STORY:
WHAT I LIKED:
I found myself enjoying book 2. I was still invested in the plot/mystery as well as Caspian and Willow. As the story continues, Caspian is becoming more obsess and possessive over Willow. The need to protect and have her was good to read. I thought the build up of the mystery was good and it didn’t feel drawn out. Who it was, that person would have been last on the list of suspects.
WHAT WAS SO SO:
Still did not really have any issues. Although I have to note, this was a college theme story, but it really was not giving me college vibes. You do get the sense that Caspian and Willow are young and felt more secret society than mafia at times. But these were minor for me.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY
I always enjoy the sex scenes between Caspian and Willow. Caspian is nasty and dirty and I mean that in a good way. When he takes Willow, you can tell he wants her and I love that about him.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
Lucian and Eilish, not sure how I feel with their own story. This should be interesting. Everyone else who had a part brought it to life.
OVERALL:
Was I entertained? Yes.
Did I like the story? Yes.
Would I read the other books in the series? Yes.
TRIGGERS: Violence, drug addiction and drug use.

Plot Summary :
Willow knew what she was signing up for when she fell for her enemy. The one boy who was once her friend, turned into her enemy and bully and then her lover finally. Caspian. But he showed his true colors by betraying her in the end. By destroying her and showcasing her demons for everyone to see. He took the one thing she wanted so bad and that was her freedom. There was no happy ending for them, just a path caved with pain and misery.
Caspian had no choice. He had to do what he did to save the one girl he loved. The one he would do anything for. It was what he did for them both dying, so he did it. He ruined her. Destroyed her. And now the next step was marrying her no matter how much she resists. She was his and he does not give up. He will make her forgive him , make her see reason because there is not one person he will let stand between their happy ending that they both deserve.
Overall Opinion :
I have been waiting for this conclusion since forever!! That ending of book one of this duet had me shook and I wanted to see so much of that groveling and angst. I have been reading this author's books like crazy for a long time because of two reasons, the first one being her killer plot twists and the second one being her intense heroes. The intensity and chemistry is off the charts hot and so addictive! I can't have enough of it.
Caspian and Willow have a tale which will make you cry and scream but you will enjoy every single word of it like me. This one is a HEA duet with dark themes like murder , enemies to lovers and mystery! Definitely recommending this duet to all the mafia romance loving people. It's with a younger pair of characters than we usually see in an arranged marriage book but it's good nonetheless.

Cruel Promises gives us the much anticipated conclusion to the Cruel Secrets duet- and Faith Summers drives straight back into this mafia, new adult/bully arrangement marriage story with a bang. It’s soapy and dramatic and full of twists- just like I’ve come to expect from this author and her intense stories.
There is just so much promise to this story- and it certainly was entertaining. From the volatile relationships of our leading characters, all the action and drama relating to their family secrets and past pains, the dynamic ensemble secondary cast, and all the emotional turmoil and intensity- well, it’s a great combination for an addictive storyline. But, at times this story didn’t quite deliver for me- this conclusion felt rushed in places, with key elements glossed over, and at times things felt overly drawn out- there’s just a lot going on, and with a bit of a tighter focus this would have been a slam dunk for me. That said, I still enjoyed the read- and there’s plenty of that aggressive, dark and dubious dynamic between our main characters that kept me invested. Certainly looking forward to more from this author.

Just couldn't get into it

Can't really put my finger on it, but I just had a really difficult time with this duet. I've been a longtime fan of Faith Summers, but just couldn't get into it. The writing seemed a little off and it came across way too YA. There were tons of twists and turns in the story, but almost to the point of too much going on. Ill definitely be reading her again, but this one was just not for me.

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars! Mafia duet complete. Very addictive read. The intrigue and mystery was well done. A definite recommendation. If you like NA mafia/Bratva romance.

