Fake marry her brother’s best friend to catch a killer . . . sure, what could go wrong?
Growing up on a ranch with four older brothers, Ella Mae Hawkins is no stranger to rugged and tough men. But her heart has always belonged to the one man she can’t have.
After a secret romantic weekend three years ago with him leaves her broken-hearted, Ella Mae accepts an opportunity to go to Paris and pursue her fashion dreams. It’s supposed to be her chance to get away and start over. Instead, she’s going there with the same stubborn man who claimed he was too dangerous for her—as his fake wife.
Jesse McAdams, a former Army Ranger, has spent half his life away from his small hometown, but one thing has always remained true: one woman owns his heart. The problem? She can never know how he really feels.
But after their hot weekend in New York, it’s been harder than ever to resist the sassy, headstrong Ella Mae. Especially when they can’t share a room without arguing, which often leads to desire.
Joining the team at Falcon Falls Security was supposed to bring the redemption he needs so he can finally be the man Ella Mae deserves. Instead, the fabric of lies he’s woven over time quickly unravels, exposing his secrets, and places a target on the heads of everyone he cares about.
Despite her shock over his past, Ella Mae finds herself falling for her brother’s best friend all over again. But this time, the stakes are higher. This time she’s in danger. And the man who put her there is now her husband.
Can Jesse protect her and piece Ella’s heart back together . . . or will he shatter it for good?
From Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Brittney Sahin, comes a thrilling new standalone romance military novel with no cliffhanger and a happily-ever-after.
Brittney Sahin began writing at an early age, with the dream to be a published author before the age of 18. Although academic pursuits (and, later, a teaching career) interrupted her aspirations, she never stopped writing—never stopped imagining.
It wasn’t until her students encouraged her to follow her dreams that Brittney said goodbye to Upstate New York in order to start a new adventure in the place she was raised: Charlotte, North Carolina. Here, she decided to take her students’ advice and begin to write again.
In 2015, she published her first novel, The Safe Bet. When she is not working on upcoming novels, she spends time with her family. She is a proud mother of two boys and a lover of suspense novels, coffee, and the outdoors.
Loking back, this book frustrated me too much to get a 3.5. It's a good thing I didn't round it up.
Original review:
3.5 stars
It is as much the book's responsibility to hold your attention as it is your responsibility to give the book your attention. - Ankur Warikoo
I'm definitely in the minority but I can't find it in myself to care. Never saw this coming but oh well... Fair warning, this is going to be long.
We met Jesse and Ella in Chasing Daylight (A.J and Ana's book), which is one of my favourites by Sahin. There was this tension between them that could be cut with a knife and you could feel on your skin. As a reader, you felt compelled to read their story and know what's really cooking. We got bits and pieces about them in Chris and Rory's book and The Hunted one (Sav and Griff). Basically, all these tiny cameos or snippets made you think that their love was one of great turmoil and it could be happy-time for them if only Jesse took his head out of his ass. Hohoho how fucking wrong everyone was....
I don't go for second chance romances because usually there are other partners during the separation. Or if an author is feeling extra dicky, it's the h who's a born again virgin while the H is busy whoring it up with the pretense of "trying to forget his one true love" 🙄 But I was willing to put my personal issues aside and was actually excited to read their book because it's been a long time coming. They've been in love for 17 fucking years. They should get their HEA, yes? Sad to say, by the time this book ended, I didn't really care what happened to them. But I still kept on because of the secondary characters and I felt some kind of loyalty towards the author and the characters she's given me. And because I'm kinda anal about finishing a book I pick up.
