There are many books on architectural design. "Architecturally Speaking" by Eugene Raskin is ono of the few that offer useful information in a concise, easy-to-read form. Highly recommended. Also, it is small enough to fit easily on most bookshelves. It's only limitation is that it is not suited to use as a large, glamorous, book for your coffeetable.
