Wow, that was a lot of steam. Like A LOT a lot. Most definitely more than I was expecting.
I really liked both Hudson and Dayton, but due to the copious amounts of sex, my mind couldn't quite decide if the story was a romance or if it was sprinting toward Porn with Plot (PWP) territory. I was mostly okay with that, but it was a little confusing.
There was also no shortage of tropes, covering step-brothers, voyeurism, cam boys, hockey boys, forced proximity, virgin MC, exploration of bisexuality, plus, I'm pretty sure there are a few others that I've missed.
I don't mind step-brother stories, but I was happy that this time around, Hudson's dad and Dayton's mom met and quickly got married within a mere handful of days before the boys went off to the same college.
So without them being raised together, they barely knew one another and for sure did *not* feel like brothers in any way to me, which generally tends to help avoid parental freakouts in situations like theirs.
I did like how Dayton found out about Hudson's videos, then the big reveal 3 years on, which I saw coming, but was still fun, especially when Hudson's ex-girlfriend was in on it. That made me laugh.
I could've done without the blackmailing aspect of the story entirely and was a tiny bit "blah" when the history of the asshole hockey player roommate was revealed. Again, I totally saw that coming, too, since it was such low-hanging plot point fruit.
This was an entertaining first read of Billie Bloom for me; however, if I had a magical dial to turn down the steam, I would've fairly quickly been cranking it to the left.
The one thing about the book that really shocked me was hearing that guys were able to make TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for a single Only Fans video. Holy shit, I'm in the wrong goddamn business!
I'd rate the story at around 3.75 stars and will probably give Bloom another go at some point, but maybe something with a smidge less steam.

Wow, this book was addictive. It was fast-paced, sweet, and steamy. Since I started the book, all I wanted to do was finish the story. I loved how cute the characters were, especially Dayton. I feel like there will be more to this story, and I would definitely read it.
If you like (really) spicy romances, I definitely recommend.

This book is what is most commonly referred to as a hidden gem, and if you didn't have any plans to read it immediately, I encourage you to change those plans 😋
How does one put into the words the feeling this book gives one? Basically it was 30% at 3am and your girl had a 9am work shift, but didn't put this down until about 6:30am. Am I completely exhausted? Heck yes. Do I care? Pretty sure you can guess the answer to that question...(It's no. abso-freaking-lutely nah). Can you tell I'm sleep deprived? 😌
I'll start off by saying this novella has almost all my favourite tropes packed into it. Stepbrother? Forced proximity? Enemies(ish)-to-lovers? Sports? Mini bi-awakening? Insta-attraction? Yep it's all in there!! And this author does such a wonderful job of weaving them together that it just makes sense. I ate up every single encounter between our two MCs, Hudson and Dayton (OMG THE MYRIAD OF SHIP NAMES THAT THEY CAN HAVE!!!). They gave me all the feels 🥲
Short recap: Dayton spent years watching and obsessing over a camboy only to realize it's his stepbrother, Hudson, who he hasn't particularly liked or payed much attention to over the years. He has a major kerfuffle with his roommate that forces him to move in with said stepbrother, aaaand that's all I'll say.
GOSH I FREAKING LOVED DAYTON! His tenacity, willingness to be vulnerable, explore Hudson's kink, and give him the control he needed because it'd been taken away from him his entire life?!? He was perfect. I just loved how well he communicated his thoughts and feelings with Hudson. Ugh it was refreshing 👏🏾👏🏾
This novella was light, hilarious (cracked up wayy too many times), fun, a bit OTT at times, low- to mid-level angst, and HOT HOT HOT sexy times 🥵 I mean what do you expect? Hudson is a total exhibitionist and we love him for it. Oh! That small plot twist towards the end definitely got me so yay for that!