The Romance: The first 50% of the story was constant back and forth between Jesse and Ella. They had one weekend in New York where Ella propositioned him but no kissing allowed (🙄), he asked her to promise that she would move on after and she ACCEPTED. She fucking accepted the deal and went forward with their weekend. There's a lot of other drama in relation to them from the books I mentioned above, that is referenced here. Not really in a mood to explain all the OM shit, who Ella was going to marry. Almost did, but she called it off at the last moment🥱
There's SO MUCH angst and bullshit, it hurt my brain and heart. Some people live for this shit but I couldn't take it. She's crying about how Jesse will never be with her blah blah but she refuses to wonder why. She's constantly saying in her internal monologue how J would go crazy if someone hurt her or flirted with her so it's not like she's unaware! But in the next moment she cries about him not loving her ughhhhh! Then lo and behold, the last 30%, where Bama girl just has a change of heart and is okay with everything🙂 Ella is supposedly sassy and stubborn as hell. While I could see the latter in abundance, apart from the prologue, no sass was to be found. Or maybe we just have different definitions of sass 🤷♀️
The saving grace was that neither Jesse or Ella slept with/touched other people during their 3 year separation. Even though Ella was supposed to get married, she never slept with the guy. It's VERY rare to see the male lead being celibate during separations, so I appreciate it. Safe to say, I really liked Jesse.
The Hypocrisy: The Hawkins(ella) and McAdams(jesse) families are supposed to be very close and tightly knit. Unfortunately, I did not see it. Apart from Savanna, Jack and Ella's mom, everyone was atop their high horses and treated Jesse like shit. NO ONE WAS ON HIS SIDE. Not Rory, his sister who I never really liked, not his best friend, though he did come around much later, definitely not his fuck of a dad who beat him all through his childhood and verbally abused him. The entire first half of the book was everyone telling Jesse to man up and blaming him for his job. He was a CIA assassin after his stunt in the military and a job gone wrong brought danger to Ella and her family. EVERYONE would give him these disgusted looks and were plain mean to him. No one gave a fuck about what he was going through or what he had to say. This comes under hypocrisy because A.J himself along with his friends, works clandestine operations for POTUS. You're judging Jesse when he was doing his damn job just like you?! I was disappointed in A.J and Rory in this book. One upset me with his hypocrisy and one with her sheer lack of understanding or compassion for her own damn brother.
My heart hurt for Jesse throughout the book. I wanted to comfort him and hug him tight. Reading his internal thoughts was painful and I cried a couple of times. He had a rough childhood with his dick of a dad and the feeling of being broken which I could relate to. He would constantly say he's broken but no one really gave a shit? They're like "why does he say that, huh wonder what he means". Can we just stop with the judgement and just support him?! The man is severely depressed with past trauma and is hurting pretty bad. If the author would have been like yay he found love so now he's healed, I would have been super mad. I wanted him to get therapy and just be. Good thing Sahin makes her men and women not shy away from getting professional help. Chris started getting help in his book and Rory followed. Apparently, Jesse was getting help for the past year or so, and for that I'm grateful. Love is powerful but love can't solve depression. It could be a catalyst but it takes a lot effort and courage to work through your problems. Finding love doesn't mean your issues disappear; and if you think it does, then the word you're looking for is codependency.
Another thing I appreciated about Jesse is that even when he was judged for his job, he never regretted it. He was working for his country and was proud of it. He couldn't change his past, his time with the CIA, and if he were honest with himself, he wouldn't want to either. Yes, his time in the army had taken him away from Ella, but he'd been serving his country which was something he couldn't regret.
The suspense/action: It picks up only after the halfway mark. The next 20% is exciting and kept me on my toes. There's another lull in the story and the last 10% is jam packed. The action was good but all the issues mentioned above ruined my reading experience. I just wanted to get it over with.
Side characters: I always thought that Gray and Sydney would be end game but Syd and Beckett would be interesting to watch, especially since I'm done with second chances for a long, long time. Zoey and Carter will have an emotional story is all I can say. That man has a lot of hurt to let go of before he can find his happiness. I love Growly Griffin and my Sweet Sav. Their story had angst too, but never did they act like immature idiots, which is why they'll always be my favourites.
