The Little Cornish Kitchen #2

Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen

Rate this book
St Aidan: a cozy Cornish village where friendships are made for life and it's always cocktail hour somewhere...Now the Little Cornish Kitchen is going on tour!

When internet sensation Cressida Cupcake has a soggy-bottomed TV fiasco and faces bake-off backlash, she jumps at the chance to spend some time hiding out in St Aidan, dog sitting for her brother.

Picturesque Seaspray Cottage is meant to be Cressy Hobson's port in the storm, but with her blog sponsors having fled and her book deal gone sideways, her funds are running low and she's forced to turn to the locals for help. Soon her quiet weeks in Cornwall are filled with chasing sheep, saving the local retirement village, taking The Little Cornish Kitchen into people's homes for baking nights--and keeping vigilant guard against romance.

The one and only time Cressy lost her head to love was over a decade ago while in St Aidan, and she won't be making the same mistake again--a feat easier said than done when Ross Bradbury looks even better a decade later and when every step she takes seems to put him in her path.

4☆ A Scrumptious Uplifting Romance

Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen Is the second book in this charming series. Although it can be read as a standalone and I have read the first book it was quiet a while a go and I struggled at first to get into the book.
But once I settled in again there was plenty of laughs to be had and tummy rumbling.

This time we have Cressida with her Cupcake fame she's an Internet sensation, but she has taken a bit of a knocking.
So she's come to Cornwall to house and dog sitting for her brother, to take time out to re-evaluate things and create a new Cookbook comeback!

But things are not easy for Cressida and all she wants to do is hideaway.
However the Mermaids have other ideas. When her sister-in-law has asked them to take Cressida under their wing as an honorary Mermaid.

Can Cressida Cupcake turn her life back round, find love and not get herself into too much trouble along the way especially with the loveable pupster Diesel who is one cheeky Fur Baby lol

So if you are looking for a Feel-good, Uplifting Romance that will have your tummy rumbling with all the Scrumptious goodies, a gorgeous setting and plenty of laughs and smiles along the way, then your in for a real treat with Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen

Thank you to Rachel Random Resources for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Internet sensation ‘Cressida Cupcake’ finds her career in free fall after a soggy bottomed TV fiasco. Taking refuge from the cruelty of social media keyboarders, Cressy agrees to look after her brother Charlie’s dog Diesel while she hides out in St Aiden. Charlie and wife Clemmie are undergoing IVF treatment. After all how much trouble can one dog be? But trouble comes from another source entirely.
Seaspray cottage in Cornwall is meant to be a refuge for Cressy. Instead she finds herself taken under the care of Clemmie’s friends and roped into a range of activities she had never bargained for. These include ways to help try and save the local retirement village. She also meets up again with Ross Bradbury who broke her heart when she was nineteen. Ten years later he looks just as good as he did back then. Despite her best attempts to avoid him, Ross seems be too often in Cressy’s vicinity. His presence causes all sorts of issues.
It took me a while to get into this book, perhaps because it is book two in the series and I had not read book one. But I'm more inclined to think I am not the target age group for this book. It took me a while to care about Cressy. I suspect younger readers than this old duck might relate to her better. However, I did get into it in time and did enjoy it, even though some of the antics struck me as being over the top. But as a I said different age groups with different ideas.
St Aidan’s sounds like a place it is easy to get sucked into. Though the story is predictable from the word go, it is an engaging read, even if at times it did seem to go on too long. But anyone looking for a light, chick lit read of friendship, community and romance should enjoy it.

Despite the writer’s reassurances that this book can easily be read as a stand-alone, I strongly disagree. True, central characters change over the novels, but you really do miss out on their history and connections with one another. I felt like I was walking into the middle of a series that I had little clue of the background, leaving me struggling to get to grips with the supporting characters and frustrated that I did not know enough about them.

I don’t think it helps that this is not the most original of stories. Cressy flees London after an abysmal appearance on a baking competition where, despite being famous for her internet videos, fails to create a perfect bake on television. Slaughtered online, she comes to St Aidan’s in order to lie low, re-group and work on her recipe book. But, in the aftermath of such bad publicity, her ideas are rejected by the publisher and Cressy needs to come up with some quick-buck ideas before becoming completely bankrupt. And this is where her baking tours originate.