3.5 sweet and sexy stars
Well, tiny SPOILER ahead to introduce our MCs because it weighted in my first impression of the book :Hudson and Dayton are stepbrothers, but they hardly know each other. It's actually a trope I don't really like, but it was a nice twist on the roommate concept.
The story went way beyond the blurb. I liked the details and events complementing the easy plot and how the angst resulting from these twists strenghened the bond between Hudson and Dayton, instead of breaking it. They made a really cute and caring couple - of course really steamy, but we're talking a Billie Bloom, one of the queens of steam, so it was destined to be steamy! Hudson was insecure because of a bad experience and Dayton was very patient with him, while falling in love... way too quickly for me. It was lust and then love not even two weeks later despite the fact they hadn't had any time to learn more about each other in between. So, yeah, too fast.
Hudson's roommates were fantastic. I can't wait to know more about them - I'm jumping on Book 2 when it's out, as I'm very intrigued by Theo and his closeness to a certain sporty gentleman 😏 I also hope we'll get more Justin. We'll see! On the other hand, Dayton's roommate was a jerk and I'm still waiting to know what really happened in the past that made him behave so strongly the way he did. I've some ideas, but I don't want to extrapolate or there would be spoilers here. I hope the subject will be approached in the following books and that we'll get some clear answers.

That kink was hot. I loved the exploration of it and the dirty talk involved. I wish there had been more.
The premise was so promising. I really expected to like this story more. There’s not really a taboo feel here, the contrivance to get the two MCs living together was not interesting, and I was generally bored for most of the plot.

Hudson and Dayton are stepbrothers. Their parents got married right before the two of them went off to college. They don't particularly like one another but they also do not know much about each other.
Fast forward 4 years later and the two of them are forced together. Dayton and his roommate get into a fight that leads Dayton to needing somewhere to stay. Hudson's father, who owns the property where Hudson lives, forces Hudson to take Dayton in.
The underlying attraction between the two is undeniable and sharing a room together leads to certain things to happen😝 .
Overall, an ok read. There were a lot of holes in the plot especially when it came to Dayton. Also too many things felt unresolved and pushed to the side. I would not call this a sweet cute romance it is more of a raunchy, sticky, down and dirty romance. Lots of steamy scenes going on. I think all the focus on the steamy scenes lead to the other parts of the story to fall short. The chemistry between Dayton and Hudson was fire though.

This was a fast paced stepbrothers fall for each other romance, with a hint of kink. I think I enjoyed the secondary characters, more than the MCs though. They were supportive of their friends, and obviously loved them. I liked Dayton, he's a real sweetie, Hudson a bit spoiled. Although I didn't really understand the whole 'blackmail' element, it all seemed a bit redundant! I don't want to go into detail and give spoilers, just that there's a few discrepancies in the plot, which spoiled the flow of the story. Still, if you ignore all of that, quite a fun story.

I was excited for this one, but it went downhill so quickly that it gave me whiplash.
- The characters made me cringe.

I really love the step-brother trope. It's quickly becoming one of my favorites.
This book is a really fast-paced book with low-angst. Dayton and Hudson really do make a great couple. It's almost insta-love because they don't know each other really well but are very attracted to each other. The relationship moves relatively quickly.
I loved Hudson's roommates. They come across as super fun and make you laugh. They are also really supportive of Hudson.
There are a couple of things I didn't care for. Because the story was so fast-paced, it felt like things were missing. Hudson clearly has a rough relationship with his dad. But we don't really get into that. We get one small sentence about his mom towards the end, which helps explain some of Hudson's constant insecurities, but I would've liked to see Hudson and his Dad resolve some of their issues. Same with everything with Dayton's roommate Cappy. There is clearly more in the background as to why Cappy acted the way he did, but we really don't actually get any answers. We get a blanket gloss over. Enough to give you a semi-answer, but not to fully answer it. Unless one of the books in the series will be about him, there's a lot open there.

