Once again Maggie Doyle discovered a dead body on Whisper Island – it seemed she was a body magnet. When she rang Sergeant Liam Reynolds with the news it immediately thrust them into another murder investigation. Maggie had only just obtained her PI license and her first case was to search for Nancy – a sheep that went missing some time previously – even knowing the hopelessness of the case, she still wanted to help Paddy as best she could.

When the wealthy Huffingtons from America turned up on Whisper Island, Maggie found herself embroiled in the bitter politics of the family. And when another body was found, Maggie knew they had to find the killer quickly, before someone else became a victim.

How to Murder a Millionaire is the third in the Movie Club Mysteries series by Zara Keane, and another fun and entertaining cosy mystery – set in Ireland - which I thoroughly enjoyed. Plenty of twists, lots of laugh out loud moments, and Maggie once again chasing the bad guys. Fabulous. Highly recommended.

This is third in a mystery series and the two previous books illustrate important parts of the background and some of the ongoing relationships. I recommend reading in order, not least for details with Sergeant O'Shea, Lenny, and Liam.

The tourist season is in full swing on Whisper Island and Maggie is officially a P.I. with a license and everything. I love that she's explicitly working to make the island her home and leveraging her former career skills as a police detective to make a go of it. It isn't clear how much call there would be for a PI in a small community, but Keane doesn't make it this huge success thing and Aunt Noreen is still providing lots of support, both emotional, and with shifts at the Café. So I liked that pretty well.

The mystery is stronger in this one, with a thoroughly despicable victim and large cast of suspects of varying sympathetic callouts. I kind of thought I'd hate the "find the twenty-years-missing sheep" plot more than I did, though. I mean, that turned out extremely satisfying, even if it was mostly background through the story. And I think I'll just have to take the role of coincidence in stride for Keane as it seems to be a factor every time, at last to some extent. Less this time, actually, with only really one that was a bit of a stretch.

I kind of hated the stupid kink aspects of this one, and having Maggie and Lenny go "undercover" in mostly-not-there costumes was ridiculous (and not in a good way). It was all so tacked-on without having any real relevance so it seemed mostly to exist to add a bit of slapstick. And that's always going to rankle this reader. Though I did like Lenny's casual confidence as that played against type but very well with his character, so there's that.

That last puts this at 3½ stars. I'll round up because I really liked the relationship developments with Liam; plus Lenny's explicitly going for PI status so he can be an official assistant was just made of awesome. I look forward to both those aspects developing in the next book.

A note about Chaste: Liam uses Maggie to get close to the suspects in this one by posing as her boyfriend. I was really glad that he went out of his way to let her know that this was not just for convenience and that kissing her was always in the plan, at least on his part. She still isn't officially divorced, so he's taking it slow and all, but he uses his words to tell her what he intends and that just made him awesome. Like he wasn't already awesome, but yeah... Anyway, this is still very chaste with only a couple of plot-relevant kisses.

I am really digging this series!! Yes, this is the 3rd book, I still have two more on my Kindle (I bought the box set, which comes in bargain price for 5 books), and I will be reading those after this one.

Anyway, Maggie now has her P.I. license to work as investigator at Whisper Island. Her first case is to investigate what happened to Paddy Driscoll's missing sheep, Nancy. Only the sheep went missing 22 years ago 😆. But then Maggie finds the dead body of the prime suspect (of the missing sheep), and then the SUSPECT for THAT suspect also found dead. Yeah, Maggie tends to be a corpse magnet 😂

I think the (final) victim this time is despicable -- well, all the victims so far in this series are bad, but I really disliked that one victim in this one. The millionaire. No this is not a spoiler, it's in the title! Maggie did good in investigating, but again, one of the important clues sort of came to her in coincidence .

Anyway, I really hope that Lenny can become Maggie's assistant for the next book. I like that guy! And he's a good "staff" for Maggie, especially when it comes to technology and digging the Internet.

PS: There's a very small development in the romantic department between Maggie and Garda Sergeant Liam Reynolds... but considering that Maggie's divorce is not yet finalized, I hope that the romance sticks to kisses and dates for now.

Despite the number of dead bodies that keep turning up around Maggie, this series is perfect comfort reading. Compelling without being too challenging, engrossing without having too much tension, and featuring a fun cast of characters and a lovely Irish island setting, my biggest concern is reading through the entire series too quickly.