Supported by her sister-in-law’s group of friends, Cressy takes her baking to the houses of St Aidan’s. They are a bit like beauty evenings, just involving cake, flour and plenty of mess! With such a supportive team behind her, Cressy soon realises she quite enjoys interacting with the public and demonstrating baking techniques. However, she is rather distracted by her old flame, Ross, who seems to pop up wherever she goes.

There is history between Cressy and Ross that is explained in the story. Yet, I still felt I was missing something between them and initially found both characters to be self-centred and arrogant. I could not warm to either until much later in the story; this definitely lessened my overall enjoyment of such a sunny, seaside novel. Furthermore, I grew frustrated by the delays in their obvious romance and just wanted the writer to hurry this along a bit more, rather than having to wait until the final few chapters for the predictable resolution.

Cressy’s friends are her sister-in-law’s friends, who is absent for most of the story. However, Cressy quickly slots in to the group, who seem to have an affinity with mermaids and nicknames, and takes them along with her baking journey. It does not seem as if they have anything else to do, and pop up in the story frequently. It felt as if Cressy was living with them. I did not understand this characterisation and did not feel it very realistic. In fact, rather than being shown as supportive, I thought the friends were more meddling and pushy.

Although I have my doubts about the narrative, I really enjoyed watching Cressy’s baking adventures. So much so, I felt inspired to reach for my apron and mixer. A lot of cake is consumed in this book (and I mean, a lot) and to be fair, the characters should be the size of houses! However, it added to the fun element of the story and I can’t wait to try some of Cressy’s recipes, particularly the cake in the mug bake.

Whilst the story is not the most original, I always have a weakness for baking and seaside escapes. This definitely did deliver but I do wish I had been able to visit St Aidan’s from the beginning of Linfoot’s writing, rather than coming aboard so far through the series. Many readers may not find this off-putting, but I found it unnerving that all these apparently familiar faces were appearing, all of whom I knew nothing about.

With thanks to One More Chapter, Harper Collins and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the story of Cressy Hobson's escape from fame
After a cooking mishap has her hiding in shame.
She goes to house and pet sit for her brother,
Whilst earning some money some way or another.

With Diesel the dog creating mischief and mayhem
And her first ever love turning up again.
The 'mermaids' are determined to help and befriend
And have her, with them, her time to spend.

With tasty cakes and brownies by the score
Can Cressy help the retirement village some more?
Baking nights and cupcake sales are mouthwatering treats
Working with friends proves to be

Hiding away isn't how things in St Aidan's are done,
Instead there are escapades and lots of fun!
Assumptions from relationships and drama in the past
Are impinging, forcing them to be faced at last.

Absolutely gorgeous, just what I really did need -
A poignant, delightful, moving and enchanting read!
Complete with community, new friends and mermaids,
The best kind of read from which dreams are made.

A standalone that's also a great addition to this series that's fun
With plenty of twists before all is done.
I thoroughly enjoyed my complementary copy, too
This is my honest review - I highly recommend this book to you!

Tea For Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen by Jane Linfoot is an excellent cozy, contemporary romance that has fun, love, tasty culinary delights, and a wonderful cast of characters that drew me in from page one. I loved it!

Cornwall is fabulous and it is equally awesome as a backdrop for escapes, second chances, and new hopes and dreams.

I loved the smooth, easy, and laid back, and engaging narrative. St. Aiden is the perfect village to return to and as the scene for Cressy Hobson’s fresh start and regrouping from a cluster of snafus that make up her current circumstances. As she is finding herself again, with romance rightfully on the back burner, a blast from the past, Ross Bradbury, pops up back into her world. Can they both find love again and rekindle a flame that was possibly never really snuffed out?

I really enjoyed following along on their journey to find out. Great cast of characters, fun dialogue, relaxing romantic read, and drooling descriptions of baked goods abound.

As a plus…tasty food and recipes!

This is an adorable second chance romance , with some of the nicest characters ever. This setting reminded me of my own summer holidays spent in sleepy little cornish villages, so friendly and community focused.
Cressy and Ross make a lovely couple, pair that with the yummy baking, and recipes in the back and you get a wonderful light hearted , amusing romance that will make you want to eat cake!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

What a fun, quick read that had me laughing out loud more then once.
The setting is in Cornwall by the beach.
Starting over, getting another chance and overcoming past mistakes.
Main character, Cressy, is a internet sensation with Cressida Cupcakes. Then, an unexpected situation arises that has Cressy escaping to a small, seaside village in Cornwall. Can she find peace here? Will she find love?
It was a wonderful story with great characters. And, the addition of yummy baked goods and recipes was a big plus.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