Dayton and Hudson are step brothers. They don't know each other very well. Their parents got together when they were 18, and then they both moved out for college and they haven't really interacted over the four years since. Hudson is gay, he's an exhibitionist and was hurt by a high school boyfriend who plays hockey and is reluctant to be in relationships. He secretly does only fans to satisfy his exhibitionist streak. Dayton is bisexual, but he's not out. He's a hockey player and he has been watching Hudson's only fans for years, not knowing it was him.
During their last year of college, Dayton has a fight with his roommate. His roommates caught him getting off to gay p*** (the only fans) and blackmails him. The fight gets physical. Dayton has to move out. Dayton moves in with Hudson. It quickly turned sexual with Dayton and Hudson.
This book was a light read. It had some good steam and sweet moments, so it was entertaining at times. I liked the bed sharing. I liked them being unable to hold back around each other. I liked Dayton not being ashamed of his sexuality and not making Hudson be a secret again. But the book really suffered from not having realistic or natural development of the relationship between Hudson and Dayton. There wasn't enough UST, they jumped in bed together too quickly. And they profess to be in love and want to be boyfriends way too quickly. You know I wouldn't actually object to the speed if the author had put in the work to developing the relationship and showing them actually get to know each other and care about each other. Speed can be fine if it's done right. It wasn't here. Disappointing, because this premise had a lot of potential.
Some things I didn't like... Cappy wanted to blackmail Dayton for $10,000. The fact that Dayton even considered paying him was just ridiculous. Dayton was a jerk about accepting Hudson saying no to him on page 98 and a couple times before that. Hudson is allowed to say no! Page 131 was the exclusivity talk and it was so fast and it was awkwardly written, it just seemed out of nowhere and cheesy. It went from physical to emotional really freaking fast, without any development of the actual relationship and getting to know each other. I didn't understand why Hudson was celibate after his high school boyfriend dumped him, unless there was more to the story than we heard, it just didn't seem a good enough reason to not have a sex life.

"I walk downstairs and spot Dayton. Damn, he looks tasty. No. Play it cool. Don’t forget you hate Dayton. Right. He’s annoying. Got it. Annoyingly hot, and he’s now seen my cock. Fuck. We’ve only lived under the same roof for three weeks. That didn’t take long."
"“Clothes off,” I order as we crawl into bed. “Aw, there’s the bossy man I love,” Dayton teases, but shit, did I hear that right? “Wait, what?” I freeze, leg midair about to hook over his waist. Dayton grabs my leg and pulls it down over his hips. “I said what I said.”"

i find it weird that Dayton didn't want to come out at the start, yet all of a sudden he's ok with it?

Some lovely steamy scenes, both solo and as a couple, but...I just didn't feel a connection with these two. Then with each other? Yes. Them with me, not so much. Still, a decent story. I'm interested in seeing where Theo and Troy end up, so I'll probably read book two eventually.
Btw, I grew up in the same state as this author. Maybe part of my problem connecting with the MCs were their names. Can't tell you how often we'd go shop at Hudson's Department store. The full name of the company? Dayton Hudson. Just sayin.

This was a three star story, but I enjoyed it so much I had to give it 4 stars. It funny and full of lots and lots of hot sex. I started out not caring much for Hudson, but he grew on me. Dayton was just a big sweet teddy bear. My only regret was not finding out the background story between Hudson and Jerrod. Still it was a fun read.

I got this book for free and I was dying to finally read it since I've seen it around on Instagram and I was curious. Just the title (roommates romance, yes!) called to me. Then I read the blurb and… cam boy? There we go!!
When I started reading it I was pleasantly surprised to discover our mains were step brothers too!! And that they were forced to share a room!! All my fave tropes here.
Hudson starts posting videos of himself only not because he needs the money (his dad is loaded) bit because he has a kink of being watched and posting his videos, reading his followers comments and feeling seeing makes him feel existed in a way he can't find with boys he meets the traditional way.
The thing is without him knowing, Dayton, the set brother, subscribes to his OF not knowing Hudson is the one he's watching. And after years watching him he's half infatuated with him.
Then Dayton has an issue with his roommate and calls his step father for help, ending in Hudson's room sharing with him.
Their relationship is fast, but hot and somewhat tender. I won't say I will be remembering these two in the long run, because I probably won't. Theirs is not an unforgettable story, just two boys that happen to be step brothers falling into lust and ito love.
Hudson had his heart broken by a hockey player in HS and that experience left him traumatized, but Dayton, yet another hockey player, helps him feel comfortable with himself and with his kink. But best of all, he makes him feel loveable.
I liked the situation with the ex, it was unexpected and I didn't see that twist coming, and I'm always happy to be surprised.
If you enjoy forbidden romances with hot kinks, then you should give this one a go. I will probably read the next one to discover what's going on with Theo and Troy.

