To Have and to Bind

Rate this book
No one stands between a wolf and his mate....

Rosalind Pierce was promised to me by her parents as payment to be delivered on her eighteenth birthday.
That day has come and gone, leaving me no closer to claiming what’s mine: Her life.

She’s everything that is good with the world.
Her innocences calls me closer like a moth to the flame with each passing moment.
But I remain in the shadows,
Watching. Waiting. Wanting.

I am darkness incarnate, the exact opposite of her in every way
But none of that matters.
She is my mate and I have to make her understand.
She will obey me.
She will be mine.

Good PNR read!!!

There’s always something about fated mates that I enjoy reading, and I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but the thought of there being that right someone who calls to the soul of their other half just ‘fits’ in the romance genre. This book, TO HAVE AND TO BIND was a really good read and I believe that Author Alexandria Raven captured the PNR aspect of a binding connection between Shifter Gabriel and his human mate Rosalind.

In this first book of the Legends of Fate series, Gabriel and his two older brothers were born into one of the last powerful shifter families and bloodline is everything, and his father has brokered a deal of a wife for him. I’m not going to go into it at all, except to say that I absolutely admired Gabriel. Powerful, protective and possessive, he kept a close eye on the woman to be his and quickly realises that their pairing was meant to be, fated even, because she is the other half to his soul. He’s a romantic man, and unlike his brothers, prefers to ‘woo’ Rosalind, wanting her to have the free will to accept and love him, or damn them both.

I couldn’t get a read on her, nor really even connect enough with her to form an opinion. She vacillated between attraction and morbid horror at her own actions, but I couldn’t label her as weak. She was fighting fate and chemistry and ain’t no one strong enough for that!! The idea that an unbonded pair would be condemning themselves to a painful end isn’t a new one but Ms Raven put that idea to good use.

I also have to add that there was one issue of the family business that I wasn’t at all happy about meaning that this is a 4-Star read for me. Anyone who loves this genre of books will enjoy meeting Gabriel and Rosalind, and the rest of his family, and I’m looking forward to reading about his brothers.

This is the first book of the Legends of Fate series if the rest of the series follow suit, I will be reading each book. Gabriel sexy as all get out wolf shifter with a father with a lot of power working with The Committee, they run nearly everything in their world as well as input in how things are running in the human world. Rosalind was sold as a teenager by her father, sold to The Committee to be the wife of Gabriel because he wanted to become the President, but her father didn’t keep his end of the deal ensuring they come looking for him and their payment. Now at the time of the deal neither The Committee nor Gabriel knew that she was actually his fated mate and we all know that fated mates are control by fate regardless of the situation or circumstances. Gabriel has been stalking Rosalind for a while unbeknownst to her or her family and he will have who was promised to him but will she go willingly with him, did she even know her father sold her to further himself, being they are fated mates and will they get their own HEA?

This is a subgenre that I don’t typically read when it comes to romance, however, I really enjoyed this story.
Gabriel is a shifter. He is next in line to take over The Committee from his father. Rosalind was promised to The Committee, but after several years have passed, things have changed. One major thing is that Gabriel realized that Rosalind is his mate.

There is chemistry between Gabriel and Rosalind. The two of them are drawn to each other. Gabriel more so than Rosalind in the beginning. Rosalind is thrust into a world that she didn’t even know about and something that is completely life changing for her. She definitely makes Gabriel work for it and I’m glad that she had some people that could help her navigate her emotions and feelings and explain the overall situation to give her a better understanding about what is happening.

There is plenty of steam in this book mixed in with an enjoyable story. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

If you’re looing for a paranormal, shifter, fated mates romance this is one to check out.

Gabriel's father is a wolf shifter, head of “The Committee”, who was married to a dragon shifter. “The Committee" controls everything, but shifters are thinning out and they now have to look toward humans as matches. Gabriel is told by his father he has found him a match, a senator who wants to be president, to his fifteen year old daughter, when she is eighteen. Gabriel feels something when he looks at her picture, little does he know at that time that she is his mate.

Over the next few years, he becomes obsessed with Rosalind, has cameras watching her everywhere. When they finally do meet, for her it is the first time, she feels a pull but does not trust it.

Several forces look to keep the pair apart, including her own parents. Can he convince her they are two halves of a whole? There is some heat in this story. I am looking forward to his brother's stories.

I really really don't like whiney princess rose

This is a secret society fated mate shifter romance
The copy I read was unedited so things might have changed in the story

Gabriel had already decided how things were going to turn out he was just trying to give Rosalind time to come to terms with it
While she plays the spoiled brat he is trying to keep her alive and out of the clutches of his father, her father, and a faction of other people who do not want their union to happen
Besides Ms. Whiney's pants, I really enjoyed the other characters and the overall plot and tone
I just could not connect - her attitude threw me off

This has your suspense, backstabbing, hot as hades smexy moments, some violence, and plenty of action
I am hoping book two has a stronger heroine
Also, the copy I read was unedited so I am assuming errors were corrected before publication

A new paranormal author and first in the series

"The Committee" is like the Mafia, run by shifters and will help the humans get what they want for a price. At the age of 15 Rosalind was that price so her father could become President. She was meant for Gabriel, who's family is head of "The Committee", and so he became obsessed with her waiting for her to become of age. Rosalind's father reneged on the deal but Rosalind is Gabriel's fated mate. Can Rosalind come to terms with being sold, believing shifters exist, being a fated mate and being drawn to Gabriel? Read and find out.

This book had a lot of genres mixed. You have fated mates, age gap, a mafia type group with "The Committee", stalking and obsessions and some dark areas.

