She has completely different ideas about our futures.
Author note: Does not included shifters. May sound like a historical romance, but its contemporary! 18+ This book is a standalone, so no cliffhanger with the potential of other interconnected books with other FMCs
The premise of a world governed by animalistic impulses, and the quest for a suitable mate among the elite initially intrigued me. Think modern Bridgerton with alpha, beta, and omegas.
Contemporary omegaverse MMMMF (contains mm) Knotting, nesting, heat, claiming Loads of contradictions Not near enough groveling Abrupt resolution Why does she have spider arms on the cover?
While there were some smoking hot sexual scenes between all of them, I didn’t feel the relationship and characters were developed very well.
Many of my friends loved this story, so you might like it as well. Just wasn’t a good fit for me.
3 stars for the first half 1 star for the last half Whelp, the only reason why I didn’t DNF at 66%, 75%, 87% and 92% was just the complete shock and disbelief that this book could fall apart so fast and just the hope that it could get back on track. It never did.
I thought the first half of this book was pretty good, aside from some odd verbiage (what forty year genius engineer Type A mom says “zero chill” or what therapist says “fuck boy”?!?😅🤦🏻♀️ I digress) and the similarities to Pack Darling but the “twist”, lack of fleshed out storylines, massive info dumpy paragraphs, and execution in the second half just didn’t work for me. I can’t remember the last time I read a book that went so bad so fast. I still have whiplash from whatever that last 40% was.
I feel like I maybe, kinda, sorta, get what Sam Hall was trying to do with Marcus’s character being this “genius master manipulator”who has this huge plan in motion but it just didn’t work for me. He was just a liar and then later on says he doesn’t lie?!? What was that whole scene at the secret season party then?? Huh?? *shakes head*
Ugh Marcus, Marcus, Marcus like can we really believe he’s this omniscient intelligent character when we get three pages of “look at all I’ve done, bhahaha, I’m a genius game player”….game player 😑….monologue that honestly read like a weird villainy diatribe. I was hoping that he was the villain, because the actual “villain” that all this was supposedly done for anyways wasn’t even formidable at this point, and was so excited to see Bren, Rhys, and the h in their own trio. Yikes, apparently that was the wrong thing to wish for! And I mean really how many times do we need to read how awesome Marcus is, how smart he is, how cunning. He wasn’t! So having it shoved down my throat like a giant alpha cock was irritating AF. Yea, I was gagging during this mess! I’ve read plenty where we do get actual manipulators and what’s so diabolical about them is how they twist everything but they don’t actually lie and aren’t fake or playing characters. He isn’t a manipulator; he’s a liar and he tricked her which is actually totally fine except then I need a grovel or a redemption arc or hell even some remorse and we didn’t get it because they all just excused it because he’s being a strong alpha? dafuq? Isn’t being a good alpha including your pack and your mates? Of course we get the ever so creative excuse of plausible deniability as the reasoning behind his secrecy. 🙄
I also failed to understand how in this world that Sam created where alphas are super protective and nurturing, could Marcus stand by and watch his mate get assaulted. As far as we’re told this goes against an alpha qualities and he’s supposed to be the alpha of the alphas. 🤨 that was for the good of the group? That the only way for the outcome Marcus needed to be achieved according to his brilliant ass was for her to get assaulted? And he stood there and watched??? Bro, no but you apologized six years later only after you saw the effect it had on her so I guess all is okay now. What a genius, amirite?!? 😖
Every single thing in this book at some point contradicts itself. The world. The characters. The plot. We’re told she’s getting stronger and working on herself well it reads like she’s having a psychotic break lol. We’re told that he is playing a huge brilliant game but he appears like a conman with no regard for his female mate. He was all about Orion though and man Orion was certainly his biggest fan! 🙄 don’t even get me started on the events of the ball or how that played out. *sigh*
Overall: The execution really killed this one. It was too confusing. Errors and using the wrong names at times made it difficult to follow who was talking: it will say “she” and then “I” during dialogue so you have no clue who is actually talking and the guys names get switched around a few times. Massive info dumps in the last half. Things didn’t line up or connect at all. There’s no from A to B to C it’s a freakin zig zag with no direction. Weird moments: they bring guns to meet the other alpha?!? That they’re in love with?!? Whose a member of their pack? Like why?!? 🤣🤦🏻♀️ Characters were constantly changing their minds from one second to the next. The characters were also underdeveloped and one dimensional as was the relationships with their omega. I could go on and on but I’m throwing my hands in the air at this point!
