While the writing is a little rough around the edges, the soapy quality of this light(ish) mafia romance held my attention. It’s not a storyline that I have EVER read before, which is always a huge plus for someone who reads as many romance novels as I do. There was something about that blurb (and great cover) that caught my eye, but I really didn’t know what to expect when I dove into this - and that’s half the fun. This turned out to be an entirely bingeable, opposites attract, mafia romance featuring a jaded antihero and the sheltered woman who throws him off balance. It’s kinda light and sexy for a mafia/forced marriage romance, and I honestly never knew where it was headed next. The romance sort of fizzles out in the back half, but I definitely enjoyed this as a whole.
The story follows Max, a man who has been working as a bodyguard for a mafia boss for the last five years. While he originally had (mysterious) noble intentions, this former good guy has slowly been slipping further into a life of crime. When Max’s boss sets his sights on a new (purchased) bride, it’s not surprising to Max - but he IS surprised by his own reaction to the woman. Madelyn is a ray of sunshine in Max’s otherwise dark life, and he finds himself drawn to her. But Madelyn is set to (unwillingly) marry another man, so crossing a line would be problematic for both of them.
I love a good mafia romance, and I tend to enjoy the ones that aren’t TOO dark. This was right up my alley - it’s pretty light overall and focuses on the drama and romance, rather than the heavier elements. The forbidden aspect worked for me - going in, I wasn't sure if this was going to be a love triangle situation, but it's really not. This has an instalove vibe and I would’ve appreciated more relationship development, but it's clear from the start that it's all about Max and Madelyn. The drama, unpredictable storyline, and soap opera feel are the best parts, as well as the opposites attract dynamic. The writing has great potential, and I think Wild will perfect her craft with time. It’s not a total win - I can absolutely identify elements of the story that floundered in the back half - but this was pretty solid, and I definitely enjoyed it. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this mafia romance.

Max and Madelyn’s first sighting of each other gave me a glimpse of how it would probably be when they were in each other’s constant presence because they would be since her father is marrying her off to a despicable individual!
While Max is to protect Maddie at any cost, he makes sure not to lose sight of the main prize, the reason he is her bodyguard. What Max didn’t expect was to have such a connection with Madelyn and the same was for Madelyn. The chemistry Max & Madelyn share is intense but the emotions and trust they share with each other is what in my opinion that seals the deal.
If you want a different type of mafia read this is your story. Just be ready to stay up late to get to the end. Kara~ 4 Stars

It’s so hard for me to write this review without spoilers because ugh I just loved it so much and the whole book was amazing!!
There is so many twist that have you gripping your seat! I wanted to throw the book across the room at times, but I didn’t. I did not want to break my kindle.😬
The emotional connection between Max and Madelyn alone is worth the read of this book. They have so much tension between each other from the moment they meet. Such a natural connection between them, yet terrible circumstances.
This was a suspense filled book with a forbidden love story & I loved it all. I didn’t want this book to end so soon, but the HEA made it all so worth it!🥰
If you’re thinking of reading this book, don’t even hesitate. Just read it, it was amazing!

My Fiance's Bodyguard was the first complete standalone by Ivy Wild, a story like nothing else she has written so far. In this book, we see Ivy diving into new waters, with her main characters being completely different than the millionnaire/brooding type that characterised her previous books.
Max and Madelyn are so different to one another, yet their chemistry was there from their very first encounter. Madelyn was rich, but poor on all the "essentials", like connection, love, and understanding. Max is a closed-off person, burdened by his past life and his never-ending goal, and falling for Madelyn was the last thing on his radar. And in the middle of the two, there is a fiance who, unknowingly, wronged the characters in the past, yet brought them together in the present.
Without spoiling the story, MFB has it all: a hero who is set on a goal and love hits him, a heroine who wants her life back, a suspenseful story with turns and twists, and some sexy moments to spice up your reading.
I usually always compliment the author for her sexy, hot, steamy, smutty scenes (because she really does write 10-star sexy scenes), but this time, i want to compliment the author on the level of detail she provided on other aspects of the story, such as military activity. Her detailed explanations to these were out of this world.
Can't wait for her next book and seeing new work from Ivy Wild!!!

My fiance's bodyguard is a mafia romance that's addictive, sexy, gripping, and captivating. From the first page I was hooked. I couldn't put it down, I just had to know what was going to happen. I was on the edge of my seat and some parts I had my hand over my eyes peaking through. The suspense was killing me. Even though Max and Maddy's road to love was a eventful one is was also beautiful. Highly recommend this book if you're a mafia romance lover that loves a HEA.

Definitely hyped about this upcoming release by such an amazing author! Every book I’ve read by her is a page turner with so much excitement throughout! I’m absolutely positive this one is going to be the same, especially after reading this blurb. I already cannot wait to get to know Maxon Holt!!

