Carved In Memory

Rate this book
His immortality is a double-edged sword of ultimate pleasure and blinding regret...

Because of his betrayal of Phineas, one of the island Ancients, Alonzo was exiled from Mannos and the Brotherhood of the Midnight Pearl. After a century, he has learned to survive in alienation, serving as an acquisitor to the Brotherhood.

Angel-Boy, a young man Alonzo rescued from the streets five years earlier, unearths an item originally fashioned on Mannos. Although the carved figurehead ushers in painful, bittersweet memories to Alonzo, he must possess it. Yet Angel-Boy wants only one thing in exchange for the valuable item...

A single night in Alonzo’s bed.

It surprises and excites Alonzo that the young man’s eagerness and unlearned prowess rivals any receiver skilled in the erotic arts on Mannos. But Alonzo has sworn he will never love another man. He’s already lost his soul, and he can’t afford to wager any more of his emotion if he is to survive this purgatory, one he must endure until Phineas forgives him for his transgressions. If that ever happens...

Adrianna Dane (who also writes as Tess Maynard) has been putting pen to paper since the age of ten. She currently resides in the state of Washington and is a member of Romance Writers of America, EPIC. and Broaduniverse.

The first defining love story Adrianna read back in junior high school was "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte, and that set her on the road to her long standing love affair with the romance genre. Her inspiration in writing often can be found by listening to song lyrics and reading poetry by such poets as Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Edgar Allen Poe, and Ranier Maria Rilke. But finding inspiration for her stories truly has no boundaries for Adrianna.

She freely admits she is a romantic by nature and adding sensual heat to romance with a dusting of suspense is her motto. "Esmerelda's Secret" released by Amber Quill Press in June of 2004 was Adrianna's first book, and with that story and her subsequent books has firmly established herself as a voice within the sensual/erotic romance genre.

Adrianna always looks forward to hearing from her readers and she may be contacted at adriannadane@yahoo.com. Find out more about her current releases as well as planned future releases and book signings by checking for updates at her website periodically.

Here a story which is really a shame that is soo short, less then 35 pages...

The Exile is a series featuring some exiled inhabitants of the mythical Isle of Mannos, and all male island where the primary scope is pleasure and where the men are divided into Acquisitor and Receiver.

Alonzo was a receiver, but he made a great mistake, the sin the be too proud to accept mindly the will of an Ancient Master and now he is exiled in the mainland. He has not a bad life, but the worst punishment he has is the knowledge that he can return to Mannos.

Alonzo knows that he can't be able to love a man, and so he tries to ignore the blossimg love of Angel-boy, a street guy he has helped. He has bought a shop and rent it to Angel-boy, giving the guy a work and also an home. Angel-boy trades ancient manufact, and now he has found a piece from the Isle of Mannos, something he knows that Alonzo wants badly. But to give it to Alonzo, Angel-boy wants in exchange an entire night in bed with him.

Only when Alonzo will manage to overcome some of his issues, he will give a chance to Angel-boy to enter his life...

As I said the story is very short, much too short, cause Alonzo and Angel-boy are two characters who deserves a little more. Also in the previous story in the Exile series, I had the feeling to read only a prequel to a much more interesting and complex story. But I don't understand if Adrianna Dane is preparing something more, or if this is all she wants to give us.

4 Nymphs!! The Exile: Carved In Memory is a short but very enjoyable installment in this series. Adrianna Dane has created a multi-layered and very fascinating character in Alonzo... ...I highly recommend it to fans of m/m fantasy who don't need the happily ever after. I for one will be anticipating the next installment in this series... --Woodland Nymph, Literary Nymphs Reviews