This is the 3rd book in Movie Club Mysteries serie and it is already my favourite serie. It is set on Whisper Island in Ireland. I like Maggie who has become private investigator and together with her friend Lenny help sergeant Reynolds investigate murders which occurred on this island and neighboring Gull Island where they also go for a trip with a rich Huffingtons family which arrived from US. The book is well written. It is fun and light read. I like the atmosphere in the book. I am looking forward to read next book in this nice serie.

I hate when these fun mysteries turn into stupid and cringey romances. If I hear "spicy aftershave" one more time....

All of a sudden the mysteries are obvious and Maggie is making stupid decisions. The problem is it's really hard for me to find a good audiobook with a narrator I like and I really love this narrator and I already bought the rest of the series when I had a coupon. So. Guess I'm in for some spicy aftershave.

3.5 stars: Cute addition to the series. The mystery is fine for a cozy. This is the first I’ve listened to on audio and the reader is ok. My only real issue with her is her American accent, which at first listen seems fine but once you keep listening you notice pronunciations of words that make it clear she’s faking the accent. I don’t know if it’s her normal accent bleeding through or something else but she just sounded off sometimes. It wasn’t bad enough to make me stop listening it it was enough that I chuckled at the pronunciations sometimes.

3.5 stars. This book wasn’t quite as exciting as the previous books. It started out much slower but it was still enjoyable because of the great characters. Really good narrator, but will someone PLEASE tell her the correct American pronunciation of the word ‘weekend’. Lol.

Another very entertaining entry in this series, involving a long missing sheep, a corpse in a crotchless mankini, and a truly obnoxious American businessman. And then there's Lenny in a suit of armor, julie and Gunther, and the intriguing Sergeant Reynolds. Maggie has a PI license now, and she's putting down roots on Whisper Island--if she doesn't go off a cliff first!

Maggie has decided to stay on Whisper Island permanently (or for now anyway) and obtained her P.I. license. With the ink still wet, Maggie is on a case. She's been hired by Paddy Driscoll to find out what happened to his sheep Nancy who went missing 22 years ago! Um ... OK... but Nancy surely isn't still ALIVE is she? No, Paddy just wants an answer. Maggie's search takes her to the farm of Jimmy Wright, Paddy's old nemesis. When Maggie manages to locate Jimmy in his barn, he's lying there wearing ONLY a "mankini" (don't look it up) with a rake in his chest- very much dead. Maggie calls Reynolds to come out to the farm but not before taking a good look around the barn. When Reynolds forbids her from doing just that, she heads inside and takes a quick peek at Jimmy's secrets. Who on earth would want to murder Jimmy and why and why was he dressed in kinkwear? What happened to his date? Did she murder him? Was it a romance gone wrong? Speaking of romance, Maggie and Reynolds are in that precarious twilight stage of being more than friends and not quite in a relationship yet her aunts still want to fix her up with eligible men. The aunts are delighted when their mother's girlhood friend, Helen Huffington, now wealthy returns to Ireland from America with her family. Her son, Ambrose "Huff" Huffington III is a bully and a tyrant. Maggie would never put up with that and turns down an invitation to stay with the Huffingtons at Marley House on Gull Island. When Maggie tries to decline, Reynolds pops up claiming to be her boyfriend to get himself invited to the house party. While Maggie feels she's landed in a modern Downton Abbey, she knows Reynolds must have a good reason for wanting to be there. Did one of the Huffingtons murder Jimmy? Them Ambrose ends up dead himself and Maggie and Reynolds strongly suspect the murderer is one of the family. Can they get out of there with their lives and solve the case?

I didn't enjoy this mystery as much as the previous one. There are two mysteries and then a third one and finally a fourth. Some are related and one is not. The humor was too gross for me. I don't need to read about old men and the kinky things they're into. While it sets up the mystery and the search for the missing witness, it could have been done without the mankini. I don't think I will ever get that image out of my mind! There are some funny scenes that involve that type of clothing but I didn't find that as funny as the two old men high on hash brownies and drunk on poteen in the previous book. I did like the romance starting to move along. This mystery taking place largely on Gull Island and with outsiders wasn't as charming as the Whisper Island crew.

Maggie didn't appeal to me too much in this story. I found her rude and unnecessarily so. She pushed boundaries to get answers but sometimes she was too sassy. She needs to learn when to push back and when to be polite.

