Bear has been living side by side with crime lords for so long, he wouldn’t recognize a normal life if he walked right into one. That’s why he doesn’t realize he already has one when he’s with Creed.

Since Bear’s baby brother went missing fourteen years ago, he’s stopped living. He’s been in the dirt, infiltrating every crime ring imaginable. Until the day he found him dead, nothing mattered but finding Gabe. Now, he only has one goal in life: destroying everyone who let it happen, including himself. He just never expected Creed.

Creed isn’t dumb. He knows when someone isn’t interested. When he met Bear at a local club, Bear’s incessant swinging between hot and cold should have driven Creed away. Creed doesn’t know what it is about Bear. There’s something in his eyes that has Creed constantly flinging himself against the brick wall Bear has built around himself. It’s possible Creed’s persistence will pay off someday and Bear will love him back… or maybe Bear’s nonstop lies and double life will get Creed killed.

Missing is the fourth book in Charity Parkerson’s Kings of the East series where underground crime runs the world. These books are best enjoyed when read in order.

Bear & Creed
Awww, this was a bittersweet one. Many things uncovered, many things resolved. These two men finding each other feels like a blessing.
I'm just happy for their HEA after all the darkness Bear lived through.
Triggers checked, if you think too long about the bad stuff going on in the world you just may lose it too.😟😢😡

🦄🧸No fuzzy toys were harmed during this book (I think?) 🤔

Another kink level unlocked and I didn't see that plot twist coming🙃

⚠️This is a series and you miss a lot of not read in order‼️

Oh, my gosh, the scene where Mink invites Bear and Creed to join him at the restaurant table with Xiv, Alessandro, and Ender, and when asked what he does, Creed saying he is a police officer gets this response: “Everyone at the table went still. All eyes moved Creed’s way before shifting towards Bear.” It was worth reading the book just for this scene and the writing. Kudos to the author’s imagination and deft touch in writing an extremely enjoyable scene. I am writing this review as I read and had to stop again and say that the text messages opening chapter five were awesome and so honest from Creed. I liked Bear’s salty worded response. Bear’s language and interior thoughts throughout the book were thoroughly enjoyed by this reader. I like when an MC who usually dips, finds they can’t up and leave the other MC because there is something compelling that is happening between them. There is so much sexy goodness mixed with honest feelings in many scenes. I like how Creed rides the waves of desire and growing feelings knowing the fall and undertow will be killer, as he knows so little about Bear.
I’m remembering the history between Bear and Ender from the previous book. Tragic. The narrative of the book shifted from romance to darkness. I wanted there to be more scenes of the relationship building in the four months since Bear and Creed met, but the writing was honest, how do you relationship build with a damaged person like Bear? It was a good move of the author to switch the story to the brokenness of Bear. Their falling apart and coming back together was well written and held my interest. Bear’s interior admission that Creed was all he had left was part of a scene with a lot of feels. The ending with the goodbye to Ender was touching and I like the hopeful future for the two MCs. The author did a good job with this book.

Bear’s redemption

Going into this book, I was desperately hoping that Bear would turn out to be more likable then he has been in the previous books. I am so happy he did. Turns out, Bear is just a lost soul looking for someone to ground him. Creed was a nice match for him. He seemed sincere and wasn’t afraid to put his foot down when he was done with Bear’s crap. They seemed to have a pretty good chemistry and Bear didn’t shy away from Creed’s kinks. He was accepting, and that’s what Creed really needed. I enjoyed this couple a lot.

We are introduced to Asia, a friend of Bear’s and I am highly intrigued to see what they are all about. I’m enjoying this series and look forward to what’s next.

This was book 4 in the "Kings of the East" series. This was a book that I didn't think I would like because of the kink that one of the MC had it was weird to me but reading this book I got a really good understanding of Bear. We first met Bear in book 2 he was paid to watch over Mink he was an as*hole to Ender in book 3 and I didn't like him but, in this book, we got to see a different side of him. Bear meets Creed in a kink club although he is not in the lifestyle Bear was watching Ender. Creed was a big soft teddy bear who just wanted to be loved they both get a surprised when Creed pulls over a speeding motorcycle that turns out to be Bear. Creed can't believe that Bear has lied to him. Bear is going through an eternal struggle he doesn't know how to be in a normal relationship he has been around and seen some of the worse criminals in the world. Bear is looking for the person who kidnapped and sold his little brother into the sex trade he has spent his life hunting these people. Bear rescued Ender when he was sent to the slaughter, he was too late to save his brother and he feels guilt about that he also has an unhealthy need to protect Ender who is a paid assassin. While out on a date with Creed they run into Mink who is out with Xiv and Ender and Alessandro when they are invited to join their table where Creed finds out that bear is friends with a mob boss. I also liked what Ender did to Bear when he found out about Ender shooting himself. This was a really good read Bear has to learn to find himself and he has to let Creed in, and Creed has to learn to accept Bear for who he is. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Bear has lived around crime lords for so long that he is not likely to recognise a normal life even though he actually has one with Creed. Since Bear's baby brother Gabe went missing fourteen years ago he stopped living and just focused on finding him, freeing others or eliminating those to use and torture these children. Creed isn't dumb and he knows when someone isn't interested in him and so when he met Bear at a local club with his constant hot and then cold swings he should be driven away. Creed has no idea what it is about Bear but he keeps flinging himself at the brick wall that is Bear. It’s possible Creed’s persistence will pay off someday and Bear will love him back… or maybe Bear’s nonstop lies and double life will get Creed killed.

I really enjoyed this story with the lies, the new information about why Bear did what he does and the various dynamics around there, it is a wonder that Creed didn't run as far as he could. I loved the way that the story ended and the lengths that Bear had to go to in order to sort things out with Creed. Bear's reaction to Ender was impressive especially what happened in the previous book of this series. I loved the way the relationship between Bear and Creed developed and how deep it seemed to be and so fast. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.

Ugh. I was so looking forward to Bear's book. On the one hand, Bear was a complex character that I really liked. On the other, I was literally ready to exit stage left at 6% when I found out Creed's kink. Excuse me, what?? Taxi! Still, because I wanted to read about Bear, I pressed on, kept an open mind, and cringe-skimmed their first sex scene. I didn't think Bear and Creed were a good match per se. Neither of them was wrong. Creed was perfectly justified in his feelings, and Bear was who he was for a very good reason. The insta love thing never felt right. It felt like they hadn't spent enough actual time in each other's presence to be in love. I don't know. They just didn't work for me, and at 80% I no longer cared. Still, I plugged on. Somehow we went from Bear not knowing who he is anymore, or if any of the stuff with Creed was real to him being absolutely sure he loves him. Huh? I know these books are only like 100+ pages, but some of the stuff that's presented just to make the story wrap on schedule, gives me whiplash.

Ender being in so much of this book...sigh. I'm not a fan. I will say that he did bring clarity to his and Bear's issues, and helped me better understand them both. I'm glad they were able to resolve things. Great. Can we leave him out of future books now?

I can already tell I'm going to possibly skip Asia's book because yeah, no.

I didn't like Creed at all, he came off as whiny and melodramatic, he approached Bear because of his bad boy looks, then wanted to change him because he wanted a good boy but kept going back to the club every time Bear "disappointed" him. I don't think he loved Bear, never try to understand Bear side and wanted everything to be all about him, I liked Asia better for someone as complex as Bear.

Bear's story

How does a Criminal seeking kidnappers fall in love with a cop. This was lots of drama between the two MCs. But this book keeps you entertained and lots of fun to read. I look forward to reading the next book in series.
