In the days when powerful witches used their magic to shield humanity from demons, their allies and guardians were a group of men gifted with preternatural abilities of their own–the witch guardians. But when a band of witches traded their humanity for demonic power, the ancient bond was broken, and the guardians became the hunters.

I tried. This is one of those books they were supposed to be good for me. Come on, familiar elements, magic, alpha man, great female character, sexy times…. But it was not for me.

At first I thought I could really get over the fact I wasn’t enjoying the male mc and half of the book is narrated by him. He was just too much and nothing at all for me. He was way too intense without reason. I mean, yes, I know he lusted after the woman but, honestly, his I fuck her or I kill her attitude was

I read this for the Urban Fantasy square for Romance Bingo and it was also my Kindle Freebie selection.

Staring at her, he said, "I'm here for you, Darcy."

Urban fantasy isn't usually a sub-genre I read in and I'm not sure if that was why I had a problem getting into this one or not. It seemed like the world rules were dealt out a bit randomly, making it feel incoherent at times. There were a lot of supernatural beings with earth and demon witches, witch hunters and rogue, and ancest

Series: Apparently

Sexy times: Yes. Definitely not duuurty, more about magical connection

Plan on reading more by the author: While I found the premise interesting, this will be a no based on execution.

Darcy's a witch who doesn't know she's a witch and Axel is cursed to want/kill her. Real possibilities here, right? Well, whatever. I'm still pissed abo

4 - ”I’m trying a new look called kidnapped and pissed.” Stars!

Jennifer Lyon isn’t a new author to me, I have read and really enjoyed some of her contemporary /erotic romances in the past. But Blood Magic was my first foray into her PNR offerings.

I am all for a sassy heroine and Darcy hit the tone perfectly for me. Vulnerable and determined make for a good mix when you take into account the woman has just discovered she’s a witch, and been taken prisoner by the and oh, so sexy Wing Slayer Hunter

Firstly I would like to say that turning down an unfamiliar path, this was a different reading practise for me seeing as it was my first kindle book using kindle app! I don’t think anything can beat the physicality of holding a book and feeling its substantial weight, making the read along with the characters feel far more palpable and accessible. I did miss that element a lot because reading off of a screen tends to reduce my indulgence, making me feel detached and reaching for

I didn’t like the causes of conflict. Some parts were a little slow, too much thinking not enough action.

Some witches wanted more power and linked with demons to get it. They became demon witches. Demon witches harmed humans, so wing slayers were created to kill the demon witches. Thirty years ago, a few demon witches cursed regular witches and wing slayers. The result was that regular witches’ powers were reduced because they could not have familiars (their animal helpers). Also, wi

Most important question is how can I get my hands on the next one? Ms. Lyon an ARC please.

I wasn't sure about this book but once I got into it and realised that halfway through this book, I've already read something by this author I was throughly enjoing it. 3.5 Witch and Witch Hunter Stars.

Thirty years ago, witches and witch hunters were cursed alike due to the demon witches. There souls were ripped out but they managed to gain them back but they weren't originally the souls

I struggled hard with just how to rate "Blood Magic" by Jennifer Lyon. On the plus side, she managed to come up with a new twist on witches using a fusion of mythology, lore, and witchcraft. On the minus side, the writing wasn't as tight as I like and the story seemed to 'hop and jump' for me. So I decided to round up in the hope that the next in this series, which I DO intend to read, will sharpen and smooth out some of the rough edges I found here.

Darcy has just buried her adoptive mother when
**5 Witches, and Hunters, and Deamons, Oh My! Stars!!**

I loved it!! This is the kind of PNR story I love. It was sensual and passionate. Laced with danger and mystery. The world building Jennifer Lyon has created is addictive.

Darcy and Axel have off the charts chemistry. They are both strong and have unique powers all on their own, but together they are even more powerful. Darcy is smart and passionate. Axel is intense, but so sweet and protective. I loved how he interacted with Hannah (his lit

Blood Magic by Jennifer Lyon is the first book in a new Paranormal Romance series. This series has good earth witches, bad demon witches and Wing Slayers. Wing Slayers all start out as witch hunters (not a good name) who protect good witches, but if they kill any witch they turn rogue. A curse has messed up the purpose of all the characters, but Axel and Darcy are the H/h, who can break the curse and help the other earth witches and Wing Slayers find their soul mirrors. Does this not sound like ...more

Wow I really liked this book. Cant wait to get my hands on the next one. All the side characters were wonderful. Cant wait to read about them.