There's a lot from my notes that I haven't put in, like the 50+ highlights where I wanted to throw my kindle across the room or break something on Jesse's behalf. I always knew that this story would break my heart and also piece it back together. Unfortunately, my excitement was doused by the unnecessary and unreasonable angst that hardly made sense to me. There are people who like that stabby feeling in your tummy that angst gives you, but I am not one of them and no writing is good enough to tolerate it. My unhealthy habit of not dnf-ing books and misplaced hope that it would get better forced me to finish this 🤡
I would have rounded up the 3.5 stars but a good epilogue doesn't cancel out the frustration that more than half the story gave me. I'll read the next one when it comes out and hope for the best.

What do you get when you mix one part gruffy, former Army Ranger. One part southern belle who is gorgeous, sweet as pie with sass to boot and add in a fake marriage, to help stop a killer?? Duh! You get one amazing book, that is what we get.
Jesse and Ella's story is here!! (School girl happy dance complete with a squeal) I have patiently awaited this book since reading AJ's book. Was it worth the wait you ask... ummm is the sky blue? Yes, it was well worth the wait!!!
Jesse, oh my goodness this poor guy is put through the ringer. I wanted to insert myself in this book and give him a hug myself. Jesse was going to have a past, with being apart of Special Forces, he was going to have losses which we know is not going to be easy on anyone, but I think that has an impact the average person cannot even begin to understand along with a few surprises I did not see coming for this gruff Alpha. Several of which absolutely broke my heart. (Yes, you heard me. Broke my heart and caused tears. So you have been warned) Jesse has to learn that the challenges he has faced in his life have made him who he is and regardless of how he views himself, The broken one. He is not unworthy. He is whole but will he be able to get past this label he has given himself and let Ella in? All while a killer is on the loose and messing with him, his team and the only person Jesse has ever loved?? Guess you need to read and find out huh?😉
I don't know how she comes up with her plots that keeps you wondering and solving the problem right along with the characters.
Brittney has once again given us a story that has exceeded expectations, her books continue to captivate from the very first chapter and just when you think there is no way she can top her last book, She simply says challenge excepted, and boom another hit! Thanks for bringing us Jesse and Ella this book was wonderful!
……. I am stunned and just don’t know what words I can use to give this book the justice it deserves. I have a book hangover! 🥴 I have been super excited for Ella and Jesse’s story since they were introduced to us in A.J. Hawkins’ book Chasing Daylight from the Stealth Ops series by Sahin. Sahin has a good way of introducing future characters by giving us just enough to intrigue us and want more but not too much so as not to give away everything. When Sahin posted about Jesse and Ella being apart of Falcon Falls security and showed us a little of his bad assery (yes, that is a word) in The Hunted One… I was very excited to dig in to Jesse McAdams and let me tell ya! I wasn’t disappointed. Put your current book boyfriends on the back burner.. HELLO JESSE McADAMS! Ella Hawkins makes me smile and want to root “hell yeah, girl” for her sassiness. I myself am a southerner so I could easily read her southern girl sass I had the overwhelming urge to high five this chick. Lol!
Brittney, Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your team and allowing me to indulge on these awesome stories. I keep saying “it can’t get better than this” but you some how manage to continue to top yourself. Your imagination is amazing and you take us on such a realistic journey through these well written stories. I can’t wait for the next one! 🤐
Brittney Sahin’s newest novel in her Falcon Falls Security Series, “The Broken One,” broke my heart, then gathered up all the pieces and put them back together again, all while taking my mind on an adrenaline-filled journey through suspense and intrigue that Brittney is so well known for. The fully and deeply developed, well thought out storyline and characters create an incredibly suspenseful plot with serious steam and solid emotional intensity between main characters Jesse and Ella. Sahin weaves an emotional tapestry around her full range of characters, including the entire Falcon Falls team and Jesse and Ella’s families. The emotional connection between the readers and the characters becomes even stronger because of the build up to their story in prior books. Apparently Jesse's looks are not all that make him lethal, and Ella Mae’s sass and strength are everything readers have come to expect from a Sahin heroine. Readers have been pulling for Jesse and Ella Mae to wind up together since they first hit the pages of Sahin’s books in “Chasing Daylight,” and “The Broken One” absolutely did their story justice. Living in the Falcon Falls Security world was pure joy and heartache of the best kind. I cannot wait for the next novel in this series.