Ivy has produced yet another fascinating read of a new genre for her but she nailed it for her debut into the mafia world. Her knowledge was on point from dealings with the business side to her expertise of the military community as well. She continues to fascinate me with her ability to capture the readers attention, locking your mind in for the journey.
I ain’t some white knight here to save you. -Max
Madelyn was definitely a spitfire, take no shit type of chic, even if she was raised with luxuries. I appreciated her character for not being your typical, spoiled mafia princess, holding her own without her father’s name. And, she was rather mature for her age which is rarely seen in this genre.
“He’s unlike anyone I’ve ever been around before.” -Madelyn
Max was such a closed book, keeping his past and secrets to himself. He was brutally honest, not giving into Maddie whenever she demanded him to listen. His character was rough with a constant tough exterior. But, no matter how tough or strong he appeared, once she begins to break through his walls, there’s no stopping the outcome.
“I can't keep away from you. Us being together is reckless and dangerous and stupid, all wrapped into one. But, it's all I want." -Max
The connection between these two was steamy and full of fire! The lust and desire coming from their bodies, was enough to make a minister ask for forgiveness. Ivy brings so much passion into her books, the continuous sexual banter and undeniable chemistry, will have your emotions in overdrive! And as always, her character development was an A+! Great debut mafia novel!

Max was Johnny Maldanado's bodyguard and he hated when the mob boss introduced him as 'his attendant'. WTF was that, anyway? Max is a former Army Ranger and he joined Maldonado Family five years ago for one purpose and he can ignore all the jabs until his task is finished. They are currently at the Dimes Estate and he is nauseated at the over-the-top decor. Who puts clothes on their walls?
Madelyn was told to stay in her room as her father met with his associate. As if! She was forced into wearing a pink ballgown including white lace gloves to wait in her room. Heaven forbid she look anything other than she was going to the Grammys if someone caught sight of her.
But, she hides behind a pillar to catch a glimpse of her dad's guest anyway, until she finds herself caught by the man’s bodyguard and has a knife at her throat. This is the most fun she's had in ages.
Later she finds out that her dear ole dad was meeting with Boston's crime boss, Johnny Maldanado, and informed her that she would be marrying him, end of the story. Their maid Doris gave her a name and address and she snuck out in the middle of the night to make her escape.
Only Max found her. She had a few weeks of freedom before she was stuffed back inside her cage. She had nothing left to lose so she pushed Max at every opportunity. She doesn't make being his defacto prisoner easy and dies everything she can to annoy him and break down his walls. She was determined to push and push until he broke. It was his fault she was in this mess anyway because he was the one who found and brought her back after she tried to escape her father's plan to sell her to Maldanado.
If she's going to be forced to play a pawn in a game between her father and Johnny then she wants something for herself first and she wants it from Max. When Max finally opens up to her about why he is with Maldanado, she throws a major twist into the story and things really get interesting.
I loved this story! It is very well written and the characters are very well developed and relatable. The storyline catches your interest from the start when instead of being intimidated by having a knife at her throat, Madelyn splays out on the marble floor and starts bombarding the man with questions.
I love these characters! Madelyn has been forced to act and dress a certain way by her father and she tries to enjoy each bit of freedom she can get. I love how she stands up to Max and shows no fear. I about choked laughing at Max's internal description of rich people and their overdone surroundings. Max has built a hard shell around himself to survive the life he chose five years ago in order to find his answers, but Madelyn manages to get through.
This story is full of suspense and danger as Madelyn and Max join forces for a common goal. Doris and Phil are awesome and the chemistry between Madelyn and Max is so smoldering that he finally can't stay away from her. Even if it puts their lives in danger.
If you love action-packed romantic suspense look no further. This book has it all.

What a ride!!! My Fiancé's Bodyguard knows exactly how to make girl busy for a while. The suspense with romantic story line made this book an amazing adventure.
I had highly expectations about Max and Maddie's story, because last book from this author literally had shaken my world upside down. Today, after finishing My Fiancé's Bodyguard I can say loud and clear - this book and it's author hadn't disappointed me.
Forbidden love between Max and Maddie gave me all the shivers, that I wanted to recieve in book of this kind. The love story was steamy, but also sweet with emotions, that was breaking my heart... Between Max and Maddie always something is going on. Maddie maybe looks like a fragile girl, but is very strong heroine, and II'm glad that author created Max in a perfectly way for her. Their connection was such a natural thing between them, from the first moment I knew, they won't get me bored. All the twists, ups and downs in My Fiancé's Bodyguard kept me on my toes for the whole time.