Im unsure if I’ll continue on with the series though because I do like the world that Sams created. We get so few omegaverse RHs that I just want to gobble them all up. The execution just really killed this one and that doesn’t give me a lot of faith that book two will be stronger. Maybe with a new alpha/beta team and editors/proofreaders. I’m also not a huge fan of Ari and I’m assuming she’s the next h. I didn’t like her “role” in this story so it doesn’t make me care about reading hers.

The beautiful prose, the well defined characters and their unexpected relationships, the mystery and suspense, the incredibly hot smut… The complexity of emotions and how well developed and paced the whole thing was… This book is a masterpiece.
It felt like an study of human nature and the intricacies of human relationships. Like a fever dream of the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever read, all entangled in complex emotions and beautiful prose, so full of passion and devotion and love, it made me want to die a little bit out of pure bliss.
The ABO aspect, which was a lot more prominent and important than in other omegaverse books, just grabbed me and refused to let go. There was a lot of discussions about the nature of Omegas and Alphas, and it translated impeccably to what our society believes heterosexual relationships should be like. I just loved how emotionally smart this book was.
I’ve read other RH where the men were involved with each other, but nothing can compare to this book. The level of intimacy, passion and fucking love between these 4 Alphas left me breathless. I’ve never read anything more beautiful.
Looking for an omegaverse with the same feels as Pack Darling? Look no further!! I am in absolute awe of this book. The twists and turns were so unexpected that you literally never saw them coming. My heart broke for the betrayal but in the end we all got the happily ever after that every omega wishes for! Book 2 may feature different characters but dangit.. after this one.. I cant wait to see what Sam gets them into!!
This was recommended to me as something to tide me over until Pack Darling Part 2 but unfortunately, this just wasn't it.
The first half reads as fast burn erotica, and the second half turns into a convoluted thriller. The "twists" are exposition vomit. None of the characters are particularly likable. (The men are assholes through and through, and their actions are excused by convenient plot circumstances). I found myself initially empathetic to the MC's internal struggles, but they get old very quickly.
As an aside: This book features a ton of M/M between all pack members, not just a single M/M couple. If even a small amount of that would irk you, you would not enjoy this book. The relationship between the men is centered maybe 10% more than the relationship between them and the MC.
Good Girl was a pretty good introduction to the season series. From the very beginning, I was hooked and just wanted to see what was going to happen. The characters kept me on my toes and they were also pretty likable in my eyes. At the moment, I don't think I have a favorite but there are some in the running. Maybe the sequel will help or maybe it wont.
As for everything else? I enjoyed the twists and turns throughout the book. They kept me on my toes at times but I secretly wanted more before I got to the end of this. Speaking of that ending, hmm, I'm not really sure what to say right now. For some reason I kept thinking this was a standalone, so it was a happy surprise that there was going to be another book.
In the end, I'm hoping things get even more exciting in the next book.
Can we take a moment for Rhys appreciation? Big gooey teddybear men are my weakness. Truly. If you have a cinnamon roll hero, chances are that’s my guy. Especially if he’s a big hulking guy and his personality juxtaposes his appearance. Rhys - loved. Bren - wonderful. Orion and Marcus - both great guys just didn’t love as deeply as Rhys and Bren. Cyn is a great omega. She pushes outside the norm for omegas. Overall, good read. Everything comes full circle.