Huff is a horrible person. He's more than a bully, he's a spoiled brat who has never heard anyone say no. No one has ever stood up to him until now and he's used it as an excuse to belittle and bully everyone in his orbit. He's just awful to women, being a sexist jerk, and children as well. He's even mean to his young granddaughter, Hailie. He has a trophy wife, Brandi, who knows how to please him but she seems to be the only one he likes. He defers to his mother sometimes but is awful to his sons and daughter-in-law. I wasn't surprised when he ended up dead. Still, I thought Maggie was rather rude to him. It's one thing to stand up to bullies on the playground and not put up with that treatment from a boss, but he IS correct in that he's her host. Also she is there to get to know her grandmother's friend and being rude to her family friend's son isn't a good way to rekindle the relationship.

The sons are not anyone to want to hook up with let alone marry. Ambrose IV aka Rosie aka Amb seems like a nice guy. I think he would like to be normal. He seems to love his wife and daughter and enjoys spending time away from his tyrannical father. I don't think he's smart enough to plan a murder and seems mild-mannered enough not to kill someone in the heat of the moment. Doug is a more likely suspect. He's sleazy, womanizing and lazy. Doug enjoys the money from their gross fried chicken ball company and I don't see him killing his father when we first meet him but I do after we learn a shocking revelation. My money is on the women. Helen acknowledges her own role in making her son the way he is but still doesn't stop him. She didn't do much to help her grandsons become grown men either. Helen seems to like Maggie and appreciate Maggie's intelligence but Maggie sense Helen is diverting her attention and hiding things. I suspect Helen is the murderer AND she was a Wright before she married so she's mixed up in the first murder case as well. Candace, Amb's wife, is nicer. She seems logical but also a bit lazy too, enjoying all that money can buy. I think if she can find a way to protect her lifestyle and her daughter, she'll go to any lengths to ensure their happiness. She would throw her husband under the bus, I'm sure. I get the sense that Huff's sister Martha may not be the nervous, shy spinster she appears to be. She's been verbally abused by her brother forever and is treated like an unpaid nanny by her sister-in-law. She says she doesn't mind and the revelation won't change anything for her, she would benefit greatly from her brother's death. Her personality seems to change after he's gone. It's always the quiet ones!

If the murderer wasn't a member of the family, then surely it was a servant. George, the valet, is in the most prime position to harm his employer but why not just quit? Why bite the hand that feeds you? Maybe Huff refused to pay George? The gardener, Rob Hennessy, becomes a suspect as well. I thought he had a tight alibi and I don't think he did it. Why bother because he works for the state and not the family.

Lenny gets involved in the investigating. He's bored working for his parents selling electronics. When Maggie needs his tech expertise to hack Jimmy's kinky dating sites, he's all in. Lenny is loyal to Maggie and a good sidekick. They're just friends but Reynolds is becoming more than that. He's eager to date Maggie but she's holding back. They have undeniable chemistry and he appreciates her brain. Yet he does the typical stay out of it routine. Yes he's a detective and she's a civilian but if she's hired to look into matters, she can do it freely now. Plus there's the matter of his daughter. Is Maggie ready to meet the child in the capacity of girlfriend? That would make me hesitate a lot. Julie's romance is heating up too. I do think Günter is into her and she's denying her feelings for him. They seem to have chemistry at any rate and he does something nice for her. I like them together. Paddy Driscoll manages to not be too crusty when he finally learns the truth about his dear Nancy. He's surprisingly calm about it. I'm not sure I would be so understanding.

The main animal companion in this novel is Mavis, formerly living with Jimmy Wright. She's horrid! This cat is snooty, mean to the other pets and marks her territory. Yuck. If only she could identify the murderer, the case would be easy to solve and Maggie can find Mavis a new home... maybe...

I still want to read the rest of the series but they're on Hoopla and I've used 3 borrows this month already so I'll have to wait a bit and see what else I want to borrow, if anything, before moving along.

I'm really enjoying Zara Keane's Irish Whisper Island mysteries. Her heroine is sassy and fearless--sometimes too fearless. She won't give up till she finds the solution to the latest murder she's tripped over. I wasn't surprised when Maggie decided to stay on the island where her family has roots. I mean what has she got back in San Francisco--just an Ex and no career? This mystery is tricky because she is a guest of the millionaire's family and the matriarch was her grandmother's best friend. But that doesn't stop Maggie from nailing the murderer. However, I really couldn't understand why she wouldn't accept her fee. Can anyone explain to me the catch?