This book was rushed and poorly edited!
I can only say that the author was in a hurry to finish this book. What could have been a good book with a good conclusion of the two-book story was diminished by the extreme amount of incomplete sentences, incorrect words, missing words, incorrect/incomplete spelling of words and more. I thought several times while reading that there was no reason this needed to be in a two-book format except to get more money. My opinion is that the story would have been better told in one book, properly edited showing some pride in the telling and publishing of the story. I read several books a week and have never read a book with so many grammatical errors. I’m sorry I spent money on this book. I won’t do that again.

I really enjoyed reading Caspian‘s and Willow’s love story. Watching Caspian transform from this hard and cold person to someone who loved cherished and wanted to protect Willow at all cost was amazing. I also really liked how Lucian and Eilish got to see Caspian for who he really is on the inside.

This is the second book in the duet and they should be read in order. This read begins where the last book ended. Willow discovers the truth and discovers that Caspian may not be the bad guy after all. Will he be able to keep her safe and she fall for him? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and action. Great characters with intense chemistry and a dark mafia read. Entertaining story. I liked it.

Maybe I’m so used to this type of stories so I could guess what the twist was. Since book 1 I’ve always had a thick suspicion about the h’s godparents. And I was right. It was an okay read but I found it a bit tiring after awhile so the stars are not as many as the previous book. But I enjoyed it still.

The conclusion to the Cruel Secrets duet is finally here. I have been waiting since December to find out all the secrets buried in this book. Faith has done a fantastic job finishing the story we get to see Caspian soften towards Willow and work out what they have. We get answers to all the questions left burning in our heads from book 1 and I have to say it was a satisfying ending. It was worth the wait.
I did have some moments of disappointment. There were parts of the build-up to the conclusion that was a little unnecessary I thought and other parts were glossed over too much. The very end of the book where all the action always happens and the answers are given felt a little rushed and over too fast. Honestly, I think Caspian's father deserved worse too. It felt in the end he really got away with everything he did. But all in all, I was happy with the book and glad to have a conclusion to the series.
If dark romance, mafia, drama, and suspense are tropes you love then you'll enjoy this duet. It had plenty of it and a nice dabbling of spice to round it out. Caspian and Willow were certainly hot when they ignited.
Willow's life is in more danger than Caspian first thought and he comes very close to losing her forever, despite that he saved her she can't get over the betrayal of him sharing her secret with his father. She might be alive but if Caspian's father can get his way she will never live. She'll be locked away never to see the light again.
Caspian is running out of choices, the answers aren't getting any clearer if anything he has more questions. His father is tugging hard on his leash and if he doesn't figure out how to get some leverage over him and soon, he and Willow could both meet their end.
As pieces slowly drop into place and lies start to unravel the pair find their way to each other and to the answers they both crave. It won't be as simple as first thought though the answers are enough to break them. It will come down to life and death and when all is said and done if they survive they still must break free from Caspian's father.
"This is beautiful." "You're beautiful." She cups my face. "I love you." "I love you too." We fall into a kiss that speaks of forever. The angel should never allow the devil to taint her, but this is what happens the devil falls in love. He love's fiercely and protects the angel with his life.'