Why not 5 stars? Tbh I needed more depth and intimacy between Cyn and all of her men. Obviously that will develop more over time but I wish it was included more in this. The author put that the Christmas book in this series is an extended epilogue for this book so maybe I’d find what I’m seeking there.
Just was not feeling it with this one. Something about the writing and the heroine I guess. Damn this is the second book I'm DNF-ing in a row now..I can see that reading slump close in by the second now.😬
Once again I have a book with a great first half and… a not so great second half. I liked the story as a whole but there was just more I wanted from this book.
Reading the first half, I though this would definitely be at least a four star. I liked the plot of them going to “Bridgerton the situation”. However, right after they explained their plan they basically scrapped the whole thing. I just wish we had more chapters of that than her just going to Brendan’s family and some other behind the scene parties.
Another part I wish we got more of was them falling for her. It seamed one second that we’re all begrudgingly agreeing to play along then they all wanted to bite her and make her their mate. It just seemed we jumped to that point when that’s usually the best part of a book.
The second half was kind of a mess plot wise and it was a bit of a stretched with how Marcus just knew everything. I also felt that he used Cyn to glue his pack together and it just didn’t feel right to me. They tried to quickly fix that whole mess in the last 20 pages but I felt that Marcus deserved to do the most grovelling and frankly, did the least. I’m a big sucker for the guy(s) chasing the girl whereas in this book, it felt like it was always her that was more into it than the guys.
I love some good grovelling and we got that for Bren and even Rhys a bit but that was it; I believe they were the two that didn’t even need to do much in the first place! It’s was just a bit of a let down.
But the middle part from when they started showing up to her house up to her relationship with Bren getting fixed was chefs kiss. I love that bit the most and it bumped up my rating an extra star.
Overall it was a solid book just missing some development in my opinion. I still really enjoyed myself and with be continuing the story.
What a read! It had all the elements I love in a book; omegaverse, M/M, alphaholes!
I usually get through a book within a day, but I took my time with this one (two days! LOL), absorbing every word. I’m a huge fan of Sam Hall’s work so wanted to relish in being one of the first to read her words – and what a treat! This was a great read from start to finish. Fantastic characters; Cyn is an amazing Omega – not letting her designation define who she is or who she could be; stepping outside the comfort box and pushing her boundaries – what we would all like to say we’d be like! The Alpha males each add a strength to the pack to make it a solid unit, they just need that last element of an omega to take them to that next level.
The writer has managed to capture all the emotions in this book – all the feels! You can literally feel the pain, the love and the angst. Highlighting the power of communication in relationships, and what can happen when that component is removed.
This book has lived up my expectations of Sam’s amazing skills for transporting you to another place when you open the pages (or page-flip as is the case for kindle readers!). Absolutely 5/5 stars worth of writing right here and a must-read for all!
It's not giving what it was supposed to have gave 😩 dnf
I'm all for purple prose but this was too much. It got to the point where I read a sentence 5 times but still didn't understand it 🥲 the vibes were off too - I saw in another review where the reviewer said they felt like the heroine was describing the world through a "fog" and I agree!! Imo purple prose should be used to enhance work building but this did the opposite, it made it rlly dull...
But there were also so many unfamiliar phrases (to me) thrown in there. For example:
“But this is the first time I’ve worn this dress, and gravel rash is a bit beyond the pale at the first event of the season.”
What does that even mean??? Is it Australian slang??? I'm so confused 😭
Also I'm not a fan of OW in the books I read but I can tolerate it when done well (like with Caroline in Lola & the Millionaires). But having one of the first scenes be one where the pack coerces (?) another omega into an orgy... 🤔 I got turned off before the pack were even introduced as love interests.
The heroine was weird too. I didn't understand what her aspirations were at all because she was so wishy washy about everything. Why did she go to therapy? Does she want to be mated or not? What is her relationship like with her mother? Random questions that should've been answered naturally thru the writing but weren't :/
Won't be continuing unfortunately.

