When one night of passion in Rio de Janeiro leads to a life-changing consequence, find out what the surgeon does next in the latest Harlequin Medical Romance novel from Luana DaRosa.
An impulsive night of passion… A life-changing consequence!
The night surgeon Eliana Oliveira met Diego Ferrari, he was just a handsome stranger in a bar in Rio de Janeiro. And acting on their instant attraction was the perfect escape from the shock of inheriting a whole hospital from her estranged late father. Now, on her first day at Santa Valeria General, she’s in for two shocking first, coming face-to-face with Diego in the operating room, and second, that she’s expecting his baby!
From Harlequin Life and love in the world of modern medicine.
I liked the characters and enjoyed the story up until about 80%. This is a character driven story and i enjoyed the family dynamics and hearing about the lives of many of the people.
The 3rd act break-up just didn't make any sense at all though and this is where I struggled. It was so manufactured and blown out of proportion. Initially they have an argument and accusations are made, but then they apologize and although it was a weak disagreement in the first place, as a reader I went along with it. But then it goes completely left from there. They are both surgeon's and the hero is performing an operation that takes a disastrous turn that causes him to be there much longer than anyone could have foreseen. As a result he ends up missing the first ultrasound and the heroine accuses him of not putting their baby first, knowing full well about the patient who just died on the table in what was supposed to be a very routine surgery.
The accusations only get more ridiculous and I was just in awe of how different the book ended from how it began. Up to the 80% mark I would have rated this 4 stars. After that point it went to 2 stars.
This was my first book by this author and I really liked the writing, enough to try her again. Hopefully the ending in this book was a one-off.