This is the 2nd story in the Cruel Secrets Duet. We know in the 1st story Willow withheld a big secret from her childhood best friend, Caspian that create his hatefulness of her from age 8 until they are together at College. Caspian is warned by his father to stay away from Willow but their undeniable connection and love for each brings them together even when they are not ready to accept. With passing of their loves ones, her parents and sister, Lillian and Caspian’s mom and brother, Zak they have a common goal to find out the truth of secrets long ago and Caspian’s number one goal is to keep Willow safe from St Jude’s and all the death attempts on her. Caspian’s father has never gotten over the deceit and betrayal of Willow’s father with his wife and holds Willow responsible and makes her life one horrible event after another with the goal to owning her family’s business, wealth, her body and mind. Caspian makes a death oath with his father so Caspian can marry Willow but he doesn’t take into account how his father bends all the rules and agreement to his benefit. While Thorne and Caspian continue to dig up the past secrets to save Willow they uncover betrayal of loved ones and those who should protect are only out for themselves. Willow knows she can not go back to St. Jude’s and has a breakdown when it becomes a reality. Caspian may be a monster but he is Willows monster that knows how to protect and learns to love her unconditionally as his wife. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Cruel Promises is the conclusion to Caspian and Willow’s story. Cruel Lies must be read first. This story completely blew me away. And, everything I thought I knew was completely blown apart. The plot twists, the truth bombs, the storyline, the raw emotion owned me from the first word to the last. This one is for fated mates, the complete surrender that comes with that kind of love, and the epic all consuming feelings that accompany that love. Caspian is no holds back in his attempt to own all of Willow’s feelings and body.
Cruel Promises picks up where Cruel Lies left us. Caspian coming to Willow’s rescue after being poisoned and dumped off the bridge.
Willow recovers slowly, prepares for their wedding, fights her feelings for Caspian and the obvious threat to her life.
Caspian is determined to right the wrong of betraying Willow to his father and figure out who the players are. The answers cannot come fast enough. And, as each question has its answer, another one pops up in its place, digging the rabbit hole deeper.
Along the way Caspian will realize the love he felt for Willow was what saved him years ago and although buried amongst his feelings of betrayal are the only truth he knows with absolute certainty.
They will find help in the most Unexpected places and the plot that is decades old, filled with deep betrayals, and some of the most shocking reveals.

Assim como o primeiro livro, a continuação foi maravilhosa, esse meu primeiro contato com a autora foi o melhor possível, pois têm um romance bem trabalhado com um casal com uma ótima química, e uma trama pararela de mistério envolvente e bem explicada, sendo esse último aspecto o que mais me chamou a atenção, pois era tanta informação e ponta solta que confesso que fiquei com medo de não termos explicações de todas essas coisas, mas tivemos sim, e bem detalhados, coisas que eu sinto falta nos também contemporâneos da Rina Kent (desculpe, impossível não fazer o comparativo, ambas têm estilo semelhantes e estou lendo o livro delas na mesma época). Por mais que eu já desconfiasse quem fosse o grande vilão por trás de tudo isso, não deixou de ser impactante, só queria que o vilão tivesse sofrido mais, e confesso que fiquei com um certo dó do “segundo vilão”, mas omissão foi tão prejudicial quanto aos atos em si. Eu também queria que o pai do Caspian sofresse bastante, desde o primeiro livro estou com um ódio daquele velho arrogante, coitado do Caspian, porém mesmo com esses impasses ainda mantenho a nota e o favorito por que no geral e trama foi muito boa e romance entre Caspian e Willow se manteve com muita química e tensão mesmo tendo dois livros dele, então o casal têm que ser bom para manter as coisas.
Agora só fico na espera que a autora escreva livros para o casal de melhores amigos da Willow (o Lucien e a Eilish) e para o primo do Caspian, o Thorne.

What a great ending to this duet. All the lies, deception, betrayal and secrets will have your emotions all over the place. One minute you are rooting for Caspian and then the next you get mad at him for the way he treats Willow. While Caspian is trying to save Willow from going back to St. Judes and trying to figure out who killed his brother, someone is stalking Willow and trying to kill her.
Willow is besides herself trying to figure out who she can trust and who she can’t. She wants to trust Caspian, but of course, Becky always puts doubts into Willow’s head about her being enough for Caspian. And Caspian does nothing to reassure Willow just how he feels about her.
When the secrets start coming out, will Willow and Caspian be able to survive the aftermath? Will they be able to find out the truth about what happened to their parents, and their siblings? I had a very hard time putting this book down and stayed up a little later than I should have to finish this and find out what happened! I am looking forward to reading Lucian and Eilish’s story.

Wow, what an ending to this duet. Secrets, lies, betrayal, and tragedy with an unpredictable unveiling.
Caspian and Willow have had to overcome a lot to regain their trust of each other as well as find their way back to each other. Caspian holds a grudge for a long time, but when he finally lets his anger and resentment go, their lives can be so much more.
Willow’s life is in danger at every turn and in order for her to survive, she’ll have to trust Caspian can keep her safe and protect her, but they’re going to have to uncover a betrayal that was put into the making many years ago. Then they will have to fight for their lives.
I really loved this conclusion of the Cruel Secrets Duet. It was action packed with danger, betrayal, lies, secrets and too much tragedy to imagine. With an unpredictable outcome it was a great read. I loved the characters and the story. I would love to read a book with Lucian and Eilish. I think they need a story as well. I give this story a 5-star review.