Maggie is back!

I enjoy this series and can't wait to read the next book. Maggie is smart, likable and doesn't rush headlong into trouble. The supporting characters - Lenny, Liam, Julie, Gunter, Noreen & Philomena fill the book with humor and a great sense of family and friendship!

I thought I knew who did it until the very end and I was wrong...loved it! Another winner!

Yes! Back to Whisper Island we go for another murder mystery.

I swear, this island is like Midsomer from the TV shop - you want to visit because it looks lovely, but you don't because, well, murders!

Maggie now has a fresh off the presses PI licence, and is putting it to good use - though not how she was expecting. She is like a murder magnet!

Maggie and her zany bunch of family and friends embark on solving another murder mystery, with all the fun and antics that only this group can bring.

I loved that through it all, Maggie and her sexy Garda Liam are becoming closer and can't wait to see where things go with them.

Lenny, as always, is zany and out there, and just completely and utterly lovable!

What I like with Ms Keane's murder mysteries is that I never know who the killer is untilshe reveals it. Sure, I have my guesses, but there are plenty of red herrings in there that throw us off the scent. And I love it.

I also adore the old movies that the books are named after. It makes me go back and want to rewatch movies that I haven't seen in years.

Now I am impatiently waiting for book 4 to hit my kindle.

This is another great mystery by this author, in a fun and very entertaining series. This is book three and although each book can be read as a standalone I would recommend that you start at the beginning and get to know the wonderful characters. There are so many side characters in this series that you just have to love, I especially love Lenny her best friend in this one as he is good for a laugh and brings his own form of help and chaos to the story. The main character is also great and isn't afraid to speak her mind or stand up for the under dog. Again solving one mystery isn't enough for this author but it is so well written that it never gets confusing or boring and is just a great little mystery that kept me guessing. I can't wait to start the next book.
Maggie has put in the time and the work and is now a private investigator and thanks to her aunt she has her very first case. To find out what happened to a sheep twenty years ago. Before she can question the man who might hold the clues to what happened to the sheep, she finds him dead. At the same time her dead grandmother's best friend has returned to the small island and wants to reconnect with her old friends family. Maggie jumps at the chance when she learns the dead man was a relative. Can she find out who would want the farmer dead? The more she learns about her grandmother's friends family the more she wants to avoid them. But the detective in charge of the murder investigation finds the rich and famous family unwilling to talk and posing as Maggie's boyfriend he gets them invited to join the family on holiday to learn more about them. Just before he is about to arrest the killer another body is found and the detective is attacked. So it's up to Maggie and her sidekick Lenny to solve both murders and find out what happened to the sheep.
I like the narrator. She has a pleasant voice to listen too and uses accents well.

After getting her Private Investigator license, Maggie Doyle’s first case is to find out what happened to a sheep that’s been lost…for twenty-two years. But, of course, during the first day investigating, she stumbles across a dead body, which is becoming a regular occurrence, much to Maggie’s chagrin. Despite not being on the case, Maggie wants to know more, but she focuses on the sheep case.

Meanwhile, an old friend of Maggie’s grandmother comes to the island with her family, and Maggie and her family are invited to spend the weekend with them. Though the family is rich and put together for the public, it becomes very obvious that something is off between them. And when the patriarch of the family is found dead after a startling announcement, things get even crazier. Are the two murder cases linked? And can Maggie find Nancy, the lost sheep?

The third book in the Movie Club Mysteries Series is just as good as the second. With even more of the characters we’ve come to know and love, new characters that are interesting and suspicious (of course), and mysteries galore, How to Murder a Millionaire is a great addition to the series. Add in some incredibly hysterical situations, some truly heart-pounding excitement, and twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end, this book will entertain you from start to finish. Recommended for those who liked the first two books, as well as those who want a riveting cozy mystery with some minor adult elements.

A crotchless mankini, puffy chicken balls, and a missing sheep investigation. Maggie Doyle has her hands full again in How to Murder a Millionaire.

While investigating a twenty two year old case of a missing sheep, Maggie finds another dead body and so begins a mystery that will end with another murder. When the Huffingtons of chicken ball fame come to visit, it's more of a case of who didn't kill the family patriarch.

