This was a likeable story but not my favorite from this author. I really liked the set up but it wasn't satisfying, and had a rush ending and not as engaging as some of her other books have been for me. But it was still enjoyable and offered a good distraction which is what I was looking for.

My Thoughts
This is a sweet story of a girl who's had to sacrifice quite a bit for her family and put her own needs and wants on the back burner. Now it's time for her to finally live, and take control of her life and that's what we see Lauren do. One the eve of her new internship, she's talked into going on a girls night to celebrate the start of her new life and when her friends bails, things take a turn that's completely unexpected. yet very very needed.
Lauren goes to the bar to meet her friend and upon walking in makes eye contact with a man who will change her life forever. Cat ends up not showing up because of work and she's forced to drink alone, however said man comes to her rescue and sits at her table, admitting that the connection she felt was not one sided. From there, we see that they have an amazing night together, but that's all that Lauren intended for it to be and off she goes in the middle of the night. leaving just a note.
Fast forward a year later when lauren's internship is over and she's landed an amazing job (mind you one that's completely lacking reality as i work in advertising and i know that where she starts out at this new agency is not at all the level that anyone would straight from an internship). regardless, she's got this killer job at a new firm and she's walking into her first leadership meeting where they are meeting with the new CEO who turns out to be mr one night stand.
The roller coaster that we go on from there is one that has hints of other stories that i've read but still has a bit of originality that makes me enjoy it. We see that there's an issue of the employer/employee thing since there's still definite chemistry between them, and they clearly want each other but there's a fear of careers getting hurt along with reputations. Matt finds a solution in the form of creating their own fantasy world and while it works at the onset, they both realize that there's so much more there between them and that means so much more at stake.
The questions that you're asking yourself throughout is can it work, is anyone going to find out and what will that mean to lauren's career and reputation? is there any way for this to work out for everyone's best interest or does it mean that they will have to stop what they are doing or find other jobs......
We get the expected heat and passion that Ms Jones brings to her stories so that's a great thing. The downside is that the way that this one ended, it kind of hints at what it could be if there was another installment to their story, however i think that wasn't ever the intention so you're given some closure but nothing final enough for my liking.
ONE NIGHT FOREVER (Cinderella Chronicles) by Lisa Renee Jones
SPOILERS
ONE NIGHT FOREVER is the first storyline (July 2012 release) in Lisa Renee Jones new erotic romance series -Cinderella Chronicles. Lauren Reynolds is our Cinderella-looking after her ailing mother and starting a new internship with an advertising firm she needed a break. She needed a fantasy: A one-night stand to take her away for just one evening. So when her best friend Cat called offering a night on the town, Lauren reluctantly took her up on her offer. Only Cat never showed.
Matt Monroe is the CEO of his own company. Wealthy and single, Matt hit the nightclub with friend Bob thinking about a couple of drinks and then going home. But Matt was drawn to the beautiful woman sitting alone and all good sense flew away. He wanted this woman. And Lauren could not refuse Matt’s offer.
Lauren wasn’t the type of woman to do one-night stands, but living out her TV show “Red Hot Secrets” fantasy, Lauren jumped at the chance when Matt offered to take her back to his home. But after a wild night of sex Lauren was gone and Matt felt devastated. Was it more than just sex?
One year later, Lauren finds herself starting a new position with the Carlson Advertising firm, but to her shock Matt Monroe owns the firm and technically is her new boss. Hoping Matt would not remember her, Lauren is stunned when Matt confesses that he has been looking for her for over a year. But starting up where they left off wasn’t in Lauren’s plans. Sleeping with Matt would have far more serious repercussions than just a one-night stand-she would be sleeping with the boss. And she needed this job.
Matt is determined to make Lauren his-own. Knowing she is opposed to an office romance, Matt sets up a series of nightly rendezvous where the sex is hot, but the guilt rides Lauren to tears especially when the other staff members begin to suspect. But when Matt must leave for business out of town, Lauren makes a decision that will break her heart-only Matt has other plans.