I have been a fan of Jane’s work for a while now. I haven’t read everything that she has written to date but I am getting there. I read the synopsis for ‘Tea For Two At The Little Cornish Kitchen’ and it certainly sounded like the sort of story I have come to expect from Jane – a fun, light hearted and ultimately heart warming story. Well it was certainly all that and so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Tea For Two At The Little Cornish Kitchen’ but more about that in a bit.
I loved the character of Cressy Hobson and I warmed to her from the start. In fact I ended up feeling as though she had become a friend of mine rather than a character in a book and I felt all protective towards her. Cressy is a lovely young lass, who has been through some tough times of late. She is an internet sensation with her own successful food blog and there was talk of a cookbook. Without going into too much detail, something happens which threatens to destroy her career. Cressy ends up going to dog sit for her brother in St. Aidan whilst he and his partner are abroad. Cressy is going to look after the dog, lie low and rebuild her life. Cressy also has to deal with some painful memories of St. Aidan. I kept everything crossed that she would be able to rebuild her life, deal with her past problems and have a blast of a time. What happens? Well for the answers to those questions and more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
‘Tea For Two At The Little Cornish Kitchen’ is actually the second book in ‘The Little Cornish Kitchen’ series. As with the first book, I was drawn into this story from the synopsis alone. As soon as I started reading, I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to put this book to one side for any length of time. I had taken so well to Cressy that I simply had to know how the story turned out for her and what implications this had for her future. To say that reading ‘Tea For Two At The Little Cornish Kitchen became addictive is a bit of an understatement. I would pick the book up only intending to read a couple of chapters but I would become so wrapped up in the lives and loves of the various characters that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the story. All too quickly I reached the end of the story and I had to say goodbye to Cressy and the others. I found ‘Tea For Two At The Little Cornish Kitchen’ to be a delight to read and I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of it. The story was heart warming and fun. On finishing reading ‘Tea For Two At The Little Cornish Kitchen’, I was left feeling as though I had had a hug from a mug of hot chocolate- in other words I was left feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
‘Tea For Two At The Little Cornish Kitchen’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Jane Linfoot. She has an easy going writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of her books feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading an actual book. I hope that makes sense. For me the story hit the ground running and maintained a gentle pace throughout. Jane clearly cares about her characters and this shines through in her work as she describes them so well and so thoroughly that the characters seem just as real as you and I. Jane describes St. Aidan so well and so convincingly that I almost packed a suitcase and travelled there as the place sounds like heaven. I loved the way in which Jane weaves humour into her stories and I especially loved reading about the shenanigans that the dog got up to. Being a dog owner myself, I couldn’t help but smile every time the dog did something that it shouldn’t. I love the way in which Jane makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story themselves and at the heart of the action. That’s how I felt at any rate.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Tea For Two At The Little Cornish Kitchen’ and I wholeheartedly recommend that you read it. I will certainly be reading more of Jane’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

I have read quite a few books by this author and this latest one is a wonderfully stunning and also poignant read. Set in the village of St. Aiden, Cornwall the author has brought this small coastal community to life.

Cressida, or Cressy as she prefers has come to St Aiden to pet sit for her brother and his wife. The timing is good for her as her career has taken a turn for the worse. She had a very good career on the internet from baking and sharing her recipes, tips and advice. However, this all went disastrously wrong when she appeared on a baking show.

She finds solitude to be her friend and has spent more time alone cultivating her internet persona to perfection that she has no time for anything else in her life. When she arrives in St Aiden, her sister in law has already lined a support system up for her. Cressy is polite but not that fussed. She also didn't realise that her old flame, Ross, was back in the village.

Tal;k about things tumbling down around her, the author really did go to town with Cressy. She then throws her headlong into a group of friends who are, well a bit bossy, but who actually is just what Cressy needs, even though she doesn't realise it.

The author does an amazingly mouthwatering job with cakes, brownies, blondies, sponges, meringues and a whole range of other delicious treats. It obviously fits in with the storyline as well as the title! The author has also made this a book about generations and this makes for some wonderful reading. Flirting and innuendos add a light touch to the story as does the antics of Diesel.