For me, Cruel Promises, scratch that Cruel Secrets Duet deserves 10 million stars. I know I sound corny but this story had everything I could hope for in a book and more;

🔥A charismatic, possessive and courageous hero who has been terrorized when he was a kid. He has a hate/love relationship with his childhood love
🔥Russian Bratva with secret society trials and rules

🔥An extremely satisfying chemistry between the hero and the heroine that will obliterate your kindle along with your panties
🔥A happily ever after that will have you swooning for days
Need I say more? This duet will keep you guessing right until the end. If you haven’t started the duet, I strongly advice you to do so. You will NOT regret it.

If you have read Cruel Lies then you absolutely have to read Cruel Promises . Besides being the second part to Willow and Caspin’s Duet , it’s one of the best Dark New Adult college romances I have read in a very long while . so I literally just finished a few hours ago my mind is still. Reeling, what a story , so full of loss , trauma , vengeance, forgiveness, intrigue, angst , heartbreak, love , second chances , and many twists and turns you will nor be expecting. I have decided not to give any details away for the reason that when I go into a story I prefer going in with a open mind , allowing me to fully appreciate how amazing the book truly is . I will say this though , be prepared to become completely hooked . Once I started reading I seriously could not put it down , i was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book , a story that was a emotional rollercoaster. I cannot recommend it highly enough ❤️🖤💜

Entertaining and interesting but predictable
Predictable but entertaining and interesting. It has all the elements you look for in a book: villains you love to hate, suspense, a shoot out/fight or ten and a love story.
I found the hatred for Willow misguided by both the hero and his dad. Therefore, they were indeed strange characters with psychopathic tendencies. It wasn't that dark of a read, for which I am glad. I love strong female leads and despise weaklings. Willow was not quite either. She did verge on stupidity a few times.
I wasn't in love with any of the characters. They were okay. They were enough so that I for one rooted for them. Would I recommend? Sure why not. Wouldn't call my friends who read and say "you must read this". But if you get the book for free on Kindle and want to past the time ..I definitely say go for it! I don't believe you would hate it!

Heart breaking and Dark with Light
I sat down to read this book and end of finishing in one day. Since the beginning Willow and Caspian had their cards duet with lies and betrayal. Their parent were close and emerge both of their company's together but his mom was having an affair with her dad since they meet in college and his mom was engaged to another man. Moving forward Willow and Caspian were best friends but everything changed when Willow lost her whole family and Caspian lost his mom. She told him that she new their parents were having an affair and he did not want anything to do with her. During the time they were apart he got kidnapped and became a different person. Years passed and saw each other in college he was a big bully to her and treated her so bad because he wants revenge for his mom. So when she turned a certain age you will have both companies but their are people willing to kill her for them.

"The conclusion to Caspian and Willow's story. You definitely need to read Cruel Lies first, so if you haven't, start there first, it is more than worth the read, then you can grab this one and feed the addiction.
Cruel Promises picks up where Cruel Lies leaves off. Still plenty of suspense, intrigue, chaos, secrets, and more and more mysteries to unravel the deeper we dive into the story. I will say, that my instinct was right about one thing and so far off about another... but the way the story is spun, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and you have to keep reading until you get all the answers we've been looking for since the first book!

Cruel promises (Cruel secrets duet 2)
This is the second and final part in this duet by this author. This is the continued story of Willow and Caspian, these two characters have the same intense chemistry as the first book. This book is filled with drama, suspense, action and lots of hot chemistry. This is a dark mafia romance read, that will have you hooked from the first page till the very last one. This is an amazing duet from this talented author. I can’t wait to read more from this author in the future.