ONE NIGHT FOREVER is a short story. The premise is predictable-an inter-office romance with the boss rarely ends well, especially when one is accused of sleeping their way to the top. But when you own the company, you go for what you want and Matt wanted Lauren. There is very little information regarding this particular series, so I am hoping this is the first of many more to come. One Night Forever is a fun and fast read, that will leave you breathless and wanting more.
Lucy breaks character and has a ONS with a hot guy she meets in a bar. Fast forward a year, and...surprise!...her ONS is her new boss.
What I liked: -Typical LRJ, the sexytimes were pretty hot. -It was sort of a modern-day twist on Cinderella.
What I didn't like: -Lucy was just flat out annoying. I don't mind a little push and pull, but she pushed back, literally up to the very end. She kept shooting him down and not wanting him to see where she lived and all kinds of BS. I get that she didn't want to be seen as sleeping her way to the top - blah blah blah - but come ON. Enough is enough.
The book was good, I just didn't like the h in the story, she was too self-conscious and worried instead of confident or even shy. She worried, but did nothing about it and always caved. She was rather whiny and always, not second guessing, just worried about everyone else except H and herself - she really didn't deserve and HEA after acting the way she did Also, the book felt a little too Harlequin-ess, and I do like Harlequin's, I just wasn't expecting one and wasn't in the mood for one here Not a bad book, just probably won't read more and this one again
The plot was promising, but the story felt a bit rushed. I think I spent too much time being in Lauren's head going over and over about how getting involved with Matt is a career suicide, than feeling the love she apparently had for him. While the general premise was enchanting, I wish it delved deeper into the characters a bit more. Still, it was an entertaining read. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Hopefully, it would be about Bret :)
In 'One Night Forever', Lauren Reynolds lives vicariously through the female character in her favourite steamy show called Red Hot Secrets. Longing to fill the void in her life, she decides to throw caution to the wind and have a one-night-stand with a handsome stranger, Matt. A year later though, she meets him again only to find out he's her boss..
I liked that this book offered more than just repetitive sex scenes; it had a flimsy story involving Lauren's desire to excel in the advertising industry and how she was determined not to let her rendezvouses with Matt ruin her future in any way. However, the entire execution of the premise was repetitive. Lauren would keep telling Matt that she couldn't risk tarnishing her reputation but she'd sleep with him anyway. Then she'd worry about the possible consequences. Rinse and repeat.
Lauren's weak resolve combined with her obsession with not letting Matt see how awful her home looked compared to his made her quite an annoying, unlikeable character. Matt wasn't any better - he was generic in every single way. Good-looking, successful, rich and popular with women. Zero flaws. For once, would it be possible for the 'hero' to be broke, unemployed or unattractive? That would be more realistic and interesting.
The writing suffered from too much telling and not enough showing. That's why the blossoming romance between Matt and Lauren was unconvincing on every level. It didn't help that they spent most of their time together getting physical. Their conversations regarding their personal lives didn't flow naturally and sounded more like an awkward Q&A session. The ending was predictable but without giving any sense of satisfaction.
Overall, 'One Night Forever' was a quick and forgettable read filled with stereotypical characters, lazy solutions and run-of-the-mill misunderstandings.
Naughty, Naughty Prince Charming: A standalone (The Charming Series Book 1)
Logan met Lucy at a bar in a hotel. He was rich and owned his own company. He was leaving on a trip and was waiting around to finish thing up before he head for his room for the night. Lucy was supposed to meet her girlfriend Zoe at the bar, to go dancing. Zoe had to work late and didn't show up. Logan discovered Lucy at the bar and asked her if she wanted a drink. The chemistry was there between them, so you can make up your own mind to know what happened next, Lucy left with Logan. After a night of passion, she wrote him a note to say goodbye and left. A year later she finally found a good paying job in advertising. So the first day of working at the new company she arrives to find out Logan is her new upper boss! Life got to be the best for both of them, with rumors that they were having affair. This story was really fast moving and kept you interested in reading this story, because you never knew what was going to happen next with Lucy and Logan. The author surely wrote a fantastic book. Enjoy
I really enjoyed this book overall. Lucy & Logan met and had one great night. Then she left. They finally see each other a year later but unfortunately he's her boss. This is where I wasn't a fan because Lucy wanted to be with him and then nope I can't your my boss. She flip flopped every few minutes it seemed and that was so annoying. Logan was there for her the whole time and told her that it would work out. I loved Logan and I loved when they finally worked thru things to be together but definitely had some annoying parts in between.
