THIS my friends is my most favorite short story.
Please don’t be scared off or even disgusted by the cover and/or the title. Really NOTHING about this novella or love story is gross even though thinking about a truck stop bathroom alone might be.
I loved the creative ways they found to have sex that was more than just through that glory hole and at the same time keeping their anonymity what was important to them both. That shower scene was just… 🔥🔥🔥 The whole book was, really.
For me this just was one of the most adorable stories ever. No angst, no drama just sweet sweet insta-everything. I loved how August & West fell for each other in two separate ways. They were just made to find each other. Even if it was in a seedy truck stop bathroom. ♡♡♡
Imo this book deserves more attention, so if you are in the mood for a light, hot hot hot and totally sweet novella for in between. This one’s for you ♡
side note: this was the first time I ever heard of glory holes (innocent girl that I am 😂). First reaction: Wait, what? Seriously?? I even needed to google it. And friends, I saw A LOT on my online research expedition.

Walking into a seedy truck stop was never ideal, but since my intentions were as dirty as they came... it was even worse.
Please don’t be scared off or even disgusted by the cover and/or the title. Really NOTHING about this novella or love story is gross even though thinking about a truck stop bathroom alone might be.
I loved the creative ways they found to have sex that was more than just through that glory hole and at the same time keeping their anonymity what was important to them both. That shower scene was just… 🔥🔥🔥 The whole book was, really.

This was damn near a perfect short story (for me), which is a rarity indeed. I often feel deprived of something when I read shorts, but this one delivered a full story, with high-steam, sweet romance, great banter, and solid character development, all in a matter of 95-pages.
The story follows guidance counselor August and P.E. teacher West, who are colleagues at their local high school. We know this, they know this.
What they don’t know is that they’ve been communicating on a hook-up app, anonymously, which soon leads to VERY STEAMY and VERY PUBLIC in-person hook-ups, that leave them both satisfied and addicted for more.
As the story unfolds, these hook-ups escalate in passion and intensity, as August and West continue to meet-up regularly at a local truck stop. But the fun part?!... They manage all these sexy encounters while still remaining completely incognito!
Best of all, these smutty encounters and emotionally-charged text exchanges—paired with their growing in-person connection during school hours—developed into a really lovely and very sweet romance, that had me swooning and sighing in contentment by the time these men revealed their identities and were arse-over-tits in love with each other.
I had an absolute blast devouring this sexy little number. As I said, this was my idea of a perfect M/M short story, and I will be re-reading it again just for kicks, and probably soon.

Love in a Truck Stop Bathroon by Sebastian O’Connor will make you swoon, laugh and it brings the heat. It was completely unexpected for a novella but I loved every minute of it.
West “Woody” (PE instructor) and August “ Pegasus” (Guidance counselor) meet through a dating app. They hooked blindly through a gl*ry h*le in a truck stop bathroom. What they didn’t expect was to want more and to feel a bond with each other. They also didn’t expect to know each other IRL when they decided to stop hiding their identities.
I was looking for a quick, spicy read and my bookish mom @evareadswithdog gave me this recommendation. It’s worth the time and you should read it, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the impact this little spicy but cute novella brings.

This is what I love about book recommendations - finding good stories hidden behind unlikely covers and titles. Thanks Kati for this one. This cute story actually has a lovely romance and is well paced for a Novella. I loved the suspense and build up between these two as they keep meeting anonymously and seeing them interact professionally outside of their steamy arrangement, without knowing who the other is. I also really enjoyed the storyline of Beau and Axel too, it was a nice addition. I’d have enjoyed this more as a full novel but for a quick read it was really well done.

It’s very sexual, but they are hot so it doesn’t really bother me. I enjoyed their story especially with the “faceless/anon” vibes in this book. It is definitely arousing and enticing overall. I liked it. This slump is something else. 90 pages in 5 days? Fuck my life.