This book…there just aren’t enough words. I really thought after the ending of the stealth ops series, I’d have a bit of a void left, and have a hard time getting into the “bamma” series but Brittney continues to slay us with book two of the Falcon Falls series. I hate to say I didn’t want to see Jesse and Ellas book so soon; boy was I wrong. From page 1, this book had me captivated. The sadness intertwined with the action and romance is seriously something to behold. I’m still waiting with baited breath for Carter’s story, but damn, she keeps outdoing herself!! Wonderfully woven story. Cant wait to see what these boys get up to next!
From the first sentence to the last you will not be able to put it down. You will laugh, cry and swoon with all the emotions in the book. If you have followed the journey of Jesse and Ella's up and down romance, you will love the journey to the end of the book.
Homerun again! I always have a hard time writing reviews but I highly recommend reading this book. If you have read any other Brittney books you know this is as good as the last. And If you haven’t read any of her books….start now! You can feel the chemistry of Jesse and Ella and we finally get to see where that takes them after teasers in previous books.
Jesse and Ella’s story grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go till the last word! Just a wonderful read. These two have been dancing around their feeling for each other since they were kids. When circumstances throw them into a “fake” marriage let the fun begin. How everything plays out makes for a phenomenal read, with a wonderful ending. Absolutely loved it!
Every single book by Brittney Shaun has been fabulous. Her witting style makes the reader feel immersed into the story and a part of the action. The storyline always has enough suspense to keep the adrenaline pumping, while the sizzling chemistry between the alpha hero and his lady capture your romantic heart.
This book blew me away in how emotional it was to see Jesse and Ella finally get their chance together. It was oh so special to see the depth of emotion they had for each other. Jesse is so much more than we realized from his appearances in previous books, and wow has he been through the wringer! I’m so thrilled with how Brittney wrote his story and allowed us to get to know the real Jesse along with Ella as she uncovers who he really is and all he has been through.
Ella is a spitfire and isn’t used to Jesse’s world, but she loves her man and wants to be at his side even if she’s mad as hell at him, feeling hurt by his secrets or scared by the events around them. She’s an everyday type woman who deeply loves her man, and has loved him since she was a teenager.
This book was spectacular and even though Brittney apologized to us readers in her FB group for how long it is - I’m thankful for each extra word because I never wanted this book to be over. Usually I can’t read fast enough, but this book I savored as I consumed it because it was just immensely satisfying and a joy to experience.
I’m eager for the next books in this world, and as I read I was anticipating a different couple being next. I was wrong, but I think Brittney’s choice will be oh so interesting to learn more about.
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jesse and Ella Mae’s story is full of so much angst but the way they come together after years of loving each other from a distance… I felt Jesse’s pain in every single word but he has met his match with Ella. When danger finds its way to the Hawkin Ranch there’s no stopping the Falcon guys to help out their brother in arms. Brittney has done it again as she always does!!
This book was as top #5 on bestseller list on Amazon for Romance. The writing is actually amazing. But I just wasn’t with enough patience to read 422 pages of some guy saying he isn’t good enough for her or that he is too broken to be with her and that she deserves better… yeah, yada yada yada… 🙄
I don’t buy it. When a guy is really in love, he fights tooth and nails for her, moves the moon just to be with her. Simple as that.
So no! Don’t give me this kind of BS and tell me this is a romance. For me this sounds more like excuses from a guy that really does not want the girl but doesn’t really want to hurt her feelings.
If you don’t think that when a man loves a woman there isn’t anything that will keep him away from getting her, then this book may be for you. But it wasn’t for me.