While this is a heartwarming and at times humorous story, the author touches on some very sad topics. For me, this is a way of keeping the storyline more realistic. It would be great if we could all live in a world without loss or of being scared. But life is as life is and that includes the sad times. The balance between the sadder themes is offset with some wonderful moments of hope for the future, second chances and starting afresh.

HEartwarming and wonderful from start to finish. This is definitely one for fans of contemporary fiction and romance as well as those who like stories with recipes. There is a selection of mouthwatering recipes at the end of the book as well. This is a book I would definitely recommend.

Make sure you have a steady stream of cakes, blondies, meringues, icing, cookies etc.. handy to munch on as you read this, or forever feel the hunger!

So lovely to be back in St. Aiden with a tale from Jane Linfoot, and this definitely works as a standalone novel.

Between the cute cat, fantastic dog, hunky vet, the friendship group that call themselves Mermaids, and some fabulous residents in a care home in addition to community spirit in spades, this is a fabulous place for Cressida to run to .

Especially after getting a whole bunch of internet trolling and needing to escape for a while, and she is housesitting for her brother, while trying to work out the mess her career has turned into.

I loved the concept of The Little Cornish Kitchen going on tour, and seeing how Cressida Cupcake would deal with various situations.

I was also hooked on her interactions with Ross, who has has past history with, but that I really fell for!

And Millie was easily one of my favourite characters, a 10 year old who is very switched on, has a habit of repeating things with the best comic timing, she's great!

I just loved every second I spent amongst these characters in this all so familiar setting. Just please Jane Linfoot don't make us wait so long for your next book!

Thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley and for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Such a lovely, cosy, nice, heartwarming read!

Isn't it great when you read a new author to you, you love the book and find out there are a lot of other books of hers you can dive into? Just great!!

We follow Cressida Cupcakes through her ups and downs in career and life as well, with a depth that it's not always common to a rom-com. The characters are lovley, the scenery spectacular and don't get me started on the baking!

Added bonus: there are a few recipes at the end of the book that you don't want to miss (yummy!!)

Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen is a sweet, delicious book that will satisfy that romance craving you may have.

This book is utterly adorable and just so sweet. It is the perfect cure to chase those winter blues away. Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen is technically a stand-alone (and can be read as one). But it is a continuation of The Little Cornish Kitchen book, which followed Clemmie and Charlie’s love story. I was a little overwhelmed while reading the first few chapters (just like Cressy was) because I was introduced to so many characters right away, and it felt like I should know them. That overwhelmed feeling did disappear as I became familiar with all the secondary characters in this book.

All the characters in this book are fun, relatable, and just so quirky at times. Cressy is a wonderful main character, and I loved watching as she opened her heart to new friends and the possibility of love with a man who broke her heart so many years ago. The scenes with the seniors in the retirement home were just so charming. They were just so much fun and full of life. I definitely teared up (in a happy way) while reading some of Cressy’s interactions with some of the seniors. Listening to them talk about their lives reminds me of all those chats I have with my Nanny at her kitchen table.

The romance between Cressy and Ross is a second chance and forced proximity romance. These two had a relationship back when they were in university, but things ended badly between the two of them. Cressy and Ross’s failed relationship would end up shaping how Cressy interacted with people around her. She built this wall around her heart and kept everyone at arm’s length. These two have the shock of their lives when they see each other at the café in St. Aidan. Things between these two become even more complicated when they end up being roommates for a few months (to help take care of Charlie and Clemmie’s pets).

I admit that the cover of Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen really drew my attention in - the promise tea and scones on the coast looked so very inviting. Once I started reading it became clear that if you love baking, dogs and romance then you will simply adore this book.

There are several themes in this book - baking (recipes provided at the end of the book), second chances, friendships, romance and the benefits of being part of a real community. It is certainly a lovely, feel good tale with a range of characters encountering all the goings on of village life. At times a little too drawn out for me with you really needing to appreciate dialogue heavy stories. So if loads of interaction and chatter of the various goings on in a tiny English village appeals, then this is certainly the book for you!

Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen provides a window into village life on the coast. If you enjoy character driven drama then you will relish this cast of people with their everyday adventures and incidental chatter not to mention the spectacular Cornish coast.

‘When I think how much I’ve looked forward to chilling by the sea and reconnecting with my happy place. And now I feel like a tidal wave has picked up my entire ordered, nicely level life and tumbled it to chaos.’

Want a feel good pick me up kind of book? One that will leave you on a high and wanting some sweet treats? Then this is a book for you!