I mostly enjoyed this story up until the last few chapters. I felt the story rushed to the finish and left me feeling underwhelmed. Lucy's constant push back was annoying at times. I wondered several times why Logan continued to pursue her when she was so secretive and negative about their relationship. Overall good chemistry between Logan and Lucy and decent character development. I just wish there were an extra chapter or a lengthy epilogue to really finish the story.
This was a good series but not as good as some. I have a feeling this series was written some time ago as it reads like so many others do by authors just starting out. It simply isn't the same quality and intensity as her newer books, for instance her Lilah Love series. Not that it is bad, it isn't by a long shot but the Walker Security Series, Inside Out, Lilah Love and so many others sound more mature and flushed out, filled with intrigue rather than push and pull.
I liked reading this story, it was very enjoyable. The characters were great. The plot and storyline were great too. I loved the chemistry between the main characters. It was sizzling hot🔥. This book has some interesting twists in it. It will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I was originally displeased by the very detailed, graphic sex scenes. But as the book continued, I saw the authors reason was to let us know the intimate thoughts and fears of both main characters. Again, if you don’t mind the graphic sex scenes, you’ll love this book!!!
The story of Lucy Stark a hard working woman with a dream to work for an Advertising Company has come true. But Logan Monroe complicates it. She had a one night stand never expecting to see him again. She gets her dream job and there he is. She does not to be office gossip. Can she survive Logan Monroe? Loved this book.
Logan finally met someone that he thought of all the time,Lucy, she was so different from all the other women 5hat he had hooked up with. They were forgotten, but Lucy was not. She went through a lot to be with Logan.
When a one night stand turns out to be so much more. Starting a new job and running into that person and finding out they are your new boss. Epic. I highly recommend this story to others. I could not put it down.
Part of the Alpha Men pack. I really like to read charcters with good chemistry. Matthew Monroe and Lauren Reynolds had that. Lauren is a good girl in a difficult situation trying to make the best of it and create a career for herself. Not an easy task. Her friend convinces her to take a night off and go have fun... put her brain on lock down and have a one stand and does she ever. Matt is hot and their night together is pretty spectacular, but Lauren just wants one night disappears from Matt's bed. Fast forward a year later to Lauren's first day at a top advertising firm where she is introduced to her new boss... none other than Matthew Monrow himself. Well that is an "Oh, shit" situation if I ever heard of one and to make matters worse... that chemistry is still there, Matt remembers her and has no intentions of backing down. Matthew Monroe is a playboy when we first meet him, but he see's the light when he has his night with Lauren. Now a reformed player, he gets a new chance with Lauren and he is not one to back down. I loved that about him... he went for what he wanted and fought hard. He did not back away no matter what. You could tell he cared for Lauren and he tried his hardest to accomodate for what she wanted, even if it kind of hurt him in the process and he was just an all around great guy. He really wasn't a bad boy, but was an alpha male. Lauren... irritated me at times. She was all career, career, career at times which I do get, but she has this great guy right there! Grr! She just came off as chicken and bitchy at times. She did have good qualities though. She was strong and strong willed, she could deal with a lot of things and she did have a big heart. The chemistry the two had was definately hot and tastefully done. One Night Forever was very steamy and sweet. It was also a lot of fun to read and very quick. For as short as it is you get a full detailed story that doesn't cheat you on details or storyline.
