Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

“What he did today was amazing,” Daniela said. “But we can’t let him stay in this world. Can we?”
“Some people, they’ll never accept him,” Grandma said, eating her pasta. “But some will. And he seems to know how to find the good ones.”

В края на книгата има и много хубаво селектирани кадри от филма, който на свой ред пък определено е голяма радост за очите. Препоръчвам го.

The power of dreams cannot be undone.
And you must always believe in the power of good in people and magic of friendship. ❤❤❤
Cute story. Two unusual friends in search of freedom, under the sky full of fish. Moreover, there is always a girl with a big heart.

Though I kept wondering how they, being sea creatures, could breathe and survive outside of the water. But…

4.5 stars rounded up because of the narration

I listened to the audiobook and it just confirms the fact that I will listen to everything narrated by Edoardo Ballerini. He is particularly perfect for this and does a great job with the accents as well as the characters' voices. I saw this movie last year and I really enjoyed it and loved the concept of sea monsters as regular people who just want to live their best lives. This adaptation was perfect and kids who enjoyed the movie would enjoy the book as well, but listening to the narration just made it even better for me. My only criticism of the book (I also borrowed the book from the library) is that although it has some pictures in the middle of the book on special pages, the illustrations are not distributed throughout the book. The illustrations are glossy captures from the movie and that's all well and good, but I think the book would be even better if the story was illustrated throughout with the illustrations following the story. That said, I still think kids would enjoy reading this book and I can definitely recommend it to my younger students.

Okay, it’s not as good as the movie (which is one of my top five favorite films of all time) but it captures a lot of the heart of the film’s narrative and features the voices of several of the film’s actors including: Jacob Tremblay, Jack Dylan Grazer and Emma Berman. So it’s still fun, charming, and enchanting.

The book has extra scenes that I really needed watched them at the movie. By side, It was really cute know more details about the movie thanks to the novel, like dialogue and object that I didn't know about. The feelings of the characters was really awesome to know. Anyway, a beautiful movie that a I love with all my heart. 💕

I read this after watching the movie-- mainly because I wanted more content since I loved it so much-- and it's adorable! Very much the same as the movie, and I'm glad it's been turned into a novelization. I hope people find it and read it along with the movie because it's a great thing to have!

This book was everything. If you’re a fan of Luca the movie, this is truly something that you need to read. Like, I’m giving it five stars because it’s exactly what I expected it was going to be. Was the writing clearly targeting children? Yes. Did the book add any new perspectives that the movie didn’t cover? No. Were Luca and Alberto just as adorable and lovable as ever? Absolutely yes!! Although this was basically a word for word frame for frame transcript of the movie, it still felt like discovering the world of the sea and Portorosso for the first time, and I loved every single word of it.

This book is a very quick read; something that I would imagine parents reading to their kids before bed. However, it’s fun and does a great job adapting the movie into a different form of media. I’d even venture to say that it would be a cute and fun book for those who haven’t watched the movie or heard of the characters at all. It tells an age old adage about Luca, who is just such a curious kid that wants to explore the world and learn beyond what he is confined to. Alberto is his catalyst into the world beyond, and is a ray of pure energy and light, despite his sad backstory. And together, their juxtaposition makes a dynamic, fun and unstoppable team—especially when they’re joined by the rambunctious and lovingly supportive Giulia. Their dynamic is just as entertaining to read as it was to watch, and I loved re-experiencing their friendship grow in the book.

Overall, I truly enjoyed myself reading this book. To me, as a gay man who never really had any representation in the animated films that I loved to watch growing up, this is the gay story that my younger self always needed. And before people go up in arms, I know that it’s not officially a gay movie, but girl please, Luca and Alberto are gayer than a pride parade float. Also, the themes explored in this movie/book—hiding who you really are, finding love with someone who has experienced the same thing, trying to fight against the odds for acceptance and freedom, embracing your uniqueness and being happy despite the prejudices of others—they’re undeniably queer-coded and paint universal experiences of most queer kids. Also, sexuality does not mean sensuality, and we all had crushes as kids that had nothing to do with sex, so miss me with that bullshit about “pushing an inappropriate agenda.” Love and crushes are just as innocent in young gays as they are in young straights and you thinking they’re not is the problem. BUT ANYWAY BACK TO THE BOOK.

I’m so happy I discovered this novelization after reconnecting with the movie this year. I cried just like I did watching the movie. I mean “you got me off the island, Luca. I’m okay.” said by Alberto will always devastate me. I’m tearing up writing about it right now. But truly. The book reads just as beautifully as the movie plays and to those who don’t think so, I say a resounding SILENZIO BRUNO and also STFU! Ciao!

My Slightly Sarcastic But Ultimately Honest Book Rating System:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 Stars): This book achieved legendary status in my personal library. I will likely reread it until the pages fall out (or my e-reader spontaneously combusts). Consider this my enthusiastic endorsement – you should probably read it unless you actively dislike joy.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 Stars): A truly excellent read! I enjoyed it immensely and would heartily recommend it to fellow bookworms. You might even catch me subtly pushing it into their hands.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 Stars): Yep, it was a book I read. I turned the pages, absorbed the words, and emerged...unchanged. It was a pleasant enough journey, like a scenic detour that you wouldn't necessarily take again, but didn't regret.
⭐️⭐️ (2 Stars): This book existed. I finished it. That's about the highest praise I can offer. If you're looking for something truly captivating, maybe keep scrolling. This one's more of an "it filled the silence" kind of experience.
⭐️ (1 Star): Oh dear. This book and I did not get along. It was a literary tumbleweed in the vast desert of good books. Consider this a strong "do not recommend," unless you're conducting research on what not to do in storytelling.

Disclaimer: My enjoyment of the narrator is based on my listening speed. I only leave 5 stars for books I've read/listened to or will read/listen to multiple times. If you like this review please consider giving it a Helpful Vote below.