So good, and not what I had expected from Jesse... so much hidden from everyone, and Ella's response to learning the truth was realistic to say the least. They are fire together, always have been.. but thats also how people get burned. Several twists and close calls and tense moments to lead to the surprises yet to come...
I don't know how Brittney does it, but she seems to always out do herself with each book she puts out. Jesse and Ella were WOW. Jesse had me feeling all the emotions. You know he has been holding back from Ella Mae, but you never understood why. Especially when you could feel the emotions between them two in other books. I cried quite a bit, but also laughed and smiled. Ella is a strong character, and I love how Brittney does that, I love strong female leads. You felt all the ups and downs with the characters, and even had cameos by A.J., Chris and Rory. I love how she does that too.
"Because Jesse did more than break my heart. I think he broke me too. He broke so much of me," she cried. "And I'm just not sure if he can help me put the pieces back together."
"I've always known you were the one, Ella Mae. There's never been anyone but you," he said slowly. "You were with me in Iraq even though you didn't know it. I had your picture with me. Always. Yours was the first face I looked at when I woke and the last face I saw before going to sleep."
How can you not feel the emotion in that? I love these two, and am so happy to finally have read their book! You get the suspense, the mystery, and the action along with emotions and relationships. What more can you want?
Wow! I wonder how Brittney Sahin does it! Every new book is fresh and exciting! The Broken One is full of excitement, Jesse and Ella have a lot of history and this book is full of emotional ups and downs as they figure out what they are to each other. A chuckle, a few tears and some sexy scenes will have you all wrapped up in the pages of this one! A must read you won’t be disappointed!
Brittney Sahin is one of my favorite authors. With each book, every story gets better and better. “The Broken One” with Ella and Jesse had some of the best angst filled tension that exceeded my expectations.
Anyone with two working eyes can see that Ella and Jesse have strong feelings for each other. They have skated around their feelings for years. But one weekend in New York with no promises of a future left them both wanting more. However, Jesse never thought he was good enough for Ella. But when a mistake from his past comes back and threatens Ella, he does whatever he needs to do to protect her and end the threat.
Ella and Jesse have quickly become two of my favorites from Brittney Sahin’s world. Both were so relatable to me and I quickly bonded with who they are. Ella is fiery and independent who does not mess around. Jesse is a tortured soul who thought he was doing what was best for Ella and keeping her at arm’s length. But when two souls are meant to be with each other, the universe has its way of working it out. The plot of this story is action packed and had twists that I didn’t see coming. Brittney is a master at sneaking in little nuggets of information and then bringing it in to mash it all together. I am loving the Falcon Falls series and I can’t wait for even more from the series.
Ahh, Jesse...I knew I would love this book. The Ella/Jesse story has been simmering on the back burner for awhile now. It was due to boil over and it did. I wondered if Falcon Falls would be able to maintain my constant interest, like the previous series....I can assure you it has.The insight into some of the demons that plague Jesse explain so much. Despite the fact that I've read the books leading up to this, Brittany Sahin was still able to sneak in some little surprises. I love the way that not only are her alpha male characters the kind most women dream of, but her female characters are just as fierce. I now await the next Falcon Falls story, like a child waits for Christmas morning!
I liked this book. Ella has been in love with Jesse forever and three years ago they took it to the physical level but then he pushed her away and told her to move on. So she tried. She dated and she even got engaged, but I'm truly don't know why. She was smart though and broke it off the night before the wedding because she loved Jesse. Now she's in the crosshairs of a crazy assassin because of Jesse. As he is so protective. I loved his possesiveness and the love he had for her. Even though Ella was engaged she never was intimate with him. I didn't get that either but it's what she said. And then you find out he hasn't even touched a woman since that weekend with Ella. I liked that. Normally he would cat around because he could but he didn't. There is a lot of thriller action with the assassin, the guy who hired him and the CIA or whatever it was. Plus the hunks of Falcon Falls. I read this out of order but I don't feel I missed too much. I did like the style of writing and I might read some more in this series. The only disappointing thing was that the sex scenes were just a little too raunchy for me. It's like I felt their connection but not during the intimate moments. They were kind of pornish. But that is just me. I don't want fade to black but I would still like it to be romantic and intimate. And romantic they are not. But I still liked the story. I have been afraid to read it because of the separation but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Glad I read it.