Rosalind and Gabriel are set to be mated as her father sold her to his dad when she was a young teen. He soon learned she was his fated mate and started to keep tabs on her, being very protective. Once eighteen, her family does not deliver so the storyline becomes a roller coaster ride as the search and connection begin. The characters are well developed, with determination and good dialogue. The storyline has drama, danger, deceit, hidden agendas, betrayal, steam, romance, entertaining situations and much more. Loved their chemistry as they become a pair and take on the rest of the group. The ending fits well and can not wait to read more of this family.

Rosalind and Gabriel's story is a whirlwind from start to finish. Gabriel is a wolf shifter and his father is head of "The Committee", a group of shifters who make things happen for the humans for certain prices.

Rosalind's dad wants to become president, and the committee will help, but Rosalind must marry Gabriel when she turns 18.

Little do they all know, Rosalind is actually Gabriel's fated mate.

Outside forces try to keep them apart, Rosalind's uncertainty about shifters, a twist no one sees coming, and some spice lead to a HEA for these two. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
This is my first read by Alexandria Raven and this is the first book in the Legends of Fate series. Rosalind has been Gabriel's obsession since she was 14 and now that she is 19 there is nothing holding him back from claiming his mate. Gabriel is a wolf-shifter in a very high pressured family. He wants to claim Rosalind before the full moon but danger and subterfuge surround them. I loved this story and it definitely was a page turner that I couldn't put down. These characters are so intense and impassioned. I can't wait for book 2 and to delve more into this series.
Fated mates, scheming families, intrigue, and more. I enjoyed this story as Rosalind and Gabriel struggle to find peace in their lives. Rosalind was caught in the middle of something she did not understand, but she tried to understand on her own, keep her life hers. Gabriel was also caught in between family and destiny, but he knew what he wanted. He was very protective, overly at times, and honest. The steam ratcheted up as the draw between them grew stronger. Quite an enjoyable story.
This book is a paranormal romance, and even though I don’t normally read this style I did enjoy this story. Gabriel is a wolf shifter who is set to take his place like his ancestors have. When she was 15, Rosalind was promised to Gabriel in exchange for her fathers political career. Fast forward four years, and Gabriel is completely obsessed with her and Rosalind has no idea of the deal that was made involving her. This is the first in this series and I’m excited to read the rest!
Gabriel’s family is the head of a secret shifter society (think paranormal Illuminati), & Rosalind’s father is a human politician willing to bargain his daughter away to get ahead. Soon Gabriel realizes he’s in an arranged marriage with his actual mate, but Rosalind’s parents try to back out!
I’m the type of person who can guess plots and endings, but this story surprised me multiple times…it was refreshing to see interesting twists to typical storylines.
This is a fated mates, paranormal romance with some interesting twists and turns that made this a great read. The writing is well done, the characters are well developed and the ending was great. Rosalind and Gabriel are fated but it takes a lot of obstacles before they were able to be truly be together. There are some triggers and some of the scenes are graphic but that didn't disturb me. While I had some problems following along some of the scenes, I liked the premise of the story and was intrigued by the side characters as well.
I delved into PNR a few years ago not knowing if I would like it or not. I read some pnr by an established author that I really liked her contemporary romance books and I really liked it. Alexandria Raven will be an asset to this genra. I loved Gabriel and Rosaland! I really enjoyed their story on the way to their HEA. Even though they had their ups and downs it was a really enjoyable story.
Started off really strong and towards the end I didn't really care how it ended. Rosalind was really hard to connect to and I ended up just feeling really bad for Gabriel.
Wowza Rosalind and Gabriel’s story is one hell of a book. To know you find your mate is a great thing but to have a major secret while trying to convince her she’s yours is another thing. Gabriel has found her…now can he make her see she is his.
I absolutely fell in love with Gabriel as he shows he’s protective and possessive over his mate while making sure he’s able to continue his position with “the committee”. If you are wants a shifter series this is the first one and you won’t be disappointed by any means!!!!
This is the first book in the Legends of fate book and was the story of Rosalind and Gabriel. Gabriel is a wolf shifter whose father runs “The Committee,” a group of powerful shifters who run everything. Rosalind is 15 when her father sells her to the Committee as Gabriel’s future wife, in exchange for becoming President. But then they fail to deliver, and Gabriel tracks her down.
For whatever reason, this book and I just didn’t connect. I really didn’t care for either of the characters. Gabriel was obsessive and unable to communicate. Rosalind was so convinced she was unlovable. She kept wanting Gabriel to prove he loved her, yet whatever he did wasn’t enough. I really didn’t like what Gabriel did to his father – I felt that was over the top and unnecessary. And then Rosalind’s sudden reversal regarding the relationship and Gabriel’s wolf made no sense. She spent most of the book sort of saying it wouldn’t work and then suddenly it did for no rhyme or reason. This book has trigger warnings which I recommend people do read. I know many people will like it so I don’t not recommend it, but it wasn’t to my taste.
To Have and To Bind is the first book in the Legends of Fate series. Rosalind (h19) is a young woman from a wealthy family who sees her as a means to better their situation in life - she's never really felt loved. Gabriel (H - appears 40, age is 100+) is a wolf shifter from a powerful family. He was promised Rosalind when she was 15 and has spent four years stalking her, surrounding her with his people and keeping tabs on her at all times - it was kind of hot but kind of creepy too. Gabriel has realized that she is his mate and is in possessive Alpha mode when it comes to Rosalind, btu he realizes he's going to have to convince her to love him as much as he loves her. The hot and steamy action was intense. There is some violence (attempted assault, and a couple of killings), though the description was not too over the top. It was a hot, fated mates story, with some interesting characters, and it will be interesting to see where the series goes.