I am never disappointed when reading a book by Billie Bloom it’s always interesting. Keep my attention; I can’t wait to read book two with Troy and Theo that’s about to be interesting.
Plus I never figured out that Cappy was Hudson ex boyfriend who left him for his ex girlfriend at a hockey game. I would love to see what’s up with Cappy and see if he’ll ever admit to liking guys and what not. You can tell he going through something.
I do wonder if he has a thing for Hudson still especially with the way he hated Dayton after seeing him jerk off to Hudson video. I mean he was so butt hurt and mad. I wanted to figure out too why he was acting like that. Until Hudson told him to leave Dayton alone, especially with Hudson got something on him …
I also wonder why Hudson dad is so hard on him whereas Dayton mom is so care free. They are the polar opposite but in a good way. Because that’s what Hudson dad needs…. He seem sort of mean.

I actually really loved this story! For once an amazing semi taboo story with the step brothers trope that wasn’t angsty. I loved the sweet cinnamon roll hero with the sassy boy hero. Loved how there wasn’t a big 3rd act break up or major miscommunication that seems to always happen, and yet this book was spicy and fun. Highly recommend if your needing a break from all the typical angst.

What a great, fun, entertaining, and steamy read. ALL of the characters in this book are fabulous. The story is fun and fast paced with some great laugh out loud moments. One of the things I enjoy most about Billie Bloom's characters is that they are so real it is easy to be come invested in their story. I hardly wanted to stop reading once I started. I cannot wait for the next book.

This was surprisingly low-angst, for what the main theme was.
I deeply appreciated that it was not only sexy as hell, but also had lots of heart and emotional depth. Hudson and Dayton were absolute sweethearts, and both incredible characters, well-rounded and enjoyable.
Can't wait to see what's next for this series!

This was a fun crazy ride. I really enjoyed this book a lot.
Billie Bloom takes two (not one but two!) sorta taboo subjects and makes them ordinary and okay. Reading this I feel like people are excepted for who they are. That’s the way it should be and it definitely is in Billies worlds. Hudson and Dayton are great together and are both equally fabulous but I find myself leaning towards Dayton. Probably because he was so supportive and caring through out the whole book (aww swoon). I also liked that this book was a bit different and off the cuff. There should definitely be more main characters that do video porn that get a happily ever after.

4 stars - I liked it!
If you need a quick, super steamy, MM hockey romance book, Billie Bloom will be the way to go! This author is amazing at writing steamy scenes and just scratching that itch of wanting a spicy MM with low angst. And when I say spicy I mean spicyyyyy!🔥
This is the first in a series which gets me super excited for the next books coming out soon! I've read all but one of Billie Bloom's books so far and have enjoyed them!
Hudson and Dayton are stepbrothers and are now forced to be roommates. When Dayton discovers who he's been listing over for 3 years, it turns out to be Hudson. Now that he knows who the subject of his fantasies are, he can't stay away, and neither can Hudson.
There is a forbidden element in this book with the MCs being stepbrothers from their parents marrying each other. I for one love this trope. It's not too big of a deal in this book as I've read in other stepbrother romances, it's much more subdued and more of a good fine with these boys rather than them dwelling on the whole stepbrothers aspect which I quite liked!

This was good erotica but I didn't really feel the romance.
Plus some things I didn't really vibe with:
1. The way they decided who would bottom - lame.
2. Hudson was generally very sweet but Frank was frequently a dick to Dayton and he never says anything or sticks up for him.
3. JD/Cappy - literally nothing happens to him. He treated Dayton terribly, attempts to blackmail Hudson, is verbally homophobic more than once and the author lets him get away with it without any consequences or punishment and even had Dayton be nice about him towards the end when he's sharing a room with Hudson - fuck that noise.
4. What was the point of Hudson worrying about coming out and the blackmail when he comes out anyway?
5. Dayton made HOW MUCH making OF videos? Didn't seem believable to me but what do I know?
6. The whole step brothers thing felt like it was just thrown in without much thought. I love a good step brother mm so that didn't bother me, but they didn't know each other well enough, or grow up together in order for it to seem taboo so I don't think it really added anything to the story.
There were other things but these are the things that stick out the most and had the biggest impact on me not being able to enjoy the story.

Such a delicious taboo (somewhat) story! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! Billie Bloom, the author did a great job writing this story! It kept me turning the page til the end!