I really like this series. There's a nice dose of humor in all of the stories, and the growing romance between Maggie and Sargeant Liam Reynolds is so adorable. (Although I'm hoping they get to the good stuff soon!) Maggie is a likable character too as she stands on the threshold of starting a new relationship while still grieving the ending of her marriage. She loves her job on Whisper Island.

Lenny is a terrific sidekick for Maggie, and I'm glad to see he's worming his way into working for her because they are terrific sleuths together. And Zara Keane does the awesome job as always of making the setting as interesting as the characters.

If you are looking for a mystery that will make you smile and keep you interested, then you might like this series and How to Murder a Millionaire

This book is another hit! I am starting to think that author Zara Keane doesn't know how to write a bad book! It's another 5 out of 5 stars! Again the pepper rating isn't high, I would say it's overall a Bell Pepper. Though there is a little more romance in this book, it stays on the mellow side. Althought the romance between the main character Maggie and her love interest actually starts to heat up.

The mystery in this one has a few moments that make you take a double look. The beginning of this book makes you either cringe or laugh, I am not sure which you will do but I think that this book takes on a new take that the previous two books haven't broached. I love the connecting of dots and the back stories of suspects as well as the main characters that you have gotten to know over the last few books. But this book like the others could be read by itself or along with the other books in the series. The humor in this book is more abundant than the two previous books.

I would recommend this book to anyone that like a well written Murder Mystery. I would say that this is still a Mystery that everyone would like as long at you don't need super hot and sexy scenes. Zara's writing makes me itch for the next book.

I hope this helps you find your next Tanatlizing Tome!

Her first case as a licensed P.I. has Maggie Doyle looking into the twenty-two year old disappearance of a sheep. It may not be as thrilling as she wished, but when she steps into the barn of her first suspect only to find him dead, Maggie's heart begins to race. Was the man's risqué attire a clue to his demise, and what of the sudden arrival of a multi-millionaire and his family with ties to Maggie's family?

As the book begins, Maggie feels a little "off" to me - she's irritated that she's not allowed to prowl around the crime scene and practically storms off when her almost-boyfriend, the local law enforcement agent, denies her access to the investigation. Later in the story, when Maggie is at dinner with the millionaire and his family, she's abrasive to the man, her host. Yes, he was offensive to the point of abuse, but she was out of line in terms of both her comments and her choice of forum.

There's an element of kink to the story - I didn't mind it, but others may. (Slight warning there for more sensitive readers.)

I did like the story as a whole. I wish Maggie had been less (and I hesitate to say it) childish. And, despite my reservations concerning this particular book, I will be reading the next novel in the series.

ARC received for an honest review.

I really love this series. I always anticipate whose body that Maggie will stumble over next. In this installment, there are two mysterious deaths that may or may not be related. Maggie now has her PI license and as she is out for her first case, she discovers the first murder victim. She still has a complicated relationship with Liam- the Garda of the island.
Her trusty sidekick, Lenny, is always ready to lend a hand. He really brings the comedy to this series. I love how we get to see more of Aunt Noreen and her cousin Julie in this book.

A dinner party is a hope for Maggie to learn more about her case and the victim. No information is gleaned but there are secrets. An invitation for a weekend getaway has Liam pretending to be Maggie's boyfriend so he can further investigate them. However, meeting this haughty family also leads to another body.

There are so many suspects that I did not figure out the killer until it was revealed. An engaging and delightful mystery that I highly recommend!

Another amazing book in this fun series! Disclosure: I was sent an ARC of this book to voluntarily review. I'm just getting the review in at the last minute because today is the official release day. I loved how Liam and Maggie are getting closer, not sure if it's because she's got her PI license now or (I'd like to think) that they just genuinely care for each other. It was so sweet of Maggie to take in the murdered man's (Jimmy's) cat too, just had to add that, lol. As always there are twists and turns and of course I didn't guess who dunnit. I really enjoy the light-hearted and relaxed writing style as well as the realistic dialogue. Reading one of this series is like coming home to old friends, that's how well developed I feel the characters have been from the start. Give this series a try, I think you'll like it too!

