Many people have put together retirement savings plans so they can financially do the activities they have dreamed about throughout their lives. Oftentimes, these activities typically require apt physical abilities – like traveling, golfing, playing with grandchildren, and experiencing the wonders of the world. Sadly, many people retire and despite their financial stability, they are physically unable to effectively take advantage of those dreams. In "No Rocking Chairs", author Michael Kwast shares many of the misconceptions and misunderstandings that prevent you from being your best and having the best quality of life possible. Too many people have regrets, but you never hear a retired person say, "I regret taking good of care of myself". In fact, typically you hear retired men and women say that they wished they would have done more to preserve their mobility so they can play golf, play with grandkids, travel, and live their retirement dreams. Don't have any regrets. Take your life and health into your own hands! Kwast is a chiropractor so he has a fair amount of emphasis on going to chiropractors, not once and not when you have injury but rather often and early so get control of your muscles, able to be mobile through life, especially when retired. He does emphasize that people plan their finances for retirement but ignore their physical readiness for retirement. Kwast ends this short book with the following recommendations:
Find a chiropractor that will measure your ranges of motion, perform orthopaedic testing, perform functional movement testing and keep you informed of your inabilities.
Do a sleep study if you are not getting effective sleep
Get screenings including ultrasound your arteries, EKG for your heart, check blood work
Continue with multivitamins
Eat healthy - Don’t eat too much sugar, processed foods, too many carbs. Emphasize foods as found in nature - fruits, vegetables, fish,
Get outside and get some sunshine. Sunlight helps with melatonin levels which helps regulate sleep and moods and allows your body to make vitamin D.
Start exercising and stretching with goal to be able to move so include functional movements including up and down the stairs 20x/day, get up off the floor 20x,
Squat down on your heels 20x, crawl on the carpet and get up 20x, do pull-ups.
Start balance therapy proactively. Practice standing on one leg, then one leg with eyes closed.

Goal: Implement your retirement plan financially and physically. Live your best quality of life by staying active and mobile.
so No rocking chair for you.
