global Kumbaya.

Glad to see it was not under the Christian genre but fairly certain it does not align with, self help, where it is being categorized.

This review is my opinion. Allegedly. Don’t come for me….

I felt that Mr. Walsch would have been able to express this book better if he had used God's voice and not so much his own. If this is an example of listening to him in person, I'd choose not to. He rambled on and I found it distracting. I have been following the Conversation With God books since the first book came out. I love them :)

Some of Neale's books are written as (actual) conversations between him and God, some are written as a joint voice of him and God, and some are written just in his personal voice, but drawing on everything he's learned. This is one of the ones written in just his voice.