I received this book as an ARC and will not show up as a verified purchase.
Maggie, having decided to stay on the island and become a PI discovers Jimmy Wright's body the first day she has her license.Of course Sergeant Reynolds tells her to stay out of his murder investigation.
During Sergeant Reynolds investigation. hH poses as Maggie's boyfriend to get close to the suspects, without telling Maggie first. One of the key suspects is also murdered with a select set of suspects left. Reynolds is also attacked and left for dead leaving sergeant O'shea in charge of two murder investigations while he is in the hospital. Giving Maggie no choice but to solve the crimes herself.
This is another great story by Zara Keane. It has well defined characters, a strong plot and story line with lots of humor and a cast of suspects that will keep you guessing until the end.

Loving this series and this is best one so far!

Great little cozy Irish mystery. The relationship between Maggie and Liam gets better and better. It's refreshing to see how he appreciates and respects her intellect and skills. He may not always agree with how she does things or her getting involved with police cases. That's his job! However he never dismisses outright her observations or theories. Liam seems genuinely amused at finding Maggie in weird situations she sometimes finds herself. I find Liam Reynolds a refreshing change from the "I am man. I protect woman. Why won't you do as I say?" mentality so often used in writing.

The book was well written with great descriptions while not boring you to death with them. There were several places of humor where I did actually laugh out loud. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Maggie just got her PI license, and she already found a dead body.
Is Maggie the "dead body" piper ?
Everybody else thinks so. It seems that it is an every day occurrence when Maggie finds a dead body.
For her fist case, she has to find a sheep that has been missing for 22 years.
You heard it right. Missing for 22 years.
When she tried to interview the suspect, she finds him dead.
Now, she has another mystery in her hands.
Can Maggie be able to solve all her cases ?
Let's not forger! It looks like Sergeant Reynolds wants to take things to the next level.
He wants, officially, to be Maggie's boyfriend. Awww.
Can't wait to read the next book!

I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Well Zara Keane does it again with book three of the Movie Club Mysteries. Maggie gets her PI license and has her first job a twenty year old mystery of the missing sheep Nancy. Got to love the humour in this book, right from the start the author has you laughing. I love the characters, especially Lenny who is growing into a very interesting character. It was easier to discover who did it in this one though the author does throw a couple of curve balls you. This is a cozy fun murder mystery read that will have you laughing. The author does get a bit kinky in this one ( wink, wink). You will have to read it to find out what I mean. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Movie Club Mysteries by Zara Keane is just plain old fun reading. How to Murder a Millionaire (Movie Club Mysteries #3) is a perfect example of why. An extremely engaging heroine who now official is a private investigator on Whisper Island, a wonderful Sergeant Reynolds who lights up the pages as he interacts with Maggie, and a murderer that is not easily guessed.
The setting is delightful, the supporting characters quirky is the best of ways and a plot that is a pleasure to read. This is very different from what I think of when I read Zara Keane; think darker, edgier while How to Murder a Millionaire is lighter but boy am I loving it.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book.

This is a great book; this is the third book in the Movie Club Mystery series written by Zara Keane. Armed with her newly issued private investigator's license, Maggie Doyle is on the case…of a sheep that went missing twenty-two years ago. When she trips over a dead body on the first day of the investigation, Maggie realizes there’s more to this cold case than a fight over lamb chops. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

A clean & sweet cosy mystery set on an Irish island. A local sheep farmer dies a day before a past resident, now matriarch heiress of a US tycoon family comes to visit and, of course, Maggie stumbles on the corpse. As you do. Not quite as hilarious as Evanovich’s books, I liked the subtle wit and humour in this one, but seriously, the romantic angle needs to be moved up, I’m dying for Maggie and the Serge to get together. Easy to read, good plot, great secrets peeling back like onions and bodies piling up - what’s not to love. Reminded me of Shetland, the tv series a bit, but without the dark modern dramas, tbh.

Recommended for lovers of cosy mysteries the likes of Miss Marple but set on a modern day Irish island.

Maggie has just received her private investigators license & acquired her first case. A farmer has hired her to find his favorite ewe that had been missing for 22 years. When she went to interview the only suspect, she stumbles across his dead body. What follows is a perfect combination of mystery & romance. Before the story is over, there is conspiracy, murder, violence & romance. Sergeant Reynolds finally makes his move on Maggie but she isn't sure if it's because of the case or if he truly likes her. A good mystery with a solid plot, well developed characters & light romance. I enjoyed it & I'm sure you will too.