"'So we're Bridgerton-ing this thing?' I asked, looking to the outside world like I'd asked him something super saucy, like if he wanted to measure the depth of my throat with his dick."
I am such a big fan of Sam Hall's writing style and humor. Such a fan. The second read just as deliciously addictive as the first. Definitely in my top favs of reverse-harem/omegaverse written work. So good. It can't be said enough.
I began this book with zero expectations, and to be honest, I expected to be disappointed. Why? I don't know, the title, the cover, a not-so-familiar author, not too many reviews from GR friends. I was shocked when it blew me away.
Firstly the MM-Romance aspect. In reverse harem romances, the focus tends to be on the female MC & MM scenes being pretty mediocre. Not here, the male MCs love one another well before the FMC came into play and that love and passion are on-page, graphic, and scorching.
The writing is impeccable, vivid, and explicit.
The characters!! Thank you Sam Hall for actually stepping away from reverse-harem cliches and creating characters that truly stand out and intrigue. You're in for a treat here with a special someone that I won't elaborate upon.
The plot was surprising, refreshing, enticing, exciting... I was invested in all the external conflict and the journey outside of the romance. Sam Hall threw curve balls left and right and made sure to wrap it all up in a pretty bow in the end. A bit of a mind-fuck, so I would add a bit of psychological play as an element in Good Girl
Overall this hit the spot, with some dark characters, intriguing MCs, hot sex scenes, great poly-dynamic, excellent evil character, memorable secondary ones, well thought out world-building, perfect pacing, best groveling scenes, and HEA to complete the package.
Highly recommend the audiobook, Verity James kills it with her Australian accent.
First things first, Good Girl was this author’s first Omegaverse book, and if I didn’t know that before I started it, I would have assumed she had been writing in this genre for years. In the author’s notes, she thanks the other Omegaverse authors who helped her through the process. So she not only understood the assignment, but also handed in extra credit and graduated valedictorian…
I was hooked on this book from beginning to end. I buddy read this with a friend and we couldn’t put it down to save our lives.
Cynthia, our lovely Omega, has had a rough go of her life. She had no inclination towards being an Omega and sure as hell wished she was anything but what she is. After a traumatic event, she takes time alone before “reintroducing” herself to society.
She meets Orion, who has his own baggage in the form of 3 other Alpha males whom he’s mated to… which is very taboo in this world. They make an agreement to Bridgerton the hell out of this Omega Season; she will provide him and his mates a plausible girlfriend to get their families off their backs, and in return they will help her find the Alpha of her dreams.
To say that things go sideways quickly is an understatement… before you can blink, this group is tangled up in one another in more ways than one, secrets binding them together that they weren’t even fully aware of.
Watching Cynthia find her voice and her place in this new world is deeply satisfying. Her men are equally satisfying to watch bend to her will and to watch them realize that there’s so much more to life than the box that they’ve placed themselves in which effectively shut everyone else out.
Review in english :I really like the "omegaverse" books. Unfortunately, this one was a disappointment.
Why? A simplistic plot and a romance based only on lust and not on love. The MC falls very easily in love with the love interest. It is frankly absurd. At 40% of the book, the story is almost complete.
Cyn is a pretty interesting character. Her omega reactions are well explained. Her only flaw is that she is very weak when her love interest are involved. Honestly, I don't understand what she sees in them. I would have preferred an MC who is more resourceful and independent.
The story is unfortunately, a bit banal with too much sex and not enough depth and love.
DNF 59%. I really hate it when there is a huge power imbalance in the harem. The fact that she mated Rhys and he suddenly became the only one she cared about was not the move. Up until that point they were all on even playing fields, but after he bites her he's the only one she cares about. She did a little speech after finding out about their "betrayal"? And basically went in on the other three dudes telling them about themselves and ripping them a new one. Guess what she has to say for the love of her life Rhys when its his turn to be ripped a new one? She basically tells him how amazing he is and how that's what the others use him for, oh and how good he fucked her (I thought she loved the sex with Orion and others but that was before the biting in the neck (mating) so apparently Rhys is the only one good at sex now). "There is nothing true in them, nothing pure enough to catch my heart, but you?" this is said to Rhys, her new one and only love. Um in what reverse harem is it ok to say this about your other mates. Like even her critique of his betrayal is to just shit on the other three harem members. At this point the power imbalance is so bad and blatant that I don't see how the author can write herself out of that hole convincingly enough for me. Hell, she basically said those other three didn't have a chance in hell of making her fall in love with them.