This book was everything I was expecting and more. It was my first Ivy Wild book and it did not disappoint in the least. I will definitely be reading more of her books after having experienced this amazing journey

Ivy is an amazing author. All of her books are written with passion that others hope they can inspire to have. This book is amazing the plot is unique and well written with surprises. The characters are totally likeable and have you hooked from the beginning. Sexy and spicey. Highly recommended!! 😘

What an absolute ride that was! Ivy completely sucked me into this crazy fast paced mafia world and I loved every second of it. Max and Maddies relationship started off forbidden so it was a beautiful slow burn with the perfect amount of spicy to satisfy my appetite. Don’t wait to pick up this mafia romance of epic proportions and be prepared for one wild ride

This was a fantastic mafia romance with lots of suspense, drama, a forbidden love and with a story line that I couldn't put down.
I love Maddie and Max together. Their chemistry was off the charts hot and magnificent. Maddie was a sassy heroine with a free spirit who gave Max a hard time trying to tame her.
Max was a grumpy man with so much baggage from his past and with one mission on his mind. Maddie was the one person that brought his walls down and made him wish for more.
Two opposite personalities, a love that is forbidden and so many obstacles in their way. Would Maddie and Max be able to face it all?
I absolutely love this story and definitely recommend it.

¡Este libro me ha sorprendido muy gratamente! Si soy sincera no esperaba demasiado de un libro que se titula "El Guardaespaldas de mi Prometido" pero es de los pocos libros sobre mafia que leo donde realmente he podido sentir la angustia y el peligro que imagino debe suponer estar en este mundo.

Madelyn Dimes es la hija mayor de un multimillonario de Boston que está destinada a casarse por conveniencia. Aunque lleva años rechazando las propuestas de su padre, finalmente este la obliga a casarse con el líder de la mafia de Boston, un hombre que casi le triplica la edad, Johnny. Como ya se intuye del título ella empieza un tira y alfoja con el guardaespaldas Johnny, Max. Típico te-deseo-aunque-esta-prohibido-bla-bla.

Tal como decía al principio este libro me ha hecho sufrir con los encuentros de ambos protagonistas, las veces que Madelyn intenta encontrar información y demás. Más que nada porqué podemos ver lo repugnantes que son tanto el padre como Johnny y las terribles consecuencias que podría tener ser atrapada en alguna de estas situaciones.
Y aún con lo bien que lo estaba haciendo la autora, con escenas sexuales bastante buenas y personajes bastante bien formados, ha tenido que cagarla de esta manera con el final. Todo sucede absurdamente rápido. No hay drama ni promesas de venganza ni tiros ni nada. Mini spoiler en cursiva: Lo que habría dado yo por ver a Madelyn testificar en contra de su padre, ¡delante suya!
Más allá de un par de incongruencias en la historia ha sido una lectura muy adictiva y entretenida.

A different take on the forbidden romance, with a grumpy hero that is easy to fall in love with and a sassy heroine with a ton of spirit.
Max and Madelyn are a slow to burn romance wrapped up in a mafia story that is unlike any other I've read before. Madelyn has basically been locked away for most of her life and her father has been unsuccessfully been trying to marry her off, that is until the big mafia boss asks for her hand and this time her greedy father doesn't say no. The age difference is probably grandfather to granddaughter spread, but it's what he does, his personality, etc...along with his age that has Maddie disgruntled with the decision and nothing will stop her from halting the marriage, if it's the last thing she ever does.
Max has worked for Johnny Maldonado for the past five years. He's worked his way up in the organization garnering any information he can and he won't let a wealthy princess get in his way of what he's after.
Max was super grumpy about his job and Maddie was extremely oblivious about the world she grew up in...was this intentional? Knowing the beautiful style Ivy Wild typically writes, I'm going to say yes.
There were so many hints dropped along the way that there was a lot more depth to these characters than the shallowness they give off at first, it was certainly what kept me reading because I had to know what secrets Max was holding on to and I just knew Maddie was full of more than the princess cover she portrayed. I'll just drop that yes, both characters grew in depth and the story was twisty and gave exactly what I was expecting from an Ivy Wild book.
These two, once they let their guards down, discovered they had more in common then they ever would have thought; a wealthy girl that Max calls Princess and a mafia thug with more than meets the eye. Perhaps with the same end goal, they could help one another, if they don't get caught and end up dead in the process.

My Fiancés Bodyguard is the latest release by Ivy Wild and her first novel in the mafia genre. If you are looking for a book that you aren’t quite sure what you need this is certainly a jammed packed book that encompasses it all. It is an enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, mafia story that brings us to a time when daughters are sold off to marriage in exchange to benefit the family only it’s in this day and age at least until the one person your heart falls for can actually be the one person that can get you both killed. Ivy Wild once again does not disappoint with her writing or her story telling. Meeting Max and Maddy will take you on adventure with some unexpected turns but worth every second of it. This debut book sets the well worth tone for future books in this series.

