Let me tell you about Marc Oramaner. He LOVES him some Marc Oromaner. This is the most pretenious book I've ever read - I hated his writing style, I didn't really like his theories, and I hated how self-righteous and egotistical he is. So, to spare you from reading this, here's his 150 pages summed up:
He wrote this book at the end of the 3rd season, which ends with the 1st flash forward episode and Jack telling Kate, "WE HAVE TO GO BACK!" (Great line). Anyways, his theory makes a lot more sense before seeing this season although it still could be correct. He goes by the Total Recall Theory - that the island is a computer simulation and all of the characters from the plane are there to work through their issues. Once they successfully do this they are "killed" on the island, waking them up in the real world. DHARMA and The Others are scientists helping them work through these issues and also studying them.
Yes, this could be the solution but I hope it's not because I hated this book so much I really can't stand the thought of Oromaner being correct. The only redeemable tidbit I got from this is his theory about Sun - he thinks she was pregnant before she got to the island. Since Ben won't let Juliet go home until she cures the fertility problem, she has a reason to lie and say Sun got preggers on the island. I feel like maybe this is why Sun doesn't end up in the 70s with the rest of the gang. I'll give him that - good point. Otherwise, you bloow Oromaner.
