This is a nice basic book of quilt patterns, most of which are fairly traditional and fun. Definitely best suited for experienced quilters, it offers full color photos of each quilt and full color patterns.

I read an ARC of this book via Net Galley.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this collection of quilt patterns! As I was reading, I was like oh, I love this one, it's my fav!... then turn the page and oooh, this one is my fav!

Bottom line: This book is full of beautiful colorful quilt patterns for different holidays and seasons. I especially loved the Christmas season ones. I believe this book's photos are very inspiring as a crafter, and though I'm not very experienced in quilting, I think I could make most of them with the information provided.

Classic & Colorful Patchwork and Applique Quilt Patterns is clearly labeled with a contents page detailing each of the 24 patterns. Then each quilt pattern section includes a list of necessary supplies along with the pattern itself. Each quilt section has plenty of photos and step by step directions.

I'd label the patterns as "easy or uncomplicated"- perfect for all quilters, no matter their experience.
As an extra, in the back of the book, general instructions on quilting are included- basting, quilting, appliquéing, etc.

I would love to add this book to my collection. Also would make a great gift to your quilter friends/family members.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

As a long term fan of Jim Shore's sculptures, I was happy to see a book featuring his patterns. Applique is not my preferred quilting technique, and I was pleased to see that many of the designs incorporated little to no applique. The patterns are well suited to a experienced beginner and will appeal to those who like more traditional quilts. The illustrations are charming, and the book can be enjoyed based on its appearance alone.

Originally posted on my blog: Nonstop Reader.

Classic & Colorful Patchwork and Appliqué Quilt Patterns is a colorful and accessible quilting tutorial guide by Jim & Jan Shore. Originally published (as Jim & Jan Shore’s Passion for Quilts ) in 2009, this reformat and re-release is due out 28th March 2022 from Fox Chapel on their Landauer imprint. It's 184 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

This is a collection of 24 quilt designs, accompanied by tutorials for each of the projects. The designs are appealing and beautiful and the suggested colors are classic and also allow wide range for individual artistic expression. The patterns are a wide range of difficulties and many of them are perfectly suitable as a beginner learning project. There are some few which will challenge even experienced quilters.

All the tutorials are well written and include lots of process and finished photos, a bullet list of tools and supplies (measurements are in US standard measurements), and step-by-step instructions. Tutorial photos are clear and in color and are taken without hands or other distractions in the way. Line drawings and schematics are also in color and high contrast and easy to understand. Extra photos of props, ornaments, and settings provide whimsy and coordinating decorating ideas.

According to the publishing information, the full size templates are included with the book. They were not included in the early eARC provided for review purposes. I assume they will be included in the retail version, but it might be prudent to check.

Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

I requested and enjoyed a digital copy of this book by way of Netgalley.
It is best appreciated in a print version.
This is not the sort of book that can be best reviewed b a casual read-through. One must be hands on and follow the thorough directions with fabric to get the full appreciation and value.

The illustrations and hand drawn depictions of the offered quilt patterns are wonderful.
I liked the snippets of added information and inspiration by authors Jim and Jan Shore.
I like the pairing of traditional and extra new twists and various options for each quilt to suit an artist's or crafter's skill level.

I will be attempting a few of the simpler quilts or fabric crafts myself.

Jim and Jan Shore's "Classic & Colorful Patchwork and Applique Quilt Patterns" has twenty-four quilt patterns with step by step instructions and pictures showing the steps along the way. Full size templates are also included where needed. Each quilt includes the inspiration Jim Shore art pieces that inspired the quilts. These figurines have a quilted look to them and are stunning. These patterns are all unique, they are not an older quilt that is in different colors, with names to match. General quilting instructions and an index are also included. This is an inspiring book with lots of great new quilt ideas.

This book first caught my attention because it was a book by Jim & Jan Shore. Their figurines are amazing. When I realized it was a quilt book, I had to check it out. The patterns have full sized templates and good instructions on how to make the quilts. There's also a little story that goes along with each pattern. I was given this book to preview by the publisher that I downloaded to my Kindle. I liked it so well I showed it to my boss, (I work at a quilting store) and she immediately ordered some. I will be getting the paper version of this.

I was given this book by the publisher via NetGalley in an exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

I have been interested in learning how to applique. I am also a fan of Jim Shore. So I thought the two together would be a win win. There are some pretty quilt patterns included and the Jim Shore ornaments and or figurines that go with the pattern. Some of the figurines have quilts on them. The quilt patterns are all different degrees of difficulty, and a variety of sizes. There are seasonal quilts.
Very detailed instructions to assemble the quilts. There are diagrams of how they are put together for each quilt.
It is a nice addition for quilters that enjoy Jim Shore.

Well written quilt book with 24 quilts and a section on General Quilting Instructions. I enjoyed the blurbs on how each quilt was designed. The directions were clear and precise, along with great pictures. Some of my favorites were the Give Thanks Wallhanging, Stars and Stripes Forever (this was really beautiful), and A Light in the Storm which uses a panel.

My review is voluntary and all comments and opinions expressed are

This book is lovely, the designs are simple and classical and very effective. The Instructions are easy to follow and very well photographed. The patterns are easy to make and the colour combination used in this book are beautiful and the quilts re very classical.
I certainly intend to make at least one quilt in this book if not more - and I like modern quilts - these book really brings out the true classical designs without the old fashion look. I really love this book

A book of quilt designs and instructions. They're pretty enough, but nothing special. And it does not contain full-size templates of the designs. This isn't too big a flaw for the patchwork quilts, but it is definitely a problem for the applique.