I’ve gotta say, I was not expecting to be so charmed by a story involving a glory hole but here we are 🥹 This story was so beautiful, funny and intimate and I devoured it in less than an hour.
West and August had me hooked from the first page and I was so invested in their story. They were so sweet and clearly smitten with each other that I felt the connection from their first (real) meeting. So much happened in the span of this 95 page book and not a page was wasted, it was a full complete story that left me so satisfied.
And speaking of satisfying damnnn the smut was fantastic! Hot, sensual and actually moved the plot along, I couldn’t get enough. I loved this story and definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a short, sweet, satisfying read that you can finish in one sitting 💜

You know I love my grit and grime and this one started out in a dingy old bathroom with a glory hole and I was here for it! But alas, it’s actually such a sweet story with the best bits of spice!
West and August and 2 men who are sick of the dating world but feeling pretty lonely. They meet on an app known for no-strings hookups, and after a bit of planning and negotiating the specifics, they meet at the truckstop!
BUT this goes on - ANONYMOUSLY - for a bit. They never see each other’s faces, but things progress in a sexy way. Outside of their hookups, they actually know each other in real life! And when the light turns on … BAM! 😉
Honestly, this short little story was the perfect pallette cleanser. My first read by this author and won’t be my last. The writing was great, and so many feels were packed in despite the length.

Reread July 2025. Still love this adorably sweet novella.
Previous review: It took me a while to read this because of the title, as I imagined some seedy, sweaty, truckdriver hookup, not that I wanna be kink shaming or anything??... but after reading it, I wouldn't want it titled anything else as it aptly encompassed its smutty and romantic vibes.
This book was the perfect mix of sexy and sweet. Love anonymous hookups, hidden identity, and long-term pining tropes. The MCs deserved their HEA.
Loved the parallel plot of the two teens, navigating their sexuality too 🥰

I’m in two minds about this one. I really wanted to love it, but some things were a bit…ewww 🥴
Let’s start with the things I loved: I’ll always have a thing for anonymous texting, especially tropes where you unknowingly text somebody you know (and have a crush on) in real life. I wait with bated breath for the moment they realise who the other one is, and i loved it here, too. On top of that, i really liked both characters - August the school counsellor and West the sports teacher. Give me a good nerd/jock pairing, and I’ll always melt to goo.
What I DIDN’T like - and in that, I fully agree with Angelika’s review - is the cleanliness/safety issue I had with the truck stop bathroom. On one hand, both clean the glory hole before using it. But the next moment, they’re lying half naked on the floor and get it going?

The no-condom thing - no idea. The book seems to be written by a man, so I guess an informal “I’m clean” is how it’s done? And as Dan confirms in his review, it’s an accurate portrayal of gay men, so who am I to judge?

I smiled so hard throughout this entire novella! Holy sugar and spice! Logistically speaking, I'm not sure how most of the hookups transpired, much less remained anonymous, but who cares when a story is this fun? I also adored the secondary love story. I would totally read their book. Lots of feels and laughs in very few pages. I'm so glad I impulse read this.

If you're into cleanliness, I probably wouldn't rec this. Even I gagged a bit trying to imagine them frotting underneath a truckstop bathroom stall.

Also, my brain was doing that math-does-not-compute-woman gif thing trying to visualise the logistics, though I feel like truckstop bathrooms in the US must be different to Australia because...well, let's just say at least this wasn't set in a dunny.
That said, I liked the rest of the sex, especially them having anonymous sex in the showers, and closing their eyes while they hug afterwards. I think the way the growing intimacy was shown in the sex was effective, and I liked how their desires matched.
Once their identities were revealed though, this became almost unbearably cheesy, and the reveal itself was pretty anticlimactic.
I liked the premise of the school plot, them helping a student who's being bullied by another student, who is actually struggling with internalised homophobia. However, the execution was a complete failure for me. There was not enough time in this book to actually give them any character growth, so it very much read like that thing were parents tell their children "they're only bullying you because they like you". Fuck that for a joke.
The PDA at work make me a bit uncomfortable too, though I do understand they both get off on public sex for me that's not the place for it.
This redeemed itself a bit at the epilogue, which I thought was funny and very in-character. Overall, I enjoyed the MCs as characters and as a couple, thought they had good chemistry, but found the rest to be a bit of a letdown.
