A trip to Washington, D.C. turns into a perilous scramble through dark alleys and secret passages as Jake, Lucy, and TJ race to find the lost letters of Mary Lincoln before they fall into the hands of the Order of the Dark Lantern. What makes these letters so valuable to the Lantern? And how did the White House fall under control of this dark and powerful group? Another fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping thriller with all of the action, humor, and historical trivia that makes the the Jake and the League Series such a riveting adventure. The League and the Letters (Book 3 in the series) is a worthy successor to the acclaimed The League and the Lantern (Book 1) and The League and the Legend (Book 2).
A great final installment to the trilogy. The trio of kids are back for another fast-paced adventure. Full of action and clever banter, it’s perfect for middle grade readers. Love the history woven throughout and the mental map of DC painted as the characters race back and forth. Fun, entertaining and smart.
I started this series quite a few years ago and absolutely loved it!!! I just saw that Brian Wells wrote a third book and I had to read it! Didn’t disappoint! :)
Jake, TJ and Lucy are once again battling The Lantern in this third book of this middle school adventure series. With crafty, seemingly unstoppable villains, secret passages and codes, this book will draw even a reluctant reader into this nonstop ride to protect the president and save the United States and their plan of world domination.
Historical facts are woven seamlessly throughout the book as the villain stopping trio read the famous words of Abraham Lincoln and tour Washington DC looking for clues. I enjoyed reading this action-packed book. No cussing, a respect for authority, a love for justice, and the fast pace that is set throughout this book, it is easy to recommend this book.
Thank you to the author for an advanced reader copy of the book. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
