My five year old daughter, Rory, says, “I like this book because there’s dinosaurs. And it’s because they’re so big! And thank you for this book. The end. The end.”

It’s a great book for having your kid listen to you failing to pronounce the dinosaur names correctly. Perhaps that’s a good thing for them to watch you practice and fail pronunciation just as they are as they learn to read themselves. There’s a lot of “no” in the book as the book has you keep trying to guess the right dinosaur, so my daughter certainly got to practice recognizing how to read that word.

I read a free copy of this book for my son who is a huge dinosaur enthusiast for his age and already knows a lot about them. The cover design caught my eye and made me want to pick up the book. The first few dinosaurs were great, but as we got further into the book, I started to wonder if some of the illustrations were clip art. When we got to the ankylosaurus, it looked a bit squished to fit on the page. I think most people won't realize it, but I just have an eye for that stuff. Despite this inconsistency in style, my son still enjoys looking at the book and learning more about dinosaurs. Overall, it's a great concept and delivery for young dinosaur lovers. I really would love to see it revamped with some original artwork and perhaps bring back the kids from the beginning to the end!

"I think people don’t notice it, but a book wouldn’t be a
book without some humor.” Fifth Grader

I deliberately started with a student's quote.
We all know that humour helps children to engage with stories.
The little book - with its simple questions, wonderful illustrations, and playful text placement - will definitely sustain a child's attention.
The author created a publication that has the power to hook and hold the reader to the last page.
What is on the last page?
The liberating giggle...no, dinosaurs are not scary!

I received a free copy of the book from the author.

Lovely and cute book with a surprise ending.

This is a nice and entertaining book for the little ones that teaches about a variety of dinosaurs, with colorful and age appropriate illustrations.

t wouldn't really say it's a story about dinosaurs, but rather a little enciclopedia that teaches about different types of dinosaurs. If your child loves dinosaurs, they will defiantly enjoy the pictures in the book. but aa a plot, there's not much to it other than the mention of a Happy Birthday and end of the book surprise.

So my opinion, this is a book for up to 3 yo and not 3-5.

I highly recommend "A Dinosaur Came to my Birthday Party" by Frances Mackay. It is a well-written and engaging book for young children who love dinosaurs. The illustrations are beautifully done, with vibrant colours. It includes a range of different dinosaurs and their names, which can help children learn more about these fascinating creatures. The surprise ending adds more fun to the story, making it an excellent choice for young readers.

I received this copy of the book from the author for free to be used as reading material for my students. My grade 2 student expressed a clear desire for a dinosaur-related topic as it is both her and younger brother's favorite. Unfortunately, many of the names of the dinosaurs were a tad too difficult to pronounce and she proceeded to lose interest in reading them out loud. But she was still entertained to continue listening as I read it to her and she adored the colorful pictures.

I love the fun game of guessing while introducing through the story what type of Dinasaur came to the party. I personally never knew there were so many different types of dinosaurs, and I admit the difficulty pronouncing their names. I enjoyed the colorful illustrations, and this book is a must-have teaching tool for the classroom and great addition to a home library.

This book is so much fun! The illustrations are beautiful and I truly enjoyed learning about all of these dinosaurs (I didn't know the names of quite a few of them!). The vibrant illustrations with information about the dinosaurs is both entertaining and educational. I wish I could give more than 5 stars to this book!

This book is perfect for little kids. My 2-year-old nephew is obsessed with dinosaurs and says, "No!" on a near-constant basis, so he was thrilled to repeat it back to me after each page. This book is super cute and has a surprise ending. Little guys laugh a lot through this one.

I enjoyed how so many different dinosaurs were incorporated into the story with illustration to match. The surprise ending was great! I think a little more about the party itself could have been included as my little one loves birthdays but regardless it was a fun and enjoyable book.