All of this would have been less annoying had it not come out of nowhere. Like I said up until she mated with Rhys everyone seemed to be on even playing fields in her mind and heart. So for it to suddenly be just fuck the other three harem members and be all about Rhys, annoyed the fuck out of me. Then to top it off with her saying really fucked up shit about the other three harem members like the quote I posted, just smh. They all "betrayed" you yet you only saw fit to shit on the other three but not your mate.

This is one of my favourite omegaverse reads. I love re-reading this story. I've decided that Sam Hall is a truly diabolical storyteller. Sneaky as F getting me to think about identity, social awareness, eco-warriors, and stereotypes of strength and weakness. This story had a big sexy sexy build to an inevitable crash when it all came tumbling down and, oh, the reckoning that came after. Delicious!
I think this was the first book to challenge me about why any troupe is explored. Why did we need to create this label of alpha, beta, and omega to explore dominace and submission in relationships? Not necessarily sexual but also the power plays in how we relate to others.
It feels like the usual explicit omegaverse at the start, but I think it offers so much more. There was a passionate aggressiveness to the exploration of the alpha/beta/omega stereotypes. An emotional exploration of how that could relate to positions of power, money, and fame. Do you embrace your stereotype? What has the world boxed in with? What's worth keeping or discarding in how you are labelled, either by yourself or others? Is it true or false?
Plus, reverse harem! M/M. Good triumphs evil. Grovelling. 😘 so many little gems.
Next time I re-read, I should probably highlight the crap out of my favourite parts.
New to me author Sam Hall has written my favourite omegaverse book yet.
Rather than writing the typical books (which i also like … don’t get me wrong 😉) where alphas and omegas are strongly ruled by their impulses she made these characters more, much more. Each of the 4 alphas have very distinct personalities from each because of their different backgrounds and choices. They are not solely defined by their biology.
The stories the boys told of how they came to love each other, then what drew them to Cyn was so detailed and beautifully written.
As the story progressed we learned there was more going on that we ever would have guessed. Sam Hall is a plotting mastermind.
Having all the mates so in love with each other rather than the typical harem of best friends was also unique. I absolutely loved it.
I will be checking out more books by this author in the future.
I can always expect Sam Hall to give her own bit of flair and spice to a popular trope. Whether it’s omegaverse, fated mates, fae, she always gives her own little twist. This book was no different.
What started off as a seemingly omegaverse/kind of sweetverse book ended up having a whole ulterior background, of course. I can’t get onto it without spoilers but we have betrayal, ulterior motives, secrets and so much more. If you think this is just about a girl getting the guys, it’s not that at all. Well, maybe a little.
Cyn, our female main character, is not your typical omega. She was raised by a strong beta to potentially become a beta or even an alpha. It surprised both her and her mother when she emerged as an omega. She’s strong, she’s defiant and she fights for what she believes in. She understands that it’s hard to fight biology but she always tries to remain true to herself and what she believes in.
I don’t know what I can say about the men without giving away a lot of spoilers. I did enjoy that they were in their own relationship and it was explained why it was different and how having Cyn brought in would change many things.
As with typical omegaverse, there’s a lot of steam and Sam Hall excels in writing those. Just read her books if that’s what you like.
There are so many revelations, some I wasn’t even expecting, but it all came together beautifully at the end. For those who enjoy a sweeter omegaverse but still a few alphaholes, this one is for you.
