Mirjana always had a big heart for vacations. Her first solo travelling experience started in Belgrade, from where she explores many Balkan countries.
Discover a beautiful (but less discovered) part of the world with some colorful destination photos, as Mirjana meets her family, explores topics of culture, history, and takes inspiration! Furthermore, she shares her power and life values through this travel adventure.
She uses her journey as a young woman with autism and cerebral palsy to inspire others and provides travel tips for those in need. She clears up historical misconceptions from their war-torn history. Despite it, learn how every part of the Balkans feels like home to her in a way and some lessons to live-by from her own experience.
Mirjana is a great writer with a gentle and romantic voice. I couldn't put this book down and found myself still reading at 3am last night. I would recommend this book to all travel lovers, to anyone who wants to know what it is like to be brave, travel woth disability, or get a feeling of what Balkan countries are all about. Great job, Mirjana! I will be looking forward to your new book.
Mirjana Gligorevic: beautiful girl and talented author introducing to the world her motherland Balkan and culture of people who are living there. She impressively stating some historical happening and cultural challenges countries facing even now still not completely established own sovereignty after independence from fall of Former Yugoslavia (which can have other sides different of Mirjana’s view of course, depending of ethnicity of people who are talking) which sadly challenges lives of Balkan people. However, Mirjana’s book is still romantic, warm written and heart felt. In one chapter she talks about sunflowers which are common on Balkan but not here in Australia. She was enjoying view on fields filled with this golden flower.
Mirjana says: If I could be any flower, I would probably be the sunflower. They not only absorb the brightness of the sun, but also turn to each other and share energy on a cold and a cloudy day.
Mirjana Gligorevic who was born with a Cerebral Palsy put many of us people on shame because of her passion for life and dedication to help others while sometime strive to do too much as understanding hard and challenging history of Balkan countries. In her book she describes her travel from Belgrade across Serbia to Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece, Croatia and Albania. Even though whoever reads her book can notice that her heart is Serbian background she states on her cover and pointing:
Despite all the wars, “everywhere in the Balkan “feels like home today thanks to the heart-warming locals.
I recommend Mirjana’s book to people who are open minded, like to explore and understand Balkan culture. I would recommend her book especially to people who have disability people in families to understand potential behind disabilities and to get insight of challenges while living with disability.
Well done, Mirjana. You may strive to live ordinary life but you are extraordinary girl. I am encouraging you to write a second book.