My Fiancé's Bodyguard is a forbidden, mafia romance that is a complete standalone. I thought this story was just OK. It was an easy read that held my interest enough to finish the book, and there was some angst, but there was no real exciting, OMG moments or twists. I thought Max's reasoning for joining the mafia was a tad odd. I also didn't really feel the chemistry between Max and Madelyn. They def could push each other's buttons but I didn't feel that they had this explosive off the charts attraction. And they never really got to know one another besides finding away to irritate each other.
Madelyn was a contradiction. One minute she's a sassy, fierce, fearless spitfire, then the next she's a scared, weak, lonely "princess." Sometimes she frustrated me when she got whiney. Max was cold, detached, and borderline heartless. He had one goal and no one was going to deter that, not even a beautiful damsel in distress. I personally never found him to be loveable, but to each their own.

Wow! Iv loved Ivy’s work since the first book I read of her’s. When she said she was taking out a mafia book, I knew I was going to love it like I loved all her other books.
Madelyn and Max story isn’t like any other Mafia book Iv read before. Max is a bodyguard for a top Dom in the mafia world, when he meets Maddie at a meeting he is attending with Johnny. She isn’t your typical mob princess, she is a feisty, strong headed girl who knows what she wants! She knows she doesn’t want to be Married off to a sixty year old mob boss and she will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
Max is a broody hero, who knows what he wants also and that’s not to get caught up in this feisty princess who gives him loads of sass. That princess being his bosses new fiancée.
I loved all the drama, twists & turns in this book. I can’t wait to read more from this world.

My Fiancé’s Bodyguard is another great read by Ivy Wild that will consume you from the beginning to the end. This great mafia story is Intense,full of action and hot steamy scenes . The connection between Max and Maddie was epic from the beginning and all the way through the end. Max was exactly what Maddie needed to be saved from the promised marriage to another mafia don who might as well be her father because of his age. But both Maddie and Max had a plan to take him and all involved down for the justice of what happened in the past.

This book was so good that no matter what I needed to do, I could not put it down until the last page was read. It moves along at the perfect speed for the flow of the story, not too fast nor too slow. The characters are amazing and you will fall in love with them no matter what happens. The story keeps you interested and reading until the end and then you are wanting more. This book is a must read, there is no doubt about it.

The banter between them was so good. Love the strength Maddie finds, how brave she is. The connection between Max and Maddie is instant and love that they found a way.

This was a quite surprising book. I wasn’t expecting much but the plot and character development really grew on me. At first it felt a bit rushed but afterwards I started enjoying the wild ride this book was focusing on.

What a clever book, with a side or romance. I loved the undercover vide that Max had going on and when he knew somehow that he could trust “princess” I could feel they would get their happy ending. It’s a fast paced and a whirlwind romance but that’s the back story, the true story is the gritty crime that Max is dealing with. Very well written and leaves you wanting more. This is my first Arc for Ivy but I’m here for this journey!

The cover and teaser really caught my eye, so I was looking forward to this story and it did not disappoint. This was a book I couldn’t put down and would have read straight through if not for various responsibilities. Maddie is the sheltered daughter of a patronizing father who never fails to remind her that she’s only valuable to him because he can marry her off. When he insists she marry a mob boss nearly three times her age, she runs away, only to be quickly retrieved by her betrothed’s bodyguard/security man, Max.
Max is stoic, brooding and focused on his mission of vengeance. The last thing he needs is this stranger complicating his life with her fight against his boss and attempts to escape her gilded cage. Yet he’s drawn to her in a way he can’t ignore. Maddie hates Max for taking her back to her father and her fiancé, but something tells her he can be an ally despite his insistence that he won’t help her.
The heat between them is intense and the suspense is excellent. I loved the characters and the few secondary characters as well. This is a standalone but the very end makes me hopeful that the author intends it to be the first book of a new series so I’m really hoping she gives us more. It’s a fantastic story, you won’t be disappointed.

I've never been disappointed in an Ivy read, ever, and that still stands. I've been stuck on Silas from Brightly Burning Bridges for a while and, I think maybe Max just took his place as my favorite. That's maybe an outrage for some but, I really think it's true.
Some might see this as an insta-love story but I'd dare to say it's more of a soul-fates story. Maddie and Max were star written and their chemistry was fierce and immediate. Despite what either of their motives may have been they were willing to risk it all for each other. They were willing to push boundaries and test possibilities all for a chance. A chance at something for them. No one else.
This plot moves gracefully and keeps you lulled the whole way through, I was invested from page one. Maddie was quirky and her interactions with everyone, especially Max, were so endearing. I adored her! Max was determined to be grumbly but he had me smiling constantly.