I couldn't get past 25%. I think for me I just wasn't expecting how it was all playing out. We meet cyn, an omega who hasn't been around for the omega events for along while, or only goes to some, and is learning to workout/train I guess to be strong? So I get this idea that she doesn't want to be like the rest of the omegas. She doesn't want to be dressed like them, she doesn't even look soft and small like them. And I was loving the idea of a omega fitting outside her box. That all crashes swift and fast. Its like " well who was this cool omega a min ago?" Because now we have an omega who can't really do much because the minute these alphas demand her to do something she is bond to have to listen because that's how it works? She says she wants to help, but really how would she say no if she wanted to? What was the point of being stronger? With and alpha just putting in a command like that, the whole being strong is pretty much forfeit? I'm so.confused? This omega acts like everything she said she wasn't? like a bloody wanting omega hot for alpha knot? I just didn't understand the conflicting storytelling. And I was really onboard for a strong omega storyline.
So many times in this book I would re-read a passage because I couldn’t figure out who was talking or doing something, or I didn’t understand why someone felt or acted a certain way. I was confused often. Maybe it was just my mental state at the time, but it led me to not really enjoying this book very much.
I haven’t read many of the omegaverse type books, mostly the sweet style. The author says at the beginning of the book that this book is somewhere between the sweet and the more aggressive style. I think there was that blend of sweet and aggressive here that many would enjoy, but personally it was not for me. I didn’t enjoy that aggression between people that supposedly love each other.
There were twists I certainly didn’t see coming, which was refreshing. But I also didn’t feel satisfied with the ending. Not all wrongs were sufficiently worked out and atoned for, in my mind.
So overall, I’m sure many will love this book, but it wasn’t right for me.
This book started off sooo good. I loved the whole bridgerton'ing aspect at the beginning of the story and the omega/alpha world the author introduced. The sex scenes at the beginning, for the most part, were really hot! But once I got to the second half of the book it went downhill. The story started to get really confusing and I just lost all interest. I honestly should have just dnf'd. Oh, and I couldn't stand Marcus. He's a big part of why I started to slowly lose interest. Every other guy in the harem were amazing though. Sadly, I won't be continuing the series.
Very good OV story. One thing I really liked about this novel is that, of course some very dramatic things happen in this novel, but they are not portrayed in an overly dramaticly fashion. The characters are well fleshed out. Granted, some we don't get to know well until later. For example, I didnt really feel like I had a good image of Bren until later as he Lay's felt like he was on the fringes initially.
The story couldn't even get more perfect than it already was! What a ride it was, each guy had their different breed of love! Their love for one another- Rhys, Orion,Marcus,Brendon and their legit princess Cynthia.
Each had their own set of demons and all of them were struggling , some of them openly and some disguising their suffering in the face of carefree ruthlessness and manipulation!
The guys were so sweet and so caring and the way each of them fell to their knees for their omega without caring for social norms or being a big bad ALPHAs , it just melted my heart.
Idk I think I just struggle reading a/b/o stories that aren't on AO3, because the authors there just get it 😭.
These published books just come across as forced and unserious to me (and not in a fun way 💀). There are some gems on that website and I haven't found a book that's lived up to them for me yet. I also wasn't a fan of the writing style with this🤷♀️.
This one popped up on the goodreads recs, I saw Bridgerton (never seen it) and thought lets give it a go. Its soft but there is dark themes and the omegas struggle to be strong. Orion, Rhys, Bren and Marcus are already a pack and don't need anyone else. I liked that. The guys had their own love story and it was so sweet. At that point I already didn't like the father.
One of my favourite characters was George, his loyalty and the reminding thank yous were nice. Then there was Kai and a whole lot of therapy. Favourite though was Marcus. Gotta love a mastermind. Thinking back, it didn't feel like they were planning to match Cyn with anyone. There were scenes but mostly it was all look but don't touch. Curious about James.

Sam Hall's Good Girl has the three big G's that fans of Pack Darling will eat right the f*ck up: growling, gushing, and groveling.
Omegas are in season, and Cyn's about to become someone's prey.