In this book we are back to the lovely peaceful cornish village of St Aiden, this is definitely someone that I would love to be , the author describes it perfectly that you can feel like you are there when you close your eyes.

We meet Cressy (Cressida) Hobson, she is dog sitting for her brother to escape an embarrassing interview she had on TV. While she is there she starts running low on funds so turns to the local villagers to help, including chasing sheep! She decides to take The Little Cornish kitchen into people's homes for baking nights. While she is doing this her guard is up against falling in love... until see she's the man she feel for a decade ago!

This was such a lovely , sunshine type of book , the type that makes you feel warm inside. The characters are great to read about and follow in this journey. If you are a fan of romcom books there I'd suggest that you check it out

This is the perfect uplifting book for a cold and cloudy February day. I love how this author creates believable characters, dreamy romance and plenty of humorous moments in an idyllic Cornish setting.
Cressy is a successful internet baker, but a baking disaster threatens to destroy her fledgling career when social media turns against her.

Independent, she initially resists the community support and friendship St Aidan offers but not for long. Ross, the local vet, has a brief but traumatic history with Cressy, and his presence in the village is hard to ignore. The chemistry is undeniable, but both have internal conflicts to overcome to try again.

This is a lovely multi-generational story with relatable vibrant characters, humour, poignancy and romance.

This is the 1st book that I have read by this author, Jane Linfoot. I enjoyed her writing style although this book is written similar to a enemy to friends trope, which is not my favorite, to be honest.

What I did adore was the wonderful female friendships, the glorious baking and the misunderstanding resolved.

I did feel the story dragged a bit, probably due to me wanting the conflict resolved. I enjoyed the second half of the book more than the first half.

I want to thank HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter and NetGalley for allowing me to read the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.

I’m not a great reader of novels described as ‘heartwarming’, particularly with cheerful pastel-coloured covers. But as an impulse read for a winter day when I was feeling under the weather and in need of comfort, ‘Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen’ by Jane Linfoot proved to be a bit of a surprise.
Second in the Little Cornish Kitchen series, I hesitate to call this a ‘cosy romance’ but it is fun, flirty and funny. Novels set in Cornwall are almost a genre of their own and the fictional seaside village of St Aidan with its pastel-coloured houses set on steep windy streets leading to the beach is ideal for a ‘community’ novel with a strong list of characters.
There are lots of alliterations, hashtags and cute names starting with Cressida Cupcake, the social media name for hit online baker Cressy Hobson. Dog and apartment-sitting for her brother Charlie [owner of the Little Cornish Kitchen Cafe and star of the first book in Linfoot’s series, one of a collection set in St Aidan] Cressy will be at Seaspray Cottage for six weeks. She’s glad to escape London and the embarrassing fallout after an online baking disaster. She’s trending on social media as #CrappyCupcake, her book deal has fallen through, her blog sponsors have disappeared and she is short of cash. But when confronted with her sister-in-law’s circle of best friends, she hides the truth and is determined to work things out on her own.
Inevitably she is soon pulled into the community and joins the fundraising plans for the financially-struggling Kittiwake Court community care home. Cressy’s private baking parties take off, as do her sales of bake boxes via the local Facebook group. Add in a meeting with her handsome teenage crush, assorted sheep to be fed and eggs to be collected, a collection of adorable cats and dogs, various cute children and babies, and the scene is set for Cressy to lurch from disaster to triumph to embarrassment and disaster again and again. There are serious themes too – miscarriage and infertility being the main two – but in general there’s a light hand when it comes to the reality of seaside living, seasonal unemployment, online hate, poverty and the struggles of an ageing population. This is romantic comedy, a getaway from the real world. In this pastel-coloured village, reality is pushed firmly to one side.
Not my normal reading but great for the time when a Bakewell tart blondie is preferable to a single digestive. Oh, and if you enjoy baking there are some great recipes at the end.

What’s better than a great big slice of cake and a pot of tea? A new novel by Jane Linfoot, of course and she is back with her latest deliciously romantic treat, Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen.