I have to say, I am a total fan of both of the Cruel Secrets releases and am completely impressed with Ms. Faith Summers (aka Khardine Gray) work.
While the first installment left the reader in suspense, this one delivered tenfold (in my opinion). To me, Cruel Promises is the type of dramatic and suspenseful romance that you can't wait to read, but don't want to end. What a wonderful conclusion to the mysterious Raventhorn legacy.
Caspian has always been fated to be with Willow, however, with so much animosity and secrets, can they ever heal and find their own happily ever after? Discover what transpires when love conquers all.
I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Cruel Promises, from The Bad Boy Update, in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion and I couldn't recommend reading these releases more.

The conclusion to this amazing series hooks you from beginning to end with suspense, intrigue, mystery, steamy hot scenes, secrets, lies, angst, twists such an addicting read to the end.
Caspian & Willow once BF'S until she betrays him keeping a secret that turns him against her, bullying her, then becoming lovers only for him to destroy her.
Caspian forces Willow to marry him his only way to protect her from their enemies she'll hate him but hopefully she'll forgive him in the end he'll do everything in his power to protect her hopefully that'll get a HEA.
I definitely recommend to get this very well written DUET so well worth the read I loved the chemistry between Caspian & Willow you couldn't put down until finished a must read for sure.

This book picks up where that stunning cliffhanger in Cruel Lies left off.
The plot and storyline still just as intense.
Still gripping and utterly captivating.
Ms. Summers writing style is perfection.
It had me holding my breath and my heart roaring.
The twists and turns are freaking mind boggling!
I fell more in love with Caspian than I already was.
And Willow has a piece of my heart.
The lies going on and the secrets being kept are nerve racking.
The suspense and drama are thrilling.
Usually for me book 2 of a duet isn’t as impactful as bk1.
But that is absolutely not the case here!
Everything was just as dynamic and explosive and the previous book.
With some holy amazeballs I did not see that coming moments.
I’m so freaking thrilled and excited to have discovered Ms. Summers.
I will definitely be reading more of her books!

Voordat je dit boek leest, moet je het eerste deel van dit duet hebben gelezen, anders snap je niets van het verhaal. Caspian en Willow waren beste vrienden vanaf dat ze kleuters waren, maar toen gebeurde er iets waardoor er een breuk ontstond.Nu zijn ze weer samen op een bijzondere manier. Ondanks alles dat er gebeurd is, kunnen ze op de ander vertrouwen. Helemaal omdat Caspian letterlijk haar leven heeft gered en dit altijd zal blijven doen. Dat laatste is nodig omdat er meerdere pogingen zijn gedaan om Willow te vermoorden en die stoppen in dit boek ook niet.
Een spannende dark romance, met vijanden op hoge plaatsen. Vijanden waarvan ze de identiteit zoeken voordat het te laat is. Zelfs vrienden zijn in gevaar en kunnen ze wel iedereen vertrouwen? Naar het einde toe kwamen er een aantal onthullingen, waarvan ik er een paar begon te vermoeden, maar anderen een verrassing waren.

Rushed and stunted
The book started off slow. And while I could see some of it, it wasn’t all necessary. Also, still annoying was the lack of argument about Willow’s feelings about Lillian. A realistic argument was served up but it was ignored. Then at about the 75% mark, the whole plot goes into overdrive. Once again, the main characters show signs of complete stupidity. You don’t overhear a sketchy argument then go running to that person with dangerous information. Additionally, the way Alexander was dealt with was unsatisfactory. And because the story mostly takes place in the last 25% of the book it was extremely rushed. And the ending was also stunted and unsatisfactory.

The completion of the dark romance between Caspian & Willow. There are a few surprises, twists & turns in this 2nd book that will have you overwhelmed in deciding what will happen next! As for Caspian & Willow, their own dark past will be answered; their healing & closure process can begin once the secrets are revealed. Book 1, "Cruel Lies" needs to be read before reading this one. Then you can really be absorbed into their hot chemistry between them, their pain & suffering they go through & the meaning of true love when they first met as kids. There is so much more to this mafia story that you'll have to read it in order to understand the background & deception that goes on behind the scenes.
