It was so good. I’m pretty sure the third book is about Charlotte again. The second book is not though.

So for this “Filler Book”, I par took in a beta reading of a book that comes out later this year called The Bright Spot. This book was written by a good friend of mine and even though it’s still in draft form, has things that need tweaking, this story is incredible. I had fun with the read as it takes the reader on a unique and unexpected journey through a world not that different from our own. There’s so many exciting elements of this book that I can’t wait for others to finally get to read it. Oh and the setup for the next story is absolutely shocking!

“Viva la Revolution” by Rizzlewrites - I’m on a kick. Hat’s off to this author and her brilliant brain. The story manages to capture one’s interest from the onset and walk willingly through the pummeling of emotions to the very end. As always, I love that this author hits a point and makes it with finesse. In this case, the painful beauty of being liberated and free to truly make choices.

The Mind Once Bright by MountainWoods

Enjoyable read! One of the more well-written Hermione/Tom Riddle fanfictions. This fanfiction featured a darker Hermione, which is almost necessary in order to create a believable relationship between the two characters. Fic ended well, and had an overall intriguing plot and solid writing. Hope to see more from the author in future!

What….the actual fuck?
First time i’ve marked a book as DNF
Sorry, the book was well, absolutely nothing like what i was expecting. Of course I had wanted to read it since i absolutely loved the show, but the book? Oh please no.
To start, no “hi, how are you?” and RIGHT into it.
A series of things that i just did not enjoy from this.
1. Khun Dad/Daddy - It was very toned down in the show, only said like once or twice? Seriously was easy to overlook. But in the book, oh my it’s used so much it was unbearable.
2. NC Scenes - Too many. Honestly i feel like 90% was focused just on this aspect. Honestly i didn’t even think there was a plot to the book at first. Still struggled to even see one at the end.
3. MPREG? - Yeah, self explanatory. I didn’t even know it was labeled as that until someone had made a note about it. I had generally always avoided this genre, something about it just wasn’t for me. I’ve always hated any pregnancy trope honestly. Glad it didn’t make it into the series….
4. Series adaptation vs book - Series was so much better. About 10% of the book was what was used for the actual series. The book was basically straight up smut, little to no plot, and really the writing style was underwhelming. (Seemed very repetitive i guess). I feel like MosBank did a great job making the series not cringe.
5. MosBank - Love them. Do not love the fact i’m ready this book after have watching the series. There are a lot of scenes which are just…no. And people keep making note “Oh i’m imagining MosBank blah blah blah.” Like no. Just stop there. It’s one thing talking about scenes they actually did act out, but some of those scenes are not added into the series FOR A REASON. It’s weird as fuck to imagine them in some of these scenes also. Keep actors separate from book characters.
6. Writing style - I read it in Indonesian/English, so that was a part of it. Great thanks to translators doing their best, considering the original was written differently than normal Thai, But still. It was a very cringe(?) writing style. Making P’Lin seem hella childish, which just is offsetting considering their ages.
7. AGE - I don’t mind age gaps. You see it often. But this age gap? P’Lin is 22, where Surieyn is 34. That’s a 12 year gap. Where usually okay, it wouldn’t bother me, but P’Lin is still considered “too young” on my behalf.
8. Skipping - A lot of information seemed to be skipped over. Like P’Lin at first didn’t want his friends to know who he had been talking to too, and suddenly next chapter they know who it is. No scene or anything. Doesn’t talk about the whole gem/dragon necklace design as i hoed it would. It just seemed to skip over a lot of things and throw information in at random points.
I could probably go on. Overall, i did not enjoy this book. There were a few cute scenes and scenes that were sentimental, but really not much. Final verdict: Don’t bother reading the book, it’s not worth it. If you want to actually enjoy this plot, just watch the show.

as an avid reader of beeyotch for nearly 10 years now, tbh, this is underwhelming.

the bland writing, flat and no personality characters, omitted details, mostly all tell than showing scenes, lazy writing, the weird pacing, lack of build up, filler chapters, lack of motivation and depth from characters on the premise— it’s hard not to be disappointed. this lazy writing is not the beeyotch i know.

the redundant “i am saffron borromeo,” threw me off. it was cool at first but when it was repeated constantly to be something like mind-conditioning, it became too cringey. it’s not giving diva, it just made her reeked of arrogance. when she started to become so pressured out of nowhere, i can’t sympathize with her. kasi why? i can’t even see the part when she was pressured or what drove her to her panic attacks?? it was so sudden and random.

milo delgado is the blandest mmc of beeyotch i’ve read so far. where’s the fire that we usually find sa mmc ni beeyotch that made us fall in love with them? it seemed like author is trying to make him look mysterious but it just came out as boring and rude guy. he’s a red flag for sending mixed signals and then went on chasing saffron after he’s realized that she’s no longer interested in her.

i was soo excited that this is an academic rivals trope, only to be disappointed (again). is the chemistry and tension even in the room with us? the lack of build up killed me. i don’t even get what made saffron fell in love with milo lmao

and then the conflict with iñigo came up… i can’t help but to ask if beeyotch ran out of any creative juices to end with iñigo being the “issue” again?? wala na ba talagang ibang pwedeng problem?? bunot na bunot na si iñigo.

after this “conflict,” the two characters tried to keep the relationship going but ofc saffron was spiraling, they eventually broke up. it’s nice seeing saffron grow after that, but milo just disappeared and the chapters that followed were so uneventful. ngl, the coffee from saffron every day was cute, but what did milo do?? he failed to meet her half way. i know he’s broke but i wished he did something cute too to redeem himself but nah, he once again made saffron work for it. para kang gold, bro 😭

beeyotch is good on how to convey emotions kapag depressed na ang mga characters niya but the lack of build up ruins that. it came out soo random so idgaf. the last chapters were cute but the lack of tension didn’t make the payoff that satisfying.

if only beeyotch delivered a better foundation for this couple, more funny banters, more personality from each character, higher stake—this story would have worked.

genuinely such a beautiful piece of art. the slow burn really slow burned in this book my god it was perfect.
their meeting was precious from the start and i loved their little meet ups of when they’d run together and sirius’s adorable complaining. their pining was everything. i loved the switching pov’s too it kept me feddddd.

sirius is so so special to me and i appreciated the way the author approached his trauma. it was hard watching him struggle with his “scary parts” but i’m glad he allowed himself to be happy.

other mentions:
* when sirius ignored remus (this part pissed me off soooo much) but i ate up the angst hahah
* the jeff buckley mention!! my other fav book mentioned his album too so this excited me :)
* just remus and sirius being love sick fools who were obsessed with each other and doing literally anything for each other