Cressida Cupcake is an internet sensation with the world at her feet – until an embarrassing baking-related incident on TV reverses her fortunes and turns her into a complete pariah! Desperately needing to lie low for a while, Cressida packs her bags and heads off to the charming Cornish town of St Aidan where she will be dog-sitting for her brother. But short of funds and with her options very thin on the ground, Cressida cannot help but wonder what the future holds for her. Luckily for her though, the Little Cornish Kitchen just happens to be needing Cressida’s particular skills…

It isn’t just cupcakes and cream teas that are occupying Cressida’s every waking moment as life in St Aidan is anything but boring or predictable. When she isn’t giving Mary Berry a run for her money, Cressida finds herself getting up to all sorts of mischief – from saving a retirement home to chasing sheep and avoiding romance and a particular face from her past she isn’t keen on getting reacquainted with! Ten years ago, Cressida had lost her heart to Ross Bradbury and she is adamant that she will not make the same mistake a decade on. If only Ross wasn’t still so drop dead gorgeous…

St Aidan soon weaves its own magic on Cressida, but it also forces her to stop running from her feelings and to take a chance on her own happiness and confront her emotions head on – or else risk letting the only man she has ever loved slip through her fingers all over again…

Jane Linfoot’s books are like the literary equivalent of a warm hug and a catch-up with one of your best friends. Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen is a spellbinding romantic tale set in a beautiful Cornish village I’d move to in a heartbeat. Full of glorious characters you cannot help but love, mouth-watering descriptions of food that will have you salivating and a gorgeous love story that will make your heart sing, Tea for Two at the Little Cornish Kitchen is another uplifting charmer by Jane Linfoot.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Now this is the sort of book that has been craving buttercream and cupcakes! Literally drooling throughout the entire book. It certainly satisfied by sweet craving… and satisfied my literary craving too! I was invested in the story from the beginning and I loved it more than the first in this series. I’m glad I continued !

We join ‘Cressida Cupcake’ as she retreats back to St Aidan to escape the backlash from the fallout of the a few embarrassing mistakes on a cookery show. She is immediately adopted into the community as she tries not to succumb.

The unwelcome appearance of Ross also is an added insult but she’s determined not to let it get to her. After their shared history and some fair barbed comments, I could not wait to see how it was going to unfold. Given their hostility behind veiled niceties, I had no idea how the romance was going to take off. It made for compelling reading!

As this is the second in the series, I’m moving straight in into the third and back to the Cornish kitchen we go!

I really love Jane Linfoot’s style of writing, it’s so immersive and I am always left craving cake after visiting The Little Cornish Kitchen. A couple reviews I have read said they found it difficult to follow and is best read in order so you can keep up with the characters. I actually read this first and had no idea who anyone was but followed along fine and didn’t realise it was part of a wider series. That said, I would have definitely read them in order if I had known.

I love Cressy Cupcake, she’s flawed and licking her wounds – all defences are well and truly up and its so hard to see such a lovable character in so much pain. However, it was really great to see her story unfold and with it, her defences eventually lowering. I am sure to try some of Cressy Cupcakes recipes and will record the outcome of them on my blog!

I always try to include a trigger or content warning when particularly upsetting themes feature – this book contains themes of miscarriage.

It is a lovely summery read at Seaspray Cottage and a wholesome feel-good romance, really recommend!

Absolutely delighted to read this sequel!

The Little Cornish Kitchen instantly joined my list of Favorite Books Ever. It checked so many items on my list of Ingredients of a Fabulous Life: proximity to the beach and the countryside, small-and-perfect town, wild garden and food to die for! For Jane Linfoot to give us a sequel is just perfect! The characters are very well limned, the setting is really alive and the story is lovely, hard to put down and straight to the heart. It's rude to ask for more but can this have the potential to become a series? We want to know so much more about the other mermaids! Thanks so very much!

Cressie Hobson's passion is making cakes and demonstrates on U Tube and writes a blog about it. When it all goes wrong she escapes to Cornwall to look after her brothers dog and cat while he and his partner are away. The last thing she expected to happen was to get drawn into village life and also meet up again with one time boyfriend Ross. She starts doing cookery demonstrations at a nursing home and before she knows it she is back doing what she loves most, but what about Ross, will they ever reconcile their differences and will they be able to become friends again? A lovely feel good book, but you might need a few tissues beside you as you read!

I always eagerly await Jane Linfoots new releases. She has a lovely way of setting the scene so vividly you feel like you are there alongside the characters and who wouldn't want to live in St Aidens?! Her characters spring to life before you and you feel every emotion.
Cressy is taking a break from her everyday life after suffering a humiliating experience. She's in St Aiden licking her wounds and her youthful past is catching up with her and providing a much welcome distraction.
Foody references and recipes combine to make this a delicious experience.