So this is about Axel a wing slayer hunter.Axel needs a witch to help save his little sister. Yeah he goes about it in a bad way. But things worked out.Poor Darcy is just confused about why Axel needs her and Axel doesn't really believe anything she says. Man is he hot! At first he had that asshole vibe going on. I mean he was by the end still bossy and p

What the...? My main hang up about this book was that the hero and his merry band of knife wielding warriors is that they were complacent about rogues killing ALL witches! Not only demon ones but the good ones too. The hero has witnessed his father killing witches when he was 14 and hasn't done a thing to stop him! Plus the fact his father is a threat to his own family. I just can't get past that, they were hanging onto their souls by doing nothing. They even allowed rogues into their nightclub! ...more

Review closer to release date.

I have read many books by Jennifer Lyon, this is the first paranormal that I have read by her. It definitely was a different take on the Witch Hunter story, I liked it. There were parts that were a bit slow but since it's the first it goes into more detail of the characters.Looking forward to the next.

Some things were really good, others not so much.

I would recommend this read though. It's a decent intro to this series.

"I love you, Axel! Please, please, you have to believe I wouldn't do anything to hurt you." - Darcy McAllister

Oh, wow, what did I just read?! I'm a fan of PNR and witches and stuff, but this went well beyond my expectations!

Darcy McAllister thought her childhood was tough. With everyone around her - her own adoptive father included - fearing her and calling her the spawn of evil, a freak, she believed this was as ugly as it could get. But she was dead wrong. Hunters are after her - witch hunters

So, we get Darcy and Axel (and every time I read "Axel" I pictured Axel Rose or Eddie Murphy in Bev. Hills Cop, but anyway...). Darcy is an earth witch and Axel is a cursed witch hunter. Totally forumlaic in nature - they are cursed, can't be together, have wicked sex and can't keep their hands off each other afterwards and call that love, big battle, one rejects the other and then the paranormal causes them to see they are destined to be together forever. I'd say that is a spoiler, except if yo ...more

...So, what did I like about it?
I haven’t read any of Ms Lyon’s books before and I found her writing style engaging, energetic and erotic (oh! What’s with all the “e” adjectives! Lol!). She has built a complex world of gods, demons, witches (earth base and demon bound) and witch hunters (some of who are rogue but all of who are cursed) with an interesting history and I’m intrigued to see where she’ll take us.

Recommends it for: fans of romance series with a band of warriors

I wasn't sure how to rate this book, so I settled for 2 stars in the sense "it was an OK read, but nothing special". The author takes a lot of time to actually explain the rules of her universe, and it was really confusing at times. There was at least one sex scene too many, taking space that could have been used to further flesh out the characters, or the universe.

The way things went, I couldn't tell you much about the characters beyond the superficial - any of them,

With a great cast of characters and an interesting storyline, BLOOD MAGIC was a fast paced read that was easy to enjoy from front to back.

Darcy has always felt different and the night she's attacked she finds out why. She has a really hard time believing that she is a witch, but she can't deny it for long. She doesn't appreciate being kidnapped, but she wants to help Axel's little sister and she also wants to learn what she can really do. I thought she was a pretty strong individual considering

4 Stars...I really liked it!

"Blood Magic" bounced around in rank like a ping pong ball and finally landed on a 4 Star.

I really enjoyed this book, and I hope I continue to enjoy this series. I could tell that this might have been one of Lyon's first books because there were times when I'm not sure if the story had a "for sure" place...but by the middle and the end I found myself really connected to this group of Hunters.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book was the absolute perfect blend of paranormal fanasty and steamy romance. It has just the right amounts of magic, darkness and heat to make it a winning trifecta.

The author really made this novel stand out against the crowd of all these junk paranormal romances that are flooding this genre. It wasn't just a skeevy porno with paranormal characters - She made sure to actually have an intense storyline with

Disappointed. I wanted to like this, but this was so unoriginal and silly.
Throw in a lot of sex and some totally stupid drama.
The story reminded me very strongly of Diane Duvall's immortal series.
This has less character and more sexy times.
Didn't help a lot.
I could rant for half an hour what put me off, but really, it just wasn't good and I had to fight to finish it. I skimmed the big showdown in the end...says all.

Loved! Lyon writes great heros: tough, sexy, loyal. Wonderful read - can't wait for the next one!
This is the first book I've read by this author and I found it ok to read, maybe a little slow at times as being book 1 there is a bit of world building. Why the three stars, well I'm really not a big 'witch story' fan (tried a few but they never seem to hold my interest, I think the whole spell stuff bores me), but it was a freebie and I wanted something different so why not. The synopsis sounded unique and the price was right!
I had a few issues with the curse, seemed like the hunters had it wo

Time is running out for Axel to save his sister and he might be forced to do something drastic in order to save her. Darci is a witch who doesn't know what she was born as. They have a connection but there are a LOT of people who opposed their union and want to kill Darci. Its an engaging story with a good plot. I enjoyed this read :)
