The continuation of the Brilliant Difficulty series is satisfying in its twists and turns. We get through Harry's 5th year with an expansion of his interactions with the Blacks as his family and the intensified stress of OWLS and Voldemort.
There is a lot of referenced abuse, as the pureblood culture of this world is kind of a mix of all the worst you'd find amongst a privileged set within a closed culture with no actual moral requirements (ie. the paterfamilias is a law unto themselves). If this is a trigger, stay away. There are no descriptions of the abuse, just references. But it's sprinkled throughout.
Well-written, good story, and I can't wait to read the next installment. But man - it gets heavy sometimes.
I could read basketofnovas for a week straight without getting sick of the stories tbh, even though I found the second part getting a bit stuck on occasion, especially in fleshing out the political system. It all comes together once you've read all the one-shots and extended universe, but the first experience was not perfect.