I have been waiting on this one for a while. It was so worth any wait! Jesse and Ella are off the charts in every category. Jesse McAdams has been in love with Ella Hawkins since she was 17. But life hasn't allowed him to have her. Ella Hawkins has been in love with Jesse for even longer than that. But getting Jesse to admit they belong together? Forever? She can't even get a kiss! Then Jesse's past comes after Ella, and all bets are off. Now they are "fake" married, on their way to Paris, and his team is along for the "honeymoon." If your looking for a book with emotional tugging between the main characters; heat off the charts; a story line outside of the romance that keeps you guessing; and extra angst (cause why not?) Any Brittney Sahin book will do. If you want it at her best? Read this one. Her latest. She just better each book!
The Broken One is book 2 in Brittney Sahin’s Falcon Falls Security series. And, boy it does not disappoint.

Because of their long history of Jesse steering thinking he’s protecting Ella from his insecurities and not being “the man she deserves”, it’s impossible not to root for Jesse and Ella to find their middle ground and happy.
Brittney Sahin, you’ve done it again. Amazing read!!
Loved this story and can’t wait for more from Falcon team!!
What a read!! This is the second book in Brittney Sahin's Falcon Falls Security series, and takes you through Jesse and Ella's story.
I couldn't put it down, and am still reeling from the trip this book took me on.
I am one who gets pretty immersed in what I'm reading, and I LOVE the way Brittney Sahin brings her characters to life on the page, so I am not at all surprised by how much I loved this book...but Holy Hannah the FEELS!
I went from liking Jesse at the beginning, to wondering if I had been wrong to like him, to wanting to smack him with a stick, to wanting to give him a hug, and back to loving him. The journey this book takes you on can only be described as epic, and while I know I have said this before, I think this is Brittney's best work to date.
Brittney Sahin has done it again! I was sucked in from the Prologue! The twists and turns and the angst between Jesse and Ella had me on the edge of my seat through the whole story!
My heart broke for Jesse and Ella and all they went through to be with the person they secretly loved their whole lives.
This is a wonderful story that will keep you in suspense until the end! Enjoy the ride!
I don’t even know where to start. If you read each of her books, you have been waiting for these two characters to end up together for quite a while, and this story gave you more than you bargained for. You finally got to learn more about Jesse (which we all wanted-don’t lie ), and you get to see Ella really show her southern roots- it’s amazing and everything I wanted and More.
Such an amazing read! Jesse and Ella’s story is so intense and causes you to feel every emotion with them. Brittney Sahin keeps writing stories that some how keep getting better each time, such a great story by an amazing author.
Once in awhile you stumble upon an author who just gets better with every book she writes. You end one and sigh wondering how she could top the one you just finished. The Broken One was incredible. It was full of suspense and intrigue. The storyline flowed so smoothly and questions about characters were answered. Fantastic writing as always! Definitely five stars. Looking forward to the next adventure!!
I’m not sure how it’s possible, but my goodness, Brittney Sahin has written a book that is absolute perfection.
Ella Mae Hawkins and Jesse McAdams have been dancing around each other for what seems like a lifetime. It’s been a two step of happiness, a tango of bitterness, and a waltz of yearning for more. They’ve lived a lifetime of regret in just a few short years. One willing to go all in and the other running to escape.
Ella is simply perfection in the eyes of Jesse. She’s a talented teacher, budding designer, his perfect cowgirl, and the love of his life even if she can’t be in his life. Jesse knows that his past is more than Ella Mae could ever understand or accept. He has his own demons. Ghosts that won’t leave. It doesn’t matter that his sins were committed for the betterment of others.