Orion, Marcus, Bren, and Rhys are a pack of alphas who live a poly lifestyle, much to the disappointment and confusion of their families. Since their love isn't supported or understood, the guys have grown protective over each other and the bond that they share. To say they have some rough edges is a little bit of understatement, but really, Marcus and Orion (though he starts out looking like quite the smooth talker) have got some work to do. Basically, despite mostly honorable intentions (I mean, what's more honorable than wanting to find a way to stay with the loves of your life), the guys entangle Cyn in their pack. But you guys know how this story goes- with such high stakes and so many hearts on the line, love's gotta do some smacking around.
Now, regardless of how much they wind up deserving some backhands to the face and kicks to the balls, I enjoyed the pack that Hall created.
Marcus is a bit of a Moriarty, clever to a fault (lots of fault), charming when he wants to be, and totally much too aware of having the previous two attributes. Now, if anyone is the hard sell for this story, I felt like it was him. He's got a certain level of distance from Cyn, and I felt like there was just a smidge too little time to fully earn her forgiveness, but I'm not mad about how it all turned out. It's really a more minor critique, not something that ruined the story of relationship progression for me.
Orion is the have in a pack of have nots. But aside from that, he's got a big heart, and there's something that feels very vulnerable about him. While all the guys have baggage, Orion's is most directly related to the challenges that the pack faces, so even though they all go through the wringer, it hits a little closer to home for him.
Rhys is the BLG: big loveable giant. He is 100% my favorite, and I want a Rhys of my own. He's sweet, super attentive to Cyn and her needy omega biology, and he's the beating heart of the pack.
Bren is a big of underdog within his own pack. But honestly, that makes me like him even more. He comes from a sweet family who wants the best for him, and despite his smarminess, there's a really lovely soul that beats out from his character. I think that he and Rhys are the best written of the pack, most definitely.
The dynamics between the men are done very well. If you're not a fan of M/M, I'm sorry, but please don't read this book. The pack isn't with each other simply because they want to get their "needs" taken care of. There's a genuine emotional relationship between them, and one of my favorite moments in the book is when Rhys, Bren, and Orion tell part of their story. Hall does a nice job of showing the love and care that develops between Cyn and her pack, but I have to admit, I was 10% more there for the men's relationships and little intimate moments. They hit me in all the feels I wanted.
Now, Cyn, our leading omega. I like Cyn; she's a bit stuck, not fully ready to be who/what she is while having no choice in the matter. There's just the right amount of angst as far as her identity is concerned. I felt like Hall helped us experience Cyn's baggage without overwriting it to the point that I felt like I was drowning in it, so there's nice balance there. She's also not a pushover, which is always refreshing to see. I think that a lot of readers will be able to like Cyn, so that's an important box checked.
Overall, the plot is paced well, it's definitely interesting, and Hall doesn't shy away from any messy moments (like the change your underwear kind of the you need to get on your knees and apologize kind). She hits on the hallmarks that fans of omegaverse are going to want-heats, knotting, claiming, pack dynamics-and even provides her own twist on the alpha/beta/omega dynamic as part of her worldbuilding. That gives us the cozy comforts of what we want from the trope, but we're also getting something that's a little fresh. With conflict coming from outside the pack AND within the pack, we've got drama to keep your head turning in different directions, and we get the guilty pleasure of watching these boys have to make up for their mistakes.
iiiii was confused for like the entire second half of this lol
idk if i just wasnt paying attention, but i didnt get what was going on/how things all fit together
i will say beginning was really fun and i liked the fake dating concept (even tho it was very shortlived) but when we got to the more wild side of the plot i was kind of lost
I think maybe I need a break from Omegaverse. I almost dnf'd this but kept going because I love a good grovel (this one was okay). There was a lot of smexy times in this and not enough tension and relationship building. I honestly could not understand the FMC motivation to be with the guys. And also, fuck Marcus, I can't be fucked with him tbh. Do not understand the comparison to Pack Darling.
