This book has the one of the best case studies published post 9/11 - that of Jeffrey Greenberg MMC. Also useful background on personal resilience - which links to crisis leadership. Nice summary - resilient people have 3 characteristics: acceptance of reality, a deep belief , often buttressed by strongly held values, that life is meaningful; and the uncanny ability to improvise. Recommended reading for the crisis management practioner.