But when danger comes looking for Ella because of Jesse, he’ll turn the world upside down to protect her. This woman is fierce. She may have her own fears but she won’t let this scenario outdo her. She accepts the situation and even makes a plan to rectify it alongside Jesse. But the solution is a fake marriage to the man she loves. The man that has owned her heart and probably always will. And Jesse, he doesn’t know if he can pretend.
But when the two have to go on the hunt for one of the most feared and dangerous men known to the likes of Jesse and Falcon Falls Security, secrets are revealed. Secrets that could end all hopes and possibilities, any future.
But as Ella watches the man Jesse truly is, her thoughts and feelings change. But can she change a man that believes he has no redemption? Jesse always believed he was beyond saving.
“I don’t know, brother. I just know Gray says he wasn’t greeted at the pearly white gates, and he said after the sh!t he’d done in his life, he hadn’t been surprised. But he was given another chance, and he was going to do his best to earn his way off Hel!’s waiting list.”... “And you think people can find redemption?”“F#ck, I hope so. Or aren’t we all going to He\l?”... “I know I’ve got front-row seats to that inferno if not.”
Is Ella Mae his saving grace?
This couple fought so many battles. Hearts were broken. Hopes shattered. But their fight to overcome was overwhelming. Ella Mae was such an amazing heroine. Her fire is unmatched. And Jesse, just WOW! I fell fast and hard for this man. The lengths and sacrifices he made for the woman he loved. He simply gutted my heart and soul. This installment temporarily sated my need for more of this Series but I’m definitely hungry for more.
For anyone that has fallen into and in love with Brittney’s Stealth Ops guys, and then quickly with the Falcon Falls bunch after The Hunted One, we’ve been waiting (not so patiently!) for Jesse and Ella’s story. It’s been built over 5 books, Brittney being the queen of slow burn and suspense building. And she did not disappoint in the slightest! Their story is EXACTLY how it should be! Jesse’s back story matched the amount of angst and sadness we’ve been seeing-AND more. To get all his pieces devastated me! But the way Ella loved him thru that-the suspense and the danger, the absolute SPICE and explosion that came when they finally got together-ah! So good! I mean, chapter 14…enough said there! Absolutely nothing left out, no disappointment in this long awaited match up, just perfection!
I wasn’t ready for this book to end! I fell in love with Jesse and Ella in Chasing Daylight (A.J.’s book). I love how Brittney can introduce you to characters in other books, make you intrigued in their stories, and then give us a book to complete their story, and does it in a completely new and different way each time. This book was just perfection in telling Jesse and Ella’s story, from the backstory, to all the angsty tension, and how they are finally able to come together. I will definitely be re-reading in anticipation for the next book (which again Brittney did an amazing job leading into and has we all excited for!)
This is one of my favorites. I’ve needed to know more about the broody Jesse for a long, long time. This book did not disappoint. Totally thrilling, non-stop twists and turns. Just when you think you’ve figured it out…the story changes. The only thing that WAS consistent, the insane chemistry between Ella and Jesse. Even when they were fighting, the chemistry was hot! This book is full of alpha males, sassy and strong women, and dangerous situations. I have no idea how she does it, but Brittney’s done it again!
Ah, Jesse and Ella. What else can I say? This was fantastic just like every other thing Brittney writes, and I am super, SUPER excited for the next one!!! Like UBER excited.
This book has absolutely crushed every single expectation I had for Jesse and Ella. A slow burn that was built throughout her other books, Brittney had their chemistry jumping off the pages! The attention to detail with such a thick plot is second to none! Your nose will be stuck in this book, caught in the world that Brittney has built that is Falcon Falls.
Old threats arise from a life Jesse left behind, putting Ella( and everyone she loves) in the sights of a madman. Jesse will do anything to keep her safe, but will he finally feel deserving of her love if he succeeds to eliminate the threat? Their story is deeply emotional, suspenseful, and of course scorching HOT! If I could give this book 10 stars it wouldn’t be enough.
